Coz that's what that literally means. Their frnd wrote their story-Fang Chi and Gao Zhun's story- into that novel, which had Zhang Zhun and Zhen Xin as main characters. So the show that we, the audience, were watching was the novel that Fang was reading.

all the episodes have end credits, and there were 2 at the end of the last ep. I think you'll understand the ending more if you watch it yourself. The ending there is different from the one in the novel. So the entire show is based on the novel, but the characters are better than the ones in the novel since their decisions can still be viewed in a different way than outright saying they're bad people. Also no, this does not romanticize anything related to SA, completely different from DH. Idk how you reached that conclusion, but that's never showed as something romantic here. They can't fundamentally change everything, as you said they should've done, coz then the characters would become flat and 2D. They have to do an adaptation that touches upon the sensitive topics while also not going off into complete dark territory.

I'm not supporting genAI. But I can't criticize a show coz it had 3 seconds of an AI chatbot included. Coz that would be invalidating the rest of the work that was done by humans fyi.

If you're someone who's isolated and without many friends you'd tend to do that more. I've seen it happen, and in China AI use is highly common, they even make AI intros so I'm happy they atleast didn't do that here lol.
