Minatos actor has kissed other guys before in his previous acting jobs. Tsuges actor, well he basically made out…
I don't think it matters if the other actors have "experience" with kissing men. I am sorry, but to me they are actors and should do what the script requires unless there are agency reasons about it. We have basically seen Machida's whole ass in a movie (from a clip I saw online) and not getting a kiss must be for a reason. This will not affect my rating or joy I had while watching this but I find it unfair to have the side-couple kiss twice and the main one "fake" it with a good direction scene at the end. Either have both kiss or not.

I would be annoyed if I had to answer such mundane questions. I suppose he's used to it and has a lot of patience.…
Yeah, most of them made me go "uhmm what's the point?" but it's part of the deal when you are an actor/actress and have to do interviews. At least neither him or Machida were asked anything invasive or rude so far and I hope it continues that way.

What is happening in the comment section of the 2nd link? Who is homophobic?
Thank you very much for your translation! It definitely clears up stuff that google translate can't pick up. I can see Yoshida's pov and I can agree to an extend: her intentions are good, that much is obvious, and I also get what she means by labels and what not. But there is always the other side, which I think @einepriseglitzer explained better. It's not a black and white topic, but something a lot more complicated if you add culture, society, norms, expectations etc. In an ideal world there would be no need of such "debates" but since we live in a very flawed one, it's good to always learn and discuss stuff like this. Thanks again :)

If this is what she meant then I am fine with it although I disagree that showing sex in a romance between men is considered bad or unhealthy. BL or not, portraying sex in media and art, in a healthy way is always a positive. I agree that the whole "BL and fujoshi" have baggage behind that is not good but I also think that we should not sacrifice not showing gay sex in BL/non-BL stories for the purpose of making it more "friendly" for straight people as to not get "grossed out". But as I said above, I also understand that not every society and culture progresses the same way: it takes time for important changes to come forward.

Yeah, the history of BL and fujoshi is a long one and has definitely evolved as the decades passed. As far as I am aware, BL fans in Japan are trying to reclaim these words as something positive that regards LGBTQ+ issues, characters and fans as well; not just "stories for straight women filled with harmful stereotypes about gay men". I am sure it will take years for such a big change but it's a good start.

Oh, do you mind sharing them with me? I have done some research too but not on an academic background yet. Feel free to message me. I hope you do mention the stuff you want as I am excited to read your review :)

Yes, it's as you said. It's a generational thing for me: the change is there, steps are taken but it will take time for things to become different no matter the society. In some cultures it happens earlier than others but I want to hope that in a few decades most of the world can be more acceptable of love, no matter the gender and sexuality of people involved in a romantic affair.

Understandable since I am also the same. The article also made me sad but I try to see it from another pov, a perspective I am not familiar with, about a culture I don't live in. There are certain themes and backgrounds that people in the West judge easily on other nations because our societies are more open so I think it's also fair to take a few steps back before we judge badly someone from another culture. Of course this doesn't mean we have to agree or not feel sad about said opinions, but simple understand that not everyone in the world lives the same as some of us.
