Each episode is relevant and touching. Ep.5 really got me, and I love Ep.7 where they featured midwives. I thought the emotional scenes would lie low in the second half, but Ep.9 strikes back. Overall, a solid production from cases to dialogues to acting. I think the incorporation of jazz music is a smart, sensitive approach in welcoming a new life. 10/10

Slow-burn storytelling & great acting... with dark, bleak atmosphere that suits the theme.
On Labyrinth of Cinema Jan 31, 2022
Colorful, artificial, & chaotic especially the first part. I got hooked around midway, but it was still long, kind of random historical references...
On Forever Enthralled Jan 8, 2022
A well-made biopic that features renowned Chinese opera performer. Decent writing, no lame scenes nor actors cast in vain.

The sceneries really were the best part of this drama. Only the first ep to me was the cinematography was obviously projected because the following eps have been steady or naturally shot. Great cast and all, Jung Se's presence was highlighted which I'm not complaining, and I get that JJH's character was a tool for unfolding mysteries, but I felt like he could also do more in action. The soundtrack Destiny gives the cinematic supernatural vibes during end credits (haven't seen the english lyrics but the tune itself evokes that kind of feeling). My fave ep was 16 when the most moving part happened. Some scenes and number of episodes could be shorten because the reveal was pushed towards the end. It seems like the point was more on to promote the location and feature the rangers, but I still enjoyed it overall. 8.5/10

Story of two women amid class distinction finding happiness and freedom. Slow pace with well-shot atmosphere. Subtle to its point and convincing cast especially Kadowaki in her emotional scenes.

It is such a movie that makes you wonder about life. What a masterpiece! The filming style was like that of 'Amelie'.…
It reminds me of Amelie too, only dark and depressing.

Dear random user who stubbled upon this movie in the future, please let me know if you ever find out where to…
Have you found it? It was only until May this year.

Touching and interesting until the end, not to mention artsy post-credits. Glad to see 3 cast again together especially Yagira's damn fine performance.

Review Asakusa Kid
yes, true. I'm on the second half and glad it wasn't a heavy watch. The cast are all great! I've seen them on Mare so this is like a reunion.
