He received many offers last year but turned them down to focus on the movies he had been preparing for. It's not that he's lacking offers; it's a deliberate career decision. Hopefully, next year he will take on a drama.
Interesting. Thanks for the info. I had been wondering which drama it was. Any idea why they're being so tight-lipped…
You're welcome! I'm still unsure about the drama up to this point since they've been so secretive about the reasons. Maybe it's connected to the CCP, considering where it's supposed to air. Hopefully, we'll get more information soon!
Nah, the second leads didn’t come close to matching the chemistry of the main leads. Not only was their chemistry…
That’s your opinion, and I respect it ^^ I was just sharing what the vast majority of people who watched this drama think.
As for Nothing But You, you need to approach it primarily as a sports drama, with romance being secondary. I’ve seen people on MDL express disappointment because of the limited romance, and that’s likely why it’s only rated 8.2 there. On Douban, though, Nothing But You has an 8.3 rating, which is quite high, especially for a modern drama. Very few modern C-dramas are rated higher, which says a lot about its quality. Enjoy!
I'm still having a snowtorm lin yang fever. and it's been months.
That just shows how good he is... I still remember some haters saying he couldn't do romance 😂 all because he didn’t have a lot of skinship scenes due to his young age, and also because he didn’t take on a full youth romance drama. They just didn’t present a challenge to him since he enjoys portraying more complex characters.
With this one, it felt like he was saying, "I’m going to silence these clueless haters once and for all" xD. He went ahead and portrayed love at first sight like never before. When you watch the drama, you're convinced he’s truly in love with her, and you forget he's acting 😂. He's seriously dangerous.
It's honestly incredible when I remember that Wu Lei was only 20 when he filmed this drama! He wasn’t even a part of the original cast either. After the original male lead had to drop out of this project, the production reached out to Wu Lei, which turned out to be a brilliant decision since the drama became a massive success.
Back then, Dilraba admitted that when she found out Wu Lei was chosen as the male lead, she was initially concerned about his performance due to his age, but she was later blown away by how good he was. She even said she never felt like she was older than him on set, which is exactly what everyone else felt while watching the drama!
Just finished all 49 episodes! I am always happy when a cdrama has a good ending! I would liked to have seen more…
Nah, the second leads didn’t come close to matching the chemistry of the main leads. Not only was their chemistry off the charts, but it’s also some of the best chemistry Dilraba has ever had with a co-star.
The frustration most people had with the two leads was mainly due to the minimal skinship between them. However, many seem to overlook a crucial detail: Wu Lei was only 20 when he filmed this drama, which is incredible! He wasn’t part of the original cast either. After the original male lead was dropped due to a scandal, the production reached out to Wu Lei, which turned out to be a brilliant decision since the drama became a massive success.
At that time, Wu Lei was under an old contract that restricted skinship scenes because of his age (those restrictions are gone now, which is why in Nothing But You there was a hot kissing scene, and in his latest romance drama AASOL, there were several intimate scenes). That’s why they had to limit the intimate scenes in this drama, but even with that, their chemistry was undeniable.

He is 24 now and the drama was released more than 3 years ago, which means he was 21 when the drama got released. When he was filming this, he was only 20
I didn't see any upcoming dramas for him. It's a pity since he's such a great actor and good looking too!
It's a pity for us drama lovers, not for him xD. As I explained below, he's currently on a movie streak—one was released earlier this year, one is already filmed and we're waiting for the release date, and two upcoming blockbusters are on the way. He's working on one right now, and once that's done, he'll move on to the next 😌.
Since finishing filming Amidst a Snowstorm of Love early last year, he’s received many drama offers, but he’s declined them all.
Hopefully he will pick one soon 🙏
By the way, I’m only mentioning his leading roles. In addition, he starred in a movie as a guest role, which is set to release next month, if I remember correctly. He also probably appeared in a historical drama as a supporting role. The issue is that the project is secret, so we don’t know for sure yet. However, don’t expect too much from it—his role might be similar to what he had in Faith Makes Great.
The drama The Heart (2023) would have faced the same fate as this one if it weren't for a user here on MDL who took matters into their own hands and translated the entire series themselves. The Heart has an impressive 8.4 rating on Douban, which is extremely high, especially for a modern drama. However, the number of watchers on MDL remains low because there were no subtitles—not just during its airing, but even five months after it finished. That's the consequence of not having subtitles.
Blossoms Shanghai has an even more remarkable 8.7 rating on Douban and has won numerous awards, including Best TV Series at the 29th Magnolia Awards. But if no one steps up to translate, there’s little hope of seeing it here.
I already reached out to the user I mentioned earlier, asking for help, but I never received a response. Maybe some of you might have better luck: https://kisskh.at/profile/haha4456 . If not, anyone else who could help would be greatly appreciated—because right now, it’s looking grim without subtitles...
With the official announcement from Huawei, Wu Lei now has 24 active endorsement deals at the age of 24. 😳 This is a testament to his immense talent and popularity. What's even more impressive is that he has achieved all of this without the backing of a major agency or connections to powerful, wealthy individuals.
Agree with some of your opinion. I just want to add, Zhang Jingyi and Zhou Ye are actually the most established…
Unfortunately, it seems there was a misunderstanding in the second part of your comment.
First, I didn’t mention Wang Xingyue at all, so I’m not sure what there is to disagree with regarding him. After finishing my initial comment, I realized I had forgotten to include him.
Second, you said a 30-year-old actor can be a rising star, and I completely agree! Didn’t I already mention Ryan Cheng, who is also 30? So that point was already addressed.
As for Zhang Wanyi, when I said, 'He’s literally 30 years old and has been acting for quite some time,' I was highlighting the fact that he’s not a newcomer due to his age and experience. I then added that he’s already a star, to emphasize that I don't consider him a rising star, which I believe many would agree with.
I'll leave it to everyone else to shower the actors mentioned in the article with praise, many of whom I really like. Instead, I'd like to take this opportunity to highlight someone else—Ahn Eun Jin! She may not be a singer, but to this day, I still get goosebumps whenever I hear 'With My Heart.' I'm sure many others feel the same way. ❤ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3PYVhrEL_0E
