I definitely agree with you regarding it feeling like two overlapping scripts. The romance parts felt so forced,…
In the first 8 episodes or so, I had the whole thing mapped out in my head of what I thought the relationships would be if they didn't have to censor (without knowing anything about the source material): Obviously the two MLs would be end game, and the two FLs would be also. The Uncle who was in love with Ling'er would end up falling for the Yue family's loyal guard, as he was tasked with keeping the Uncle away. It felt like a fun dynamic. Obviously the show didn't stick to my head cannon :P Someone just needs to do some editing magic to make a version with just the MLs bromance.
Sigh... they really had to go het / BG on this. Tbh the bromance parts are quite good, and at times, it kinda…
I definitely agree with you regarding it feeling like two overlapping scripts. The romance parts felt so forced, it overall made the story feel disjointed, and it didn't really flow. The characters were all very fun though, and the bromance parts were very good.
This had so much potential, but unfortunately I found Emperor Liu Che's performance to be too one note and lacking energy that just couldn't match Mao Dun Jun's expressiveness. It was a great plot for a show, reincarnated destined lovers, but the quick cuts and editing just did not allow for any real emotion to shine through. 2 minute episodes can still work if each episode is a scene (like in "Nearly - Royal Highness"), but cutting every 15-30 seconds is just too frantic.
A competent show, but overall lacked a spark/chemistry for me.
If anyone is looking for a vampire palate cleanse after this show ending, I'd recommend checking out Bite Fight (2016) uncut version. It's a ridiculously camp gay vampire movie, that was a lot of goofy fun. Don't accidentally watch the cut version though, the uncut is worth it.
Weird incomprehensible scary. This is not a BL (the main characters may or may not be gay and there is absolutely…
I definitely agree. It starts out like a typical drama but then it takes a turn into the psychological angle. It was still an interesting short, but anyone looking for BL elements, or romance at all, would be disappointed.
I definitely agree about Poom! It felt like in the early episodes he was being left out due to translation issues, but they got into a better groove in the later episodes. And it was nice to have his perspective on the squad as a seasoned actor. Overall it was a fun show, it was just too bad only one couple was formed. I would have loved to see another final project from another couple. Actually, I would have really loved to see a special project from Chu & Poom at the end :P It was cute when they'd act out little scenes for the squad.
This was a lot of fun for a micro drama! The MLs had chemistry and it was even fairly suggestive at times. The bromance was very strong in this show. I only wish each episode could have been a little longer (because I am greedy). Overall production was decent, including acting, sets, wigs, and costumes.
It's really too bad that the subs are such poor quality, because at times it was difficult to follow the plot. Which is too bad, because this show had a nice mix of mystery, comedy, drama, and fun friendships. The bromance was quite strong too! Feels like this would be much more popular if the subs were better.
I watched this show desperately trying to chase the high that I got from watching Winter Begonia, but obviously this was never going to compare. That being said, the bromance was still strong enough to add the extra drama. The performances were fun and over-the-top like a soap opera. Overall a fun, trashy, watch.
I was really surprised that they did a cut-away/camera angle kiss... hoping this means we'll start with a good…
Lol I had the exact same thought! That whole āsleeping to get aheadā plot is mature, why canāt the main leads act like grown-ups too? Itās my own fault for still watching, haha.
