Title 609 Bedtime Story Spoiler
The plot... is there, which is more than I can say about some other BLs. But it's not really that well done. It…
So, I've seen two opinions about this part that I want to touch on:

1. Why is Mint still friends with Dew / chasing Dew even after she's got rejected for xyz time?

Because she likes Dew, and probably doesn't have anyone else around she's interested in. As we've seen, other guys around her are plenty different from Dew. She's also pretty busy from what I can tell, while she still spends a lot of time looking after Mum. So she might not have enough time or energy to look for someone else.

Which leads me to another interpretation- Dew might be a safe choice for her. She knows he's generally well-behaved, nice to her (other than rejecting her), not a player (as far as we saw) and rich (is that the same universe? Maybe in both?). So it's only "logical" for her to like him. There's also a chance Mint doesn't want (isn't ready for) a relationship, and this is her way of justifying being alone - she already has someone she likes, who doesn't like her back.

Now, would I be able to stay close to someone who repeatedly rejected me? No. I would be horrified to show my face in front of them ever again. But she might be a bit more resilient than that.

2. Why doesn't Dew tell her he's gay? That would help her move on!

Yeah, no. For one, do we even know he is? Like is there a scene when he openly said that? I don't remember one. If he isn't gay, the whole thing falls apart. So let's assume he is.

Why should he tell her? She isn't entitled to that kind of information, plain as simple. Him being straight wouldn't change anything if he's not interested in her. She should just take the rejection either way - he doesn't want to be her boyfriend.

Even if he told her, there's no guarantee she would give up. Straight people can have crush on gay people and vice versa. There's even a chance she might want to "cure him" or pressure him to do it for his family's standing. Also, if she's just using him as a stand-in for potential boyfriend (see point 1), it wouldn't matter to her.

Him coming out to her could lead to way more than just her taking the hint. I don't wish to elaborate further, because I'm not in a mood for depressing thoughts. But remember Gameboys, for example. Saying someone you're not interested in their whole gender (rather than them only) isn't always letting them down gently and it could blow up in multiple people's faces.

Bonus 3. As for the possibility that Dew's fake-dating her and whose idea it was, I'll consider it once we have more indications of it. So far, I don't think it's true. But if that's the case, it could be messy.

The plot... is there, which is more than I can say about some other BLs. But it's not really that well done. It can get confusing in a bad way (people have trouble to discern the time and place), the plot doesn't move steadily (we spent most of this episode on not-so-important flashbacks), and we still get weird "aha" moments to move forward (like wth was the ending? Hope that's explained next episode).

Note 1: Fluke should fire all of his stylists from past projects. They aren't making him any favors.

Note 2: The whole Mint - Dew (1 or 2?) situation - under this comment for spoilers.

Note 3: What the heck is Mum's illness? Sometimes he looks like shite, other times he's perfectly fine. How long does it last, why won't he get it check out, and why won't he behave to get better? Is this another apple situation?

I swear, I'm only keeping up with this for the "multiple endings" quirk. And because I still hope they'll make Dew a villain πŸ’œ

The majority of first episode was okayish. It reminded me of more somber Senpai, ...

Most J-BLs are either OTT comedy/slice-of-life or really depressing, but this one isn't either. It's so subdued it's kinda boring. But the last two minutes were pretty good, and the preview seemed kinda entertaining... I'll give it more time to convince me.
On I Will Knock You Dec 19, 2022
This episode (5) was slightly better than previous one (4), but still not that good. Their behaviour is just too random, there doesn't seem to be any progress and some scenes are repeated over and over again (I swear if they silent-argue about the motorbike ONE MORE TIME).

It's a watchable thing, but not entertaining much. MSP started running circles around it since last week 😐
On Oh! My Assistant Dec 19, 2022
Finally caught up with episode 6, and I see only two reasons why this unbelievable misunderstanding carried on.

1. They had too much screentime (ridiculous thought for a korean BL), and somehow thought this conflict is a better used of it than some fluff or comedy towards the end. I'm used to it in long thai and taiwanese BLs, but it's my first time seeing korean BL try to do it.

2. They want to force sad, emotional pre-ending before fixing it at last minute. Korean BLs probably have higher ratings when they make their gays suffer a bit more, right before earning themselves a happy ending. This is pretty standard for K-BLs as far as I can tell, and makes more sense to me.

Either way, it's still insulting to the viewers, source material and the whole production team to go this way. It's also a ridiculous waste of our time. Thankfully it's so short, I might sacrifice another 20 minutes for them to get over it.

"Probably the Dad will get her to soften up."

That's what those 20 minutes will be for 😢

LMAO everyone knows Tinn's mom will turn out to be homophobic in the penultimate showdown for "Tinn's own good." Only to change her mind in 20 minutes once she sees how serious he really is about Gun πŸ₯°

The bad buddy reference imo is ok in MSP as MSP also appeared in BBS :-) so it’s more like a cute crossover.…
I would have been fine if it if those stories could co-exist in the same universe. But if I remember correctly, the way MSP group appeared in BBS isn't really consistent with this story (I would have to rewatch it to make sure, but it doesn't feel right).

Also acknowledging that Bad Buddy is a tv show in MSP universe completely ruins any potential of crossover, as does mentioning the actors' real names.

