A second season can be made if they adapt all 10 stories Hua Yong wrote but that would be the most unhinged catastrophe of a BL production lmao, so I'm with you better no second season

I don't want a second season simply because I don't think there is enough story to adapt and I don't think they can write more meaningful content based of what will be left after ep 16. I hope for the main cp to have a new project soon though, or to have different projects without being in a fixed ship is also ok. hope second cp have their own series simply because of the whole discourse here and ugly comments from fans of second cp. I don't like second cp that much with every ongoing episode I like them less but I think Gao Tu actor is good at acting

I think that even if they keep the conversation between HY and SWL they will modify the content... like HY just say he will follow SSY if he dies, not the part about the baby, they toned down the psychopath persona quite a bit in the show

just finished ep 8... overall thoughts are overwhelming. Great directing, great cinematography, superb acting from everyone even minor roles. the weakest part is the script. I feel the show crashed so hard in ep8. Characters arc are burnt like why make Trin and Naran being so passionate about politics and people and doing their best to try to contribute to a better society and then in ep8 Trin just throws everything down and moves away, the same for Naran, who wants to elope with his lover and leaves his meaningful job behind just because one evil General was caught, the structural political problems are still there and he decided to leave for love and once it's not possible he just leaves alone. I'm fuming about this two characters arc in ep8

I hope they have time to squish in HYs reaction to SSYs tentative question about having a second child (a few years after the main story)

I can't write any fiction even if my life depends on it but if there are writers out there who loves both shows I hope they will pick up this idea. Also what if SSY was thrown in the games? Scenario A together with HY, I think SSY is busy the whole time to keep HY from killing other players who seem to be upstanding people while secretly enjoying HYs unhinged behaviour and also SSY can't help but throws himself in front of HY whenever he sees him in danger. Scenario B the SSY would basically try to survive and probably succeeds in walking out as the sole winner, then investigates about the VIPs and make plans to ruin their businesses and get them in prison, meanwhile HY finds out and hunts all of them down and unalives them in the most brutal ways

As I was binged watching Squid Game 3 I couldn't help myself but wondering what if Hua Yong somehow ended up in the games. My headcanon for it, scenario A if SSY was also thrown in the game HY would kill anyone to protect SSY and waits for the best opportunity to kill the VIPs and game master, if he doesn't succeed then he would sacrifice himself in the last round so SSY can win. scenario B if HY is thrown in alone he would nonchalantly play every round and also tries and probably succeeds in killing the game master and VIPs and walks away from the island being annoyed that they stole his time, which he could have invested in learning to bake new cookies

well I think there are some audience for dark materials and I personally won't watch dramas that are Fluffy roses and petals but for a success of a BL as we can see already with this adaptation (HYs sociopathic character toned down on screen) it has to reach a wider audience and I don't think the novel tenacious illness can do it if it's turned into a series. since I'm quite a big fan of Huang Xing the actor I hope he can steadily gain recognition which means complex roles in a darker setting but not so over the top (tenacious illness is too evil and an acquired taste since it is set in a normal modern day universe, without the fantasy or historical elements to be able to sell the heinous acts to the masses)

I agree wholeheartedly. this is the third time they use this cheap tactic. people who can not adapt a written story to a good script to the screen resort to this unbelievably dumb 3rd person narrative. please don't come after me for this harsh words but a voice over with a characters thoughts is already cheap imo but it is different to 3rd person narrative, which is almost a no go. I have only see one example where 3rd person voice made sense (the series Sweet Tooth)

