People who started watching this show which is correctly stated genre-wise as romance + drama and all the relevant tags about sensitive or triggering aspects and then rate it low because it shows exactly what it promised and with thoughtful portrayal of the consequences of the manipulation are a mystery to me. If you can only stomach drama in the sense of the leads suffering because of evil doings of external characters outside of the ship than go look for other shows, there are plenty of them. This one depicts a toxic relationship and does it well. It is dark romance with no sugar coating or excuse for bad behaviour. the victim is suffering and fighting back as he should, the manipulator is suffering consequences of his actions and there is growth and remorse shown. to rate a show lower because one has certain expectations for a BL is kind of undermining the logic, because BL is not a genre mediawise, the genre is romance and drama, not only romance, nor romance and comedy.

selective morality, yes thats it, you found the right words for those morons. I like to browse this comment section of the show but the moral police really just ruins it for me with their in real life talks and double standards.

for those who cries about irl they would never forgive Fan Xiao and the pair should not get together: this fictional piece has two main characters and only has the obligation to tell the story due to the 2 mains beliefs, mindset and personalities, not assume the preference and willingness to forgive of literally millions of potential audience members. So in my eyes the show told a cohesive and logical path to the happy ending.

Fan Xiaos redemption is only to be judged by You Shu Lang as a person who is the victim of his crimes and also a person who is still deeply in love with him and cares and worries for him. That's why with the end of ep 14 one can see that YSL is struggling seriously and tries to cut ties with the new boyfriend arc, because in YSLs eyes the redemption is done, he just lacks trust in a future and trust in Fan Xiaos sincerity. When YSL regains trust then at this moment they are an inevitable pair because of the deep love and obsession they have for each other

Ep 14: Fan Xiaos biggest regret in this life is not picking up those calls from YSL, but it's also the most important turning point in their relationship dynamic

Ep13 shows 2 chance encounters between the leads, that is clear to me even if i only depend on the show to gather this facts. what is no doubt for me is also Fan Xiao trying to stay around or in YSLs orbit after jail time, consistent to his character so far shown, his obsession for YSL runs deep. 2 things can be true at once, FX wants to see or observe from afar but fates caused them to meet 2 times

forgiveness like trust and love is very subjective. a good story imo just has to present the way to forgiveness in a relatable way according to the victims (YSLs) personality, mindset and beliefs, not hitting the mainstream view of whether forgiveness is justified

Imo the adaptation to screen lost the essence of the novel a bit so that's why Ming comes across as such a scum and Joe is perceived as a total pushover. I liked the actors in MSI but the screenplay was not mine and the happy ending was awkward in the show. Also yes, Ming is nowhere FXs league in terms of cunning and manipulative tactics

I surely hope not. But if that's the case than its hard to swallow. The producers saw the backlash and the cries about screen time for JiangLi from Desire so it's likely they will balance out screen time and really make 2 main couples in the second project. I just don't think that Ocean has the acting level to carry a main role. I don't dislike him, imo his acting is just stiff sometimes and scenes are a hit and miss. I'm worried

I absolutely love both YSL and FX as characters. The novels development and ending is also one of the most well written redemption arcs for me because the author doesn't switch the characters personalities to bend them into a happy ending. My take of FX is just this. FX 1.0 craves YSLs body and love FX 2.0 craves YSLs love, his wellbeing and his body (end of ep12 is still FX2.0) and FX 3.0 craves YSLs wellbeing and happiness, and than with lower priority YSLs love and body (3.0 imo appeared after jail time).

if you want to label my comment as someone who sees only black and white than go on, assume this as you will. I have stated many times how I love the source material and how I think FX is very emotional intelligent and therefore I like his character. But with what was shown in ep12 and some blind FX worshippers said abour it is simply wrong imo. FX is complex and the reason he still pulling stunts for me is not only because he worried about YSL, he absolutely sees YSL as a strong and resilient individual that's why he even fell so hard. He is pulling this act to help YSL AND with the hope of still staying relevant in YSL life. You write it yourself he is not selfless, so why are you labelling my comment as someone who can not see past black and white. FX is stalking YSL nonstop that's why he even decided to allow the data transfer because he knew YSL modified the stick so that the data won't be sent to his 2nd brother but to YSL so he has some leverage and can later decide for himself if he wants to send FX to jail, all in the hope that YSL will overcome his helpless feelings. FX is pulling the strings constantly, yes he is worried but he is not dumb, he knows that by truly letting go YSL wouldn't crumble but he will pick himself up, FX just doesn't want to YSL to vanish after healing. It's selfish but still so in character for him to act like this in ep12. I appreciate the novel and the show for this

the better way is not to scheme and let YSL go and move on with his life but no at this point FX is still selfish. the scheme is not necessary for the rsecue, YSL was already suicidal in ep11 but still seeks out a way by asking for a new job, FX can see that YSL can overcome mental crisis if he is set free, FX just choose the deliberate roundabout way

saw some posts of Fan Xiao defenders which makes him to be the hero who schemes with professor Huang to save YSL from lethargy which baffles me. Yes I myself could see he schemes not because he wants to harm YSL in this case, but he still is the selfish devil here. YSL broke up with him in ep8, FX played tricks and blackmailed YSL with prof Huang, his brother and Bai Ting to chain YSL and in ep12 YSL once again asked FX to set him free but this selfish devil just goes on everything he does in ep 12 including allowing data transfer and the scheme with lawsuit is carried out with the intention of stopping YSL from suicidal thoughts but still in the hope YSL will remain by his side so no FX is not selflessly playing the villain, he still is the the villain. I love this character as much as I love YSL character but no I don’t have to put him on a pedestal or twist the facts for it. fact is: if FX is intent on redeeming and if he puts YSLs wellbeing as his first priority he could let YSL go in the beginning of ep12 or later after he stalked and overheard YSLs conversation with his mom at memorial site, the most direct way for YSL to heal and move on, no roundabouts schemes needed for rescue fron depression

well I don’t think the problem lies within the show, it happens in any show that new names are dropped and afterwards characters are introduced visually, maybe the subtitles are to fast to read or the Chinese names and formof adress is unfamiliar

I also hope no JiangLi as second couple, other actors are fine if they want than put second or third or how many couples in the new show

this story does have a happy ending for Hua Yong, you shoukd drop the show if that’s not something you would want to see, the ending is not ambiguous it is a full blown happy ending

yes FX deliberately brings his computer to YSL and left to get the juice so YSL can copy the data, this was confirmed indirectly in the dialogue when YSL held him by the throat FX said everything will go as YSL wants soon. FX is mentally unstable but he is perceptive and intelligent, he sees that YSL is spiraling towards suicide so he gives him hope in form of the data, so YSL wont feel completely helpless and trapped

the main story has 106 chapters which will be filmed I think. ep 15 will end with ch 106 i predict. there is no time for the 12 extra chapters in the 15 ep show imo. No idea if they filmed any extra episodes

Ep 12 was another really solid one. A pity that Ch84 of the book is not included. I really fear that 13 to 15 would feel rushed. You Shu Langs actor really nailed the conversation with his mom at the memorial site. What a sad scene. FX being in the manipulation game at the end again but this time with the intent of rescue instead of destruction. He knows there is a much better way to make YSL less suicidal by him leaving YSLs side but he is still selfish and chooses the manipulative way instead.

on one hand I hope the second script is Tenacious Illness but on the other hand I pray it's not because I think Hao Yi Ran would be a better fit for the role of big bro and Huang Xing will thrive as psycho small bro along HYR. Now I'm getting myself ready far the bashing from both fandoms
