Thank you for your contribution, but I’m a bit unsure about the list.
Is it based on fame and impact, or just on actors you recently discovered and liked?
Respectfully, actors like Dai Gao Zheng, Zhang Jiong Min, and Sheng Wei are neither starring in highly successful dramas nor are they that famous yet.
The rest, while they are getting famous or are already established, aren’t exactly newcomers. The only exception is Ryan Cheng. Although he has been acting for a while, mostly in short series, his masterclass performance in MJTY last year earned him significant recognition, leading to him landing more lead roles. So he fits the criteria perfectly.
However, how can that be compared to someone like Zhou Ye, who has been taking on lead roles since 2021, with 8 dramas under her belt? I would also argue that Lu Yu Xiao is a better fit. She has mostly been cast in supporting roles (except in TAHAJR) but delivered an outstanding performance in MJTY, which earned her widespread recognition for her acting skills. Another perfect example would be Wang Churan, who gained major fame in 2023 and 2024 thanks to Fireworks of My Heart and Are You The One?. Before that, she was mainly a supporting actress, making her an ideal candidate for a rising star and newcomer.
As for Zhang Wan Yi, he’s neither a newcomer nor a rising star. He’s literally 30 years old, has been acting for quite some time, and is already a Star!
Li Landi is also not a newcomer. She’s been acting since 2011. If you're going to include her, you can't leave out other child actresses like Zhao Jinmai, who has made a much bigger impact and gained immense fame at a younger age. I personally like Li Landi a lot, but those are just the facts.
Jolin Jin is already well-known as a host, and I wouldn’t classify her as a rising star or newcomer, even after her role in LJTY.
Both Zhang Jing Yi and Tian Xi Wei have been successful and famous for a while now. They both gained significant attention a couple of years ago with dramas like Lighter and Princess and New Life Begins. I would argue that there are others who would better fit the criteria of new rising stars and newcomers than ZJY and TXW, even though I like both of them a lot, especially ZJY, whose talent is undeniable.
Yes, it has been a while. We're now just waiting for the release date. Wu Lei is currently working on another…
Yeah, he's definitely on a movie streak... 5 movies in total! He's got 4 lead roles and 1 guest role. One has already been released, 2 have wrapped up filming, and he's currently working on the fourth before moving on to the fifth. So, for those of us waiting for his dramas (myself included), we're going to need a lot of patience! :/
True but these dramas only have 12 to 16 episodes... and the story is supposed to be about how the main leads…
I was skeptical about the genre from the very beginning, and when it turned out to be a clear slice-of-life romance drama, I knew some people wouldn’t like it because their expectations didn’t match what they got. The recommendations are spot on, though—they included Our Beloved Summer, Go Ahead, and Welcome to Samdal-ri, all of which are drama romance.
I really wish the MDL editors would update the genre, but I doubt they will xD. If they did, people would stop complaining about most of the things they’re hung up on and focus on what really matters.
I don't think the FL was genuinely questioning her feelings because when she made that comment she had already…
Yea, from what they portrayed she wasn't actually questioning them, but I am putting myself in his shoes xD for him, she is and that's hurtful. He didn't deserve that. ^^

