I have been going back and forth on this one...not because of the slap kiss aspect but the whole ill-fated relationship thing. After watching Dok Soke and getting thoroughly pissed off, I have been careful about watching familial relationship Asian problem lakorns and how some relationships become taboo. Which worked out for Massaya, but not for Dok Soke. So, I will wait for the end of this one and if it has a happy ending I will watch as I like the actors too. Thanks for the article.

I am rather into this lakorn, and the age gap is not that unusual in these types of shows. Also it helps that his initial entry into her life was to save her from harm. I like both of these leads. I hope they develop more of a rapport sooner rather than later. The other lakorn I am watching right now is Mia Archeep, which I am enjoying quite a bit. You may want to check it out. Thanks for the article it was well done.

I was wavering on watching as my life has been pretty gritty lately itself, but from your article it sounds like this should be my next binge watch . Thanks, very good article.

James, is one of my favorite Thai actors. Go to his MyDramalist page and check out a lot of his older stuff. It is good too. I am watching this lakorn too. Thanks for the article.

I have to be in a certain mood for J Dramas, just like Thai Lakorns. These two genre's are nothing alike but the require a certain mood for me. I then tend to binge them. K and C dramas are still my favorite, but like is better if you can mix it up a little here and there.

There were two I had not watch that I will now check out. Thanks for the article.

The Master's Sun might fit well in this eclectic group. If you haven't watched give it a try. It has a lot of adult issues hidden in the dark theme and comedic relief. One of my favorite shows and had no clue what I was getting into.

As I have stated before, I am a long time lakorn fan, but I do usually keep the volume low. I like all the different styles but I have to mix them up with other shows. I will binge a show then get all pissed off because I forgot where I was watching it, so it might take me a while to get back to it. But back when I first started watching lakorns it could take months, and I do mean months to get one subbed and there were few and far between places where you can find them. I'm stubborn by nature, so I would keep notes and keep checking back and leave an encouraging word, for that sometimes one volunteer who, was uploading, segmenting, subbing and editing. Things are much better now. Muse is a good site although it can be somewhat hard to negotiate. I try always to watch on the subber's sites, like thippy and Meow, but it is not always easy to do so. The culture if very different than western, so watch with an open and curious mind. Have fun. Brownie, nice article.

haha, I'm always in the mood for a thai revenge drama when I watched too many fluffy other dramas xD
Rakuten, a Japanese company bought them out and did away with all of the fan channels and made it a paid to view website with different levels of shows you can watch.

Be sure to never watch Indian shows or those from Turkey , In the Thai show, domestic abuse is prevalent but not…
I agree and have sent you a friend request. I am always interested in how other people think and view different topics. I am 64 years young and have lived through a lot of social change. I know it is possible, but it is painful for all concerned. Change is hard and we are seeing it here as American's are used to going our own way. You would think wearing a face covering/ mask and social distancing would be easy for us but it is not. In Texas where I live it is damn hot! I have found a dental shield that is the "cat's Meow". I look like a freak but who cares, I am cool. We are a diverse group of people who really enjoy disagreeing with each other. We live in interesting times.

I understand your viewpoint and as a matter of fact the lack of violence and sex in prime time shows is what brought me to kdramas in the first place. Filmography is indeed a potent tool in creating and perpetuating social mores, but it is also a window into viewing another culture. Do I think they should be more responsible in what they are teaching? Yes, but we don't live in a perfect world and apparently these shows are what the Thai citizens watch and enjoy. They wouldn't exist without a demand. The fact that men are evolving into more sensitive humans in more recent shows is a positive cultural sign. I agree also that it is a world wide issue that crosses all social classes. I was a Art History major with a minor in Archaeology which basically means I am fascinated by different cultures and the way they are expressed in their art. Lakorns to me are windows into another culture. I can find many things to like and enjoy about them, and they fascinate me on many different levels. Exposure to all these different cultures shows me how much we are all alike on many levels, and they also help me understand how lucky I have been in my own lifetime when I start to take myself a little too seriously. Thank you for your thoughtfulness and activism.

That’s exactly why I stop watching lokorn dramas they show rape is okay always turn into forgiveness and love…
"Rape has a high profile in the Thai media, with television dramas gleefully portraying sexual assault as a common plot device. From a young age, children are exposed to programs which feature frequent rapes of women, sometimes portraying their attackers as sympathetic characters doing it for “love.” Although young women are instilled with a fear of taxi drivers, the data shows teachers are more likely to be attackers." For Westerner's this is out of our moral norm. (I'm not saying that it doesn't happen in the West as it does, but not as an accepted mores) I have a feeling that unless you are one of the upper class, pressured sex...or rape happens to just about all the females in Thailand. I know that women all over the world have probably all been pressured to have sex, when they didn't want to for all sorts of reasons But it is not accepted societal behavior in most countries. I will admit that when watching Thai Lakorns I do not hold them at the same expectation level as I do other countries. I know that they operate under a governmental fierce censorship against guns , different story lines and alcohol, they just don't censor what I feel they should. But once again, I try not to judge and try to learn about the people and culture and look for the things we all have in common. And I absolutely must have a happy ending.

I'm still waiting for the last ep subs of My husband in law, Q_Q But the BL dramas are subbed really fast mostly…
It's worth it in my opinion. I usually use paypal as I don't know who I am actually paying so it seems the safest way to go. But, you do need to wait until you have established a checking account to use. Some of Muse's shows are public, just not the newest ones. Their website is hard to manage for me, but it is way better than I could design. LOL. Jasmin's lakornworld2.blogspot.com is your best source for finding when, what and where lakorns are being hosted. They are also good for updating the fans on current situations or trends in Thailand.

If you can't find a particular show, feel free to tell me what you are looking for I may be able to tell you where to find on safe sites. A lot of them I watched on Viki when they had fan channels.

Well said! :) I also had problems with the language first but now I absolutely love it
I think my problems with the language is the tonal range, it makes me physically uncomfortable, but my fix is just turning down the volume. Dao Pra Sook is one of my favorite lakorns. I can't find it with Eng Subs anymore but it was on the tube with subs years ago. Forced sex is an intricate part of the story as our main lead buys Dao from a brothel, where she worked as a part of scamming the customers. She was only 15 and he was in his late 20s early 30s and he brought her home to live in his house and serve him. Way off the scale of what I morally think is ok, but the story is true to the culture and the MLs develop a true connection and love for each other. I don't condone violence against anyone, but when watching "cultural history" I can accept the differences in our cultures and be thankful that I am a woman who was born in the USA. And yes you make sense. Slap Stick comedy sometimes makes me cringe no matter which genre is using it. It is something we humans seemed to enjoy as a whole as you find it in every country.

fyi, you can just pay 5 dollars and get access. I usually pay a bit more, but I do it lakorn by lakorn as I appreciate their willingness to volunteer and put up with all the BS of getting them subbed, on platforms then pulled, uploaded again, then pulled over and over again.
