A beautiful masterpiece. I enjoyed every episode and it's a very well done story that you rarely see. The scriptwriter didn't left any plot holes and had absolute control; the direction was easy to follow and made the story compelling; the soundtrack was on spot and one of my favourites so far. But yes, the performances of every actor and actress, esp SHK and YJG, were phenomenal. It became one of my favourite series to date and I am so glad it got nominated in 7 categories for the Baeksang awards because it deserves all the recognition it can get. I knew I would love this from the first episode and I am glad my intuition about it proved me right at the end. "Beyond Evil" is an easy 10/10!!
LDS thought that LYY was buried there, hence he went to the deer farm and start digging with the others. OJH found…
You are welcome. I am not sure how fine you are with spoilers in order to answer those questions and tbh, I don't remember how episode 9 ended. So tell me if you want to know the whole thing or only things regarding up to episode 9.
It's building up for a great finale. I only hope that both LDS and HKW will be alright at the end :( One more week for this amazing series, I will definitely rewatch it another time.
Maybe I missed this but how did they suddenly find all those buried bodies?
LDS thought that LYY was buried there, hence he went to the deer farm and start digging with the others. OJH found a skeleton and as they made the report, the investigation started with the hypothesis that there might be more buried bodies there and they were right.
That means we should have subs after that date but here is the tricky part: ENG subs totally depend on the person/group who decide to take on this project and translate it. So it could it be wait from one week to months. Let's hope some kind soul(s) are up for the task and do god's work.
A lovely series just ended and I am so glad I got to watch it every week :) Tian and Phupha's journey was amazing and it was beautiful how two souls can connect so deep. I enjoyed the whole village setting, their daily lives and problems, how Tian changed through the villagers and the kids, became more mature and kind. Phupha also got more soft and open with the others, and he never stopped supporting Tian even when they had their arguments. It was a cozy and good-feel series as well as realistic, that will stay with me for a long time. To all the staff and crew who made this story possible, thank you! And to EarthMix who gave their best selves out there and made us cry and laugh, an even bigger thank you for your passion to bring this relationship to life <3
*scratches head* uhmm what is going on here? Come on guys, it's fine to compare two dramas up till a point and exchange/discuss their writing, but let's not cross the line ok? I didn't like "Mouse" but that's on me, so there is no reason to go to their comment section and make it negative or fight with their fans. You can be civil and give your opinion/criticism without being rude. We all have our likes and dislikes on how we enjoy a fictional story hence we can talk to each other in a good manner. Just reminding everyone there are too many dramas out there and some of them will pick our interest, no need for ugly reactions.
I can't be the only one that thinks, NOW KISS! everytime the main duo are bickering
They are like an old-married couple lmao Sorry to HJW/JYJ fans but I only like them as friends. The two ships simple can't compare in terms of chemistry, character interaction and progression. I like HJW/JYJ as friends and I am glad the writer (so far) is not going for the romantic plot for them. It's refreshing to see male/female friendships in dramas.
Episode 12: Masterpiece. I really feel for the twins. Their fate was tragic and LDS is still suffering from this even after 20 years. I hope by the end of the story he can find catharsis and be able to be at peace. But it's obvious the biggest bomb hasn't dropped yet and it will test his relationship with HJW. 4 episodes to go, I am excited to see how this ends.
Such a beautiful analysis, really. Thanks for sharing, Nanakor! ^^
Aww thank you ;o; I was feeling the same at first but when I sat down and thought about it, I realized why Phupha said all that stuff and how it's also relevant to Tian's character too. I am sure the last episode will gives us more smiles than tears :)
This was a crying-fest of epic proportions. Definitely deserved my tears because the direction and acting were great. As much as I would like for Tian to stay because I am sap with fictional romance stories and want my cute ship moments, what happened here is even better: Phupha told Tian to live his life, a life that not many are fortunate enough to have. He was given a second chance and he shouldn't waste it on his guilt or living in a village without a plan for the future. He is only 21 years old, still hasn't finished his degree - a subject he obviously loves, and hasn't made a path for himself, outside of his family's influence. Even his connection to Phupha started because of Torfun and his father, so Tian needs to let go of these two, which while important, shouldn't burden his life and decisions from now on.
Tian needs to make a fresh start: reunite with his family (his mother is very worried, poor her), finish his studies and find his life path, whatever that is. I am sure he will return back to his village to help them with technical/mechanical stuff, something the villagers really need and the kids even more if some of them are planning to leave for studies or work in the future, like Longtae. When he will be able to walk on his own two legs, when he can take care of himself, I am sure his relationship with Phupha will finally shine like a bright star. Sometimes, you need to separate from someone in order to find yourself and when you finally reunite with your loved one, then nothing can come between you anymore.
Also saw these knetz in YT, disrespectfully tore, spit on and stomp other countries flag because of a damn tattoo…
Sadly, this happens to pretty much every country that has bad blood with another (most of the time with its neighbors). Nationalist sc*m don't care about anything and take advantage of situations. I have seen European citizens of many countries do similar things with the flags of other countries. It's a never-ending circle of hate.
Most people are annoyed by the fact that it reached this extent. They love their country and don't want any Chinese…
I totally agree that they should have been given a chance to correct the stuff about the criticism they received, but we are also in the blind here because we don't know how these things work behind the cameras. So, to them cancelling the whole thing seemed better for X reasons outside the controversy.
I highly doubt this will ruin anything for them. The drama only had 2 episodes out and normal viewers most likely won't care and continue to watch other series. Are the Korean viewers who wanted to watch this have said something to defend the drama and staff? I do get where you and others are coming from but as I said in my other posts: we see this from an outside perspective and we can't possible relate unless something similar has happened with our country.
"If it is then they just showed the world they couldn't care less what happened to themselves. Before this blew out of proportion, nobody noticed anything and everyone just enjoyed it. Now a lot of people are bashing thier history becoz of what they just did." I highly doubt this will happen and Koreans will care. They just recently got an Oscar and Kdramas are everywhere. I mean people love wuxia/danmei and praise their stories but China is a massive censorship wall and has done worse to their dramas before, but people still love them. This is just a first from Korea, hence the reaction in this website. I have seen twitter sides more knetz.
It is possible indeed likely that it will not work, but it could serve as a kind of positive balance to the media…
"Could the distortion of history in a drama (which is fiction by definition) be so serious as to provoke such a mobilization?" For better or worse, it can definitely happen. Groups of people are can be very sensitive on how their history, heroes or religious figures are written even in fictional stories, we can look it up online and find numerous examples.
"so I wonder why they didn't notice such "serious inconsistencies" earlier. " Because not everyone reacts the same way and at the end, for them this is a job they are getting paid, not an online debate where they can share their opinions. The negative response in this case is very big and I think we, as outsiders, shouldn't be so judgmental about this thing. There are things we don't know about them and in turn, they don't know about us. In cases like this, I try to remain neutral because it's a very "us" thing that concerns their history and culture with another nation, that we can't possible understand unless we are Koreans (in this case) .
Also, I highly doubt this is deliberate on part from someone else. The writer had a controversy before with their drama "Mr. Queen" so this only flamed up some smoke that existed.
I agree with you on all points. But Im just gonna comment on the P.S. message.I would have loved to see where…
Yeah, there is lots going on behind the scenes with the companies and production. At the end of the day, both the SK companies and Netflix only want to profit from their series/movies and if they get negative feedback, that only affects their $$$
"They're not gonna risk alienating a whole country that literally petitioned their president/government to stop this drama." Period.