The only mistake was not including the melodrama, drama, and slice-of-life genres—other than that, it's an amazing drama!
It was misleading to approach this as a rom-com because rom-coms typically stay lighthearted, and the love story between the leads usually unfolds from the first to the last episode.
If you view it as a slice of life romance drama instead, it makes more sense. Plus, we still have 7 episodes left, so don’t worry—we’ll get plenty more of their story.
Some people are saying that the male lead (ML) feels like a third wheel, but that’s not the case. It was necessary to show the relationship between her and her ex, and many are missing the point. Why? Because it teaches a lifelong lesson: even if someone seems to love you deeply and wants to marry you, when life gets tough, it can take a toll on them, and they might give up along the way. People often stick with you during your highs, but when the lows hit, even if they try to support you initially, the outcome is often predictable.
It's frustrating that the second male lead (2ML) couldn’t support her through thick and thin. Now, he's trying to win her back because she’s starting to rebuild her life—thanks largely to whom? The male lead, who truly loves her and is the type of person who will stand by her side through both joy and suffering. That’s the kind of person who will stay with you until the end. So, it really upset me when she questioned his feelings for her.
This situation reminded me of someone I once met—a relative of a friend. He was quiet and seemed very ill, around 37 years old. I later learned that his wife had left him while he was sick. She tried to stay and support him, like the 2ML, but at some point, she gave up and asked for a divorce, which he accepted. His health rapidly declined, and he passed away months later. I later discovered he had been battling not just a cancerous illness but also the emotional pain of betrayal, which likely worsened his condition and shortened his life. It broke my heart to hear his story.
That’s the lesson here—choose your lifetime partner wisely. I really enjoy this drama, but the biggest scam? Not adding it the drama genre!
Just ignore it. It looks like someone added that, and the approval staff might have approved it without verifying…
Yep, he is good ^^ I watched him in Ever Night too (which starred also my two beloved princesses Yuan Bing Yan and Meng Ziyi) and the movie Yesterday Once More with Zhou Ye

One of them has to release this year, no excuses! xD Him and Wu Lei—I swear they’re doing it on purpose 😂 I was so happy when Arthur Chen returned to dramas after a couple of years away, and now Wu Lei is on a movie streak with literally 5 films back-to-back!
I missed her a lot. Two years without a drama starring Jung So Min was torture. I’m loving every single bit of this drama, and when it ends, I hope she picks her next project soon ♥️♥️♥️

After finishing filming, dramas won't be broadcast right away. Don't forget the post-production phase, especially for dramas that include CGI, which could take six to twelve months. Modern romance dramas usually take a few months only. Then there's the review and distribution license, followed by additional factors like finding a time slot. Logically speaking, it is not impossible for it to air this year if the stars align; I have seen it happen before. However, I would say it's unlikely.
The only thing that held up this drama is amazing acting by ZWY and decent chemistry with the FL. I agree though…
Of course you do! 😂 Great minds think alike, right? At some point, I might just orchestrate a heist to get my hands on her shelved drama, *Night Wanderer*. If the mission impossible actually happens, I’ll be sure to save you a copy 😌.
As great as JOL2 can be, not everyone is into wuxia+comedy. This drama may have some sloppy writing in character…
You're kindhearted to apologize ❤️, but you didn’t have to. I was just expressing my opinion, and I take no offense as long as everyone stays respectful like you did.
And yeah, it's totally fair to have the same take even if it’s rated a 6 on Douban. I mean, I once enjoyed a drama that literally had a 2.5 on Douban. 😁

I totally get where you’re coming from. I compromise now and then too, watching dramas just because they star actors or actresses I like and miss, even if the show itself isn’t great. 😂 For example, if a new drama starring Ni Ni came out, I’d probably watch it even if it wasn’t doing well. 😅
That said, it looks like we mostly agree on this drama—the story is indeed bland and boring too. I tried to be as patient as possible, but I eventually gave up and started watching at 2x speed, fast-forwarding through some scenes. 🙄
At this point, I’m just begging for something good to come out!

I got notifications about two comments from you, but I’m only seeing one. Not sure if I’m hallucinating or if there was an issue. 🤔
Anyway, that’s pretty much how I got scammed. 😅 I saw people celebrating the 8 rating, so I kept watching episode after episode, waiting for the climax and epicness… but there was none (and I’m already at episode 32).
As for the actor, I’m not too familiar with him, which is why I questioned whether it was a problem with the original material or his comedic performance. It might be a combination of both! As I mentioned, he did well in serious, intense, and dramatic scenes, but the comedic ones were more of a miss than a hit. That’s not unheard of; I’ve noticed that many actors excel in either serious or comedic roles but struggle with the other, even internationally.

Not really, the drama just finished airing today, so let's wait and see whether that rating is correct and holds up over time, plenty of dramas, even on MDL, get a rating close to 9 but gradually decline as months go by. I’d be surprised if this one stays at an 8.
That said, this is just my opinion—it wasn’t a great watch for me. But I’m glad others, like yourself, enjoyed it! 😊❤

By the way, cute photo of Ryūji and Taiga 🥰
