I'm usually okay with watching toxic relationships in BL, but there's still a fine line that can't be crossed or else I won't be able to watch it. That's the reason I dropped ABO Desire and DH, but still watching TMS coz its the only one where we already know what we're getting..they're upfront about it. Its still a difficult watch, and I'd say I enjoyed RH and DI a lot more, just coz the male leads were more morally grey but still treated their partners well, and there's no abuse involved. Especially Deep In, its one of the best Chinese BLs I've watched, not only coz of the plot and psychological aspect, but also coz the main characters are actually likeable, and have their own cute and fluffy moments throughout the drama, even tho some of their actions are questionable and can be triggering for some.

Actually I thought the director meant to show that only one couple is real- FC and GZ. And I also saw some people saying that they thought they are both real but in alternate universes where each couple thinks the other is fictional! There are so many crazy theories about this ending lol.

Now regarding the ending in the novel, you clocked it! Its confirmed that they are both real couples, and after ZZ and ZX were exposed as having a relationship, it turned into a scandal and they had to leave the entertainment industry and move to Canada. Coincidentally, FC and GZ by then were already married and also living there, and they met each other. This is kind of a surprise coz till now the readers thought the second couple was real, while our actor-couple thought they were fake. This proved that they were all real. So FC and GZ were the second male leads in the story all along.

Yeah I think they have a lot of potential but it keeps getting wasted. I loved them the most in LITA, but I wish they had more screen time there lol. They've definitely grown as actors and can deliver if given the correct script. I did see the hate online tho, its weird how obsessed these people can get, they're almost getting as crazy as the chinese fans!

Trust me when I say this- its a lot worse in the novel. I think they navigated that fairly well in the series, and still touched upon the material there as all of this is necessary to make people understand these characters and why they're doing what they're doing. Justin is more important than you think, definitely in the novel, and also in the series, coz he's interaction with Gao zhun shows us how crazy Gao zhun can actually get, all coz of his dependency on Dr. Fang. He gets even crazier and Justin has a more important role and screen time in the novel so ig they couldn't completely cut him out from the plot here.

Zhen xin is actually a brat, justifiably so, coz I have seen chinese actors just like him, tho I won't name them, who don't care about what consequences others might face coz of their actions! Also people actually think the assault here was handled more realistically than in other series, especially in ep 6. What happened later in the car was more coz of how GZ and FC are as characters, and I agree it might not be acceptable to real victims. Still I'll say they toned it down a lot, compared to what these two actually do in the novel.

Hi! Nice to see you here for a final review to this amazing series! I agree with you on having a preference for C-BLs, I feel like they tend to have better story telling and more nuanced characters. Not that there aren't many of those in the Thai BLs, but I'm also kinda a rookie in this genre, so haven't seen that many.

I'd say I'm happy with the ending, but there's one more layer in the novel that I wish they had followed. I do think the director simplified this a bit since even this ending made it confusing for many to understand what they were trying to convey.

Ollie started his career at an early age, and it also surprised me how experienced he is lol. I'm still eagerly waiting for their livestreams and events, so I agree about maybe never being able to move on from this show..I just hope we get to see their next project soon, whenever that is!

Haha actually in the novel its in more detail..the official ending of the movie that we see, not that end end credit scene, but the one where Gao zhun is fixing his tie, that's him going to interview for a position as a pysch prof. in a university I think. They also move abroad after that and get married!

Idk I've also watched till ep 4 and waiting for it to finish airing, but I've heard really good reviews about the latest episodes so ig you can try to watch a few more and see if it works for you? What I don't connect with is the random past life thing, like that's what put me off first

The characters are real, Fang chi and Gao zhun. They aren't the actors, the actors were the novel characters all along.

Yes! Yes it is. That's what the director wants us to think. But for some who aren't satisfied with this ending, and the storyline of ZZ and ZX feels a bit pointless..to them the novel ending is also there. There will always be this debate about whether they should've adapted the extra chapters of the novel or not for this final end credits scene, since it again changes the ending and how we view it.

Watch Don't be Too Emotional, its ongoing. Its also a kind of psychological thriller, and the actors even collaborated with Min and Toptap!
