The mystifying spell that erases memory can be undone. If you haven’t watched the last 5 episodes, you should, because it showed that one of such spells was undone at Chuzhou. So I have no doubt in season 2, that it would be undone.

In this drama, the mystifying spell (the spell that erases memory) has been cast 3 times. The battle of Lingyan (Shen shu and Lord Wei were present here), at Chuzhou by Duke of Zhenbei to cover up the massacre of Chuzhou citizens and finally, by Xu Qian’s father, to make everyone forget him. So far, the spell has been undone once, and this was at Chuzhou. So in season 2, it’s possible for the spell to be undone so everyone can remember Xu Qian.

The post credit scene of episode 40 hinted on a second season, which will be about the Witcher sect and Yunzhou arc.

About Lord Wei, I suspect he may not really be dead, Xu Qian’s father was referring to Lord Wei when he talked about equivalent exchange. Also, Xu Qian gave the Senior song at the astronomical bureau the alchemy codex, talking about rebuilding soul to achieve rebirth. But we will only get the answers in the second season.

Her character improved later on, but overall, she didn’t have a lot of screen time.

I assumed it’s something like Mandate of heaven that maybe materialized into an artifact, and it determines the prosperity of a country if its present or the doom of a country if it’s absent. When loong met Xu Qian, the dragon was attracted to some kind of bluish white spiritual essence that was radiating from him, which is probably the Fate/Fortune of Dafeng.

From the finale, the drama is set up for a second season. But I hope we aren’t kept waiting too long 😭

From the post credits scene, the second season will most likely be about the Witcher’s sect and what happened in Yunzhou.

So basically, there was a huge twist at the end. Just as Xu Qian was about to fight the Emperor, the hooded man in black cast a mystifying spell over Dafeng causing everyone to forget who Xu Qian is.

The hooded man in black is Xu Pingyan, Xu Qian’s father. He has been the person behind everything that has happened in the series, including putting Dafeng’s fortune in Xu Qian, and merging Shen Shu’s severed hand with Xu Qian. But the interesting thing is that, he told Xu Qian that he only cast the mystifying spell on Dafeng to protect him.

According to Xu Qian’s father, the supervisor, who we all thought was good all this while had been plotting to increase his cultivation and rank by taking the Dafeng fortune within Xu Qian. So by making everyone forget who Xu Qian is, his father was trying to block the supervisor’s plan and protect Xu Qian. He also said, the Dafeng fortune belongs to him and Xu Qian, which is interesting because isn’t it supposed to be a royal artifact?

Anyways, this story really needs a second season to tie things together. What happened to Shen shu? How did he end up with his severed hand at the bottom of the lake? What exactly is Shen Shu’s origin story? What later happened to the emperor? The drama said Lord wei died, but Xu Qian’s father mentioned something about sending Lord Wei back as an “equivalent exchange”? I know I might sound delulu, but maybe Lord Wei wasn’t actually dead? So many questions, but i guess we will find out in the second season. I hope we aren’t kept waiting for too long.

Lol. In the west, the saying goes, “Those who don’t learn from History are doomed to repeat it”. The sayings are actually similar.

I love the way Xu Qian dealt with those two useless men. Why do evil people cry for help when they receive the exact same medicine they dish out to others.

Aww Huaiqing and Lin An are much closer now, but I can’t even properly appreciate it cos this episode was so heavy.

I cried watching how Mr Zheng was brutally tortured and killed. This is so unfair.😭

Frankly, I don’t agree with Lord wei’s opinion on that. The Duke of Zhenbei massacred 380k people to be more powerful. If he had succeeded in becoming 2nd rank, how many people would be able to fight against him? And if he defeated the Kui and the Witcher’s sect, do you really think the emperor would have still punished him for the death of those 380k people after accomplishing these merits. Lord Wei has been in the capital plotting and plotting, but nothing ever really changes. The emperor always counterbalances his moves and regains the upper hand. It takes someone who is bold and fearless like Xu Qian to damn the consequences, and bring about change.

My blood was boiling watching episode 38. The emperor is literally scum. What’s sad is that scenarios like this still happen even now. A higher up in government commits a crime against the people. Initially politicians and citizens are in an uproar about it and ask for justice. But eventually, politicians are only loyal to their pockets and positions so they retreat at the first sign of threat. The citizens have their own hardships and lives to live after all, so eventually the crime is forgotten. Only in few cases, do the accused end up paying for their crimes. It’s so sad.

I feel so bad for Mr Zheng, those politicians only care about their positions and interests.

The emperor is such a tyrant…wtf.

She has been inflating the number of rebels he killed at Yunzhou. I should have known that’s her handwork. Lol