That was a joke in that Tiw was referring to his own role in Bad Buddy - the actor was in that. Remember, he said…
I understood it. I just found it kinda unnecessary and immersion breaking. It lightly knocked on the fourth wall.

Okay, this is mega cute. And funny. Getting better each week. The pacing is just right. No boring stretches or endless circles, but also no insta-love or 180s in character treatments. I don't even need for stuff to happen to be engaged!

The only thing I didn't like in episode 3 was the Bad Buddy reference. Like, the show is good enough to stand on its own! You don't need them shameless nods to make it more popular! It's a small pet peeve, but it really takes me out of the story. Similarly with Vice Versa, and MSP has much more to offer πŸ’œ
On Happy Ending Romance Dec 16, 2022
Really good! It lacked the tiny bit of an extra impact to reach Once Again levels, but overall it's still a compelling watch.

Because of the standard K-BL format runtime, we didn't get to delve deep into some interesting points - mainly the incident that harmed Cha Jung Woo and potential impact of the major revelation towards the end. The editing was also a bit confusing (especially during the first two episodes), which cost them more time in my opinion.

Ending scene was surprisingly great, though! They gave us what they promised, and I can see a potential for second season in it. The characters need a bit more space to develop imo and who knows? We might get another TMS2 out of it! But without the heartbreak, please. Happy Ending Romance only πŸ’™

Aside from that, we moved very little .

There are too many (3) cute boys in this! I ain't coping πŸ™ƒ

Now, for the second-rate points of plot, acting and all the other stuff.

I feel like acting is good. I know you people don't like characters that aren't really expressive, but I don't mind. I also found Nueng's actions understandable in the context. He's under a lot of pressure, doesn't look sociable much, emotionally he's probably a mess since [redacted]... I don't think he became "nice" towards Palm at the end. He just made it clear what he does and does not need from Palm. Plus feeling like his family doesn't trust him on his own.

Plot is fairly good. Simple so far, but entertaining. It's been done few times already, but it's far from being overdone. I kinda regret that I watched the trailer, since [redacted] would have been much more impactful otherwise. There are few clichΓ©s I just rolled my eyes on (e.g. the scene when they first meet and the fence one), but way less than in OISHI certified enemies-to-lovers engineer love story. I haven't noticed any product placements inserted into the story, which is a shame.

Objectively, this is of fairly standard quality so far. Personally, I haven't enjoyed first episode of thai BL so much in quite in a while! I guess I'm just biased, but it works πŸ’™

Now, what will I do with you?

My main take from this is - good, could have been so much better. It focuses more on multiple personal conflicts, rather than making one strong, clear point.

Ending episodes of each story are either rushed or underwhelming. Quality of stories goes steadily down with each segment. The first one is (aside from the ending) almost perfect, strong 9.0 score. The second one is still very clever, with yet another underwhelming ending. 8-8.5. Third one is... calm? Basic? While it manages to keep up with the darker, messy tone at start, it quickly devolves into mushy nothing and only slightly picks up at the end. 8/10 if it were a standalone, 7.5 in comparisson with previous stories. Fourth one was a major disappointment. It lacked message, clear direction and conflict for the vast majority of time. The ending was both rushed and underwhelming. 7 on its own, 7.5 if we're looking at the big picture. Overall score - generous 8.5 out of 10. Not a show you want to binge, though.

While the stories are slightly connected, only adjacent ones have enough overlap to warrant watching them all in order. The link is weakest between second and third story in my opinion, strongest between part 3 and 4. Which leads me to recommend watching WoY in these possible orders:

1. Watch only first 2 stories, episodes 1 - 10 (on gagaoolala for better translations)

2. Watch only the first story, episodes 1-5.

3. Watch first two stories, take a break, than watch story 3 (episodes 1-10, 11-15)

4. Watch only for the main CP(s) you're interested in - (1-5 for Billy-Seng, 6-10 for Gung-Korn, 11-15 for Mark-Milk, 11-20 for Toru-First)

5. Add story 4 to option 3 (episodes 1-10, 11-20)

6. Watch all episodes in the order they were released in, slowly.

7. Episodes 11-15(-20) if the first (two) part(s) were too strong for you.

Some other remaks :

I was surprised by the DMD cameos/promos/god knows what it was. But it didn't fit. I'm biased against the company. But it was weird either way.

It was a missed opportunity not to actually create the twitter polls from @GossipXoxo as the show was releasing.

Situation about the translations was messy, even after both AIS PLAY and Gagaoolala starting translating text messages. Often there was too much text, for too short of a period to read it. Which is something that should have been tweaked in editing, especially for important parts.

In conclusion, the series lacks in bigger picture, separate endings and editing/translation department. But it's still a good show, and one I recommend at least trying. If the first story feels too dark or messy, give story 3 a chance πŸ’œ

What a wide variety of clothes! Surely no one will notice 😊

Again with the interview hints. I liked it at first, but now it's becoming a bit overdone. If you plan to do it again, let Mon confront Sam about it please.

Ok. So instead Mon confronting Sam about it, we get side characters spilling the beans. That works too, I guess.

So we're spilling all the beans. In a very... direct way. Okay.
