Despite the wide support for My Husband in Law, I have just dropped it now. I read years ago an article that points…
Be sure to never watch Indian shows or those from Turkey , In the Thai show, domestic abuse is prevalent but not presented as how you should act...Although in my opinion they are forgiven way too soon. But in the Indian and Turkestan shows they do a hard sell that their way is the right way...especially the older ones. I really couldn't take those. I will say I only watch 2 or maybe 3 from either country so maybe not such a good sample. No one is raped in Massaya, Full House or Kiss Me (Remake of It started with a Kiss) There are others but those are good beginner lakorns.

I am a seasoned Thai Lakorn fan as per my watch list I have completed 179 shows. Three things bother me about Lakorns. 1 The language is hard on my ears and I usually watch with the volume way down. 2. Rape, is an a accepted form of foreplay, especially in the older shows. It just recently became a law in Thailand that a man can be charged for raping his wife, however it is not generally enforced and 3. the class structure is very wide between the have and the have nots.. Once you get past those humps be prepared for some prime drama.

The culture is very different from Western culture and they don't always kiss like we do but often sniff their loved ones cheek. That took some getting used to, but so did lean in kisses without hugs. I often wonder if their attraction to me is like a train wreck, I just have to keep watching. The recommendations above are all very good and they were not ,hit you over the head male dominant shows. I think my favorite lakorn is Massaya with Andrew Gregson, which is an older lakorn and about the 3rd version. You can still find it on the tube with Eng Subs. Bad film quality as HD is relatively new in Thailand. The newer version is good too, but I think the dialog is better in the Gregson version and I was better able to follow the story line. It also helped me understand the story line in the new versions too.

I never really understood Karma before watching Lakorns and the acceptance that your Karma from a past life is why you deserve pain or happiness in this life.

If the story line seems familiar if probably is...Thailand is the King of the remakes. The censorship requirements make it very hard for new shows...not impossible...but more difficult to get approved, so they make lots of remakes. They change them up enough that you can usually enjoy several of the versions, but probably not one right after another.

The other big cultural difference for me is the over the top cross dressing transgender actors. In many cases they provide the comedic element and are an important part of the plot. The BL lakorns are all relatively new as mainstream shows and as a "straight" 64 year old white female I have to say have some of the sexiest and intimate character relationships out there. I will admit the Cinderella type shows are still my favorite and I love a happy ending. So, I would say just like Japanese dramas are very different from K and C dramas, if you keep an open mind and heart you will find much to entertain yourself in Thailand.

This was a very good and inspirational article. Very well written and enjoyed. I just finished watching Chocolate and have run through all my tissues. I have this on my watch list as the leads are two of my favorite actors. I'm going to wait to watch when I need a binge and a good cry. Thank you.

Oh the joys of being close to my family! Not that I want anything bad to happen to any of them a little distance would be nice. One plus is I'm ordering food home delivery from all my local restaurants that are still open and don't feel a bit of guilt for not cooking myself. I don't know if any of you were involved in the great beanie baby hunt when McDonalds offered them with their happy meals, but I am now on the great toilet paper hunt. I am not in dire need, but I certainly don't want to encounter any digestional issues right now. I have worked out of my house for years, so that is not a new adjustment for me. But trying to work with my 4 year old grandson underfoot has definitely put a strain on my patience. When his mom, who works for an insurance company...essential service provider gets home at 5 PM, I am ready to send them both upstairs with their home delivered meal for some quite time. I also am living with a new puppy, who barks at each neighbor walking their dog...6 feet apart..who knew there were this many dogs in my neighbor, she is wetting the floor as I too distracted by work and above mentioned toddler to remember to let her out every 2 to 4 hours. The purchase of a puppy sounded like a good idea before the GREAT shut in. Since I am feeling rather homicidal I have noticed that I have been drawn to every Revenge Drama that I have ever watched. The Promise, brought forth a bucket of tears. Unknown Woman ended way too nicely for my present mood. Good Job Good Job, was more enjoyable than the first time around. My pushy soon to be ex husband is pushing me to go to sleep, lights out...so I will end my rant here. If you want any recommendations for a good revenge drama, just drop me a line.

Hahahah...seriously? I think I will agree with you because most lakorns I have watched so far are like this. Watch…
There have been some that I really liked, you can check out my list for those top rated..but lakorns for me are hit and miss. Some are wonderful, some are just awful! It is the cultural differences and acting preferences for the most part that really bother me. I just turn the sound off a lot of times and enjoy the show much better.

Title Boss & Me
The orginal one was boring I started it but didn't complete it. Thai remakes is the best I hope this one will…
I actually loved the original one and have watched it all the way through several times. It was not fast moving, but I thought it was fantastic.

I loved this drama. I especially liked the fact that there were no evil 3rd parties involved. The mothers were all supportive and cute, which was a nice change of pace. It had lots of humor and understated romance. I want a season two real bad.

Title Confession
I loved this drama. I felt it was very enthralling for a court based show. I think it took me a few episodes to become invested in all the characters, but I was constantly checking back to see if any further episodes had been subbed. I like the way they showed how multi media could be used to force the system to do the right thing. It seems it usually used in a destructive way, so this was a nice twist.