I also sincerely hope they would announce next project but if the rumours for HX/QJD is true then the novel Tenacious illness would be a disaster to adapt to screen especially with this not so high level of directing. Hope they choose something else. I've read the novel and I liked it quite much but it's a nightmare and Huang Xing will get so much hate for the role. keeping fingers crossed that they choose another script (preferably dark but more toned down to the taste of the masses)

on Twitter there are once again malicious posts about the actor who plays Hua Yong from fans of the series RL. what is this bullshit why can't people not drag others down just because they like something else. I happen to really like TXN and HX both so every time this shit comes up I'm super upset. toxic fans ruin everything for this series

first impression after watching Ep14, from a Hua Yong fan, my absolute favourite character in the show and book plus neutral to the second CP: the flow of storytelling is so so weird. scene after scene with HY/SSY with weird cuts and filler shots why don't they just put the GT and SWL somewhere in between HY scenes and keep the SWL texting at the end would be more natural, omitting intimacy, showing more skin in day to day scenes than in bed scenes, questionable choices in action scene, bad choices and directing for the side characters and the minor roles in the restaurant scene. But all critical points aside: 3 lead actors delivered in terms of acting, 1 is the weakest for me but he did not ruin his scenes. I love every moment with main CP and the one scene with GT. I think the second CP has a very boring couple dynamic but I am neutral with the individual characters. Everyone complaining about screen time I can understand, but also please be reasonable, in this episode the time-stealing was not due to main CP but side characters SSQ and cousin talk

They will cover till the end of main story and also extras with the two children based on the cast list. As I see the have skipped scenes or fast forward book scenes. example for skipping: HY taking pheromone disguiser after earthquake and had health issues, his half brother came to treat him and SSY being furious about HY risking his health

in this fictional fantasy setting the gender or more accurately the sex male or female is not the primary attribute socially perceived. see for example in every speech of the characters in the show it's always this Omega, this Alpha this Beta, never this guy or this girl. so if it is a regular A/O pairing I would see it as a straight pair. but in my perception it is more about romantic feelings and obviously SSY and SWL fell in love in a queer way which makes me like the series

LOL I just saw a tweet with a cute meme which says "Abo Desire is a straight drama by omegaverse logic". Cute but I have to disagree for two reasonsHY/SSY paring is not straight pairing. main point is SSY was only into omegas initially but after the earthquake he did not believe HY is not an Alpha and forgives HY and dates him anyway. nothing straight here and so wonderful imoSWL/GT paring: it is clear (book or novel) that SWL catched feelings when he thought GT is a Beta. in this universe if it's A or O loves a Beta so what is considered straight is if the love interest is of the opposite gender (male/female) so SWLs love is not straight. I would have dropped the book or series if both main parings are straight in my perspective. I consume straight/hetero pairing works but only a few it they have great settings like crime or horror

including the cousin in the main trailer and on the preview was maybe strategic because the actor is more famous than the rest of the cast I assume. story wise it does not make sense to highlight the cousin imo

Yeah that's also my first impression of the novel and also the show: Omegas are portrayed too one-sided. I did not drop show or book because I wasn't interested in them anyway. the only character who got my attention was the Enigma or glimpses of him through SSYs eyes. Nevertheless with my comment I did not want to blame "omega victims" in Desire. They have their struggles and in the book I like Gao Tus character in the end. In the show not that much.
Edit: reasons for liking Gao Tu book version (portrayed as hard working and pragmatic, resilient and determined and has a great sense of self awareness for his feelings in the end, also he is kind to his love interest whose feelings he did not reciprocate)

I think the point in the book to include the cousin is to point out that Omegas can be badasses even though they are more submissive due to biology. the same goes for SWL omega father storyline. I think it is important to have such characters represent Omegas otherwise only with Gao Tu and his mother as characters in the novel on would think Omegas are born to only be doormats

My headcanon after watching ep13: while Hua Yong was the one who decided to make perfume and cosmetic products with SSY scent later on Shen Wen Lang decided they should also make toilet cleaner with SSY scent because SWL is so fed up with HYs obsession and his plan which also forced SWL to play along. with this I want to state my theory that at least in the series HY does genuinely care for his not-friend or ally SWL otherwise with the toilet cleaner move SWL would be at least bankrupt by HYs hands
