What I’m getting from this story is that there are such powerful characters at play, and my boy is just a pawn. I hope he can get out of this unscathed.

Nooooo…Lord Wei is hurt. That was so hard to watch. I knew he would get upset when Xu Qian finally comes clean. Qian should have told Lord Wei about Shen Shu inside him regardless of Shen Shu not wanting him to say anything. I was surprised he kept quiet.

But of course, Xu Qian gripped Lord Wei’s thigh and started cajoling him. lol! I love this character a lot, he can literally get out of any sticky situation by nagging or cajoling.

The way the emperor’s face fell when he saw Loong rescue Xu Qian, I just knew he would plot to kill him later, and I was right 😑

Her major flaw in the earlier episodes was that she was always trying to compete with her sister, the grand princess. But she had a major character development when she discovers that her friend was murdered, and she leaves for a while to get over it. In later episodes, she still retains her straightforward and carefree character, without the immature need to compete with her sister.

I really like her character actually. She is not the typical Mary Sue Fl who is all smart and all knowing, and she is aware of her flaws. But she is quite adorable in her own way, and the ML likes her that way.

Shen Shu doesn’t remember who he is. The only thing we know about him for now is that he is a Tianyu sorcerer whose hand was buried under the lake in DaFeng. Then, the hooded man from the Witcher sect released his hand and eventually attached it to Xu Xinnian, so he is currently recuperating inside Xu Qian.

Huh? The ML is basically a pawn right now, some of the main players haven’t even been introduced. The Emperor, the supervisor at the bureau, Lord Wei, and the hooded man from the Witcher’s sect are some of those we know for now. The drama will most likely have a second season cos the world building is too vast to finish in 8 episodes.

She needs to do us and herself a favour and ask him outright to marry her, cos I fear this dude will never get it. Does he think she is kissing, hugging and taking care of him so much because he is her guest advisor? 😩

No, there is no time skip. He was stuck in an illusion cast by sorcerers that he had to break free from. In the illusion, time moves very quickly compared to our world, so 1 hour in the world is like 1000 years within the illusion. But he eventually broke free from the illusion within a few hours, and defeated the Tianyu sorcerers.

The mystery is still unravelling, so there is a lot we don’t know yet. From what I could understand, Shen Shu is a Tianyu sorcerer whose hand was buried under the lake in DaFeng. Till someone (the man in the black hood) released his hand using the royal sword from the first DaFeng emperor. The story hasn’t told us exactly who the person that released him is, or what his motives are, but what we know is that the person is hypnotizer from the Witcher sect with a very high rank. And this same hypnotizer was the one who attached Shen shu’s arm to Xu Qian’s body. Apparently, Xu Qian has a royal artifact within his body that can help Shen Shu rebuild his primordial spirit, so for now, Shen Shu has to reside within Xu Qian’s body and recuperate.

This hypnotizer also told those two Tianyu sorcerers where Shen Shu was, so they went to Dafeng to get him. However, Dafeng and Tianyu aren’t in good terms, so the supervisor at the astronomical bureau suggested a duel and picked Xu Qian to represent Dafeng.

So, the Tianyu dharma sorcerers cast an illusion formation where Xu Qian will be trapped in an obsessive cycle where he will experience a whole lifetime filled with tragedy till his mind disintegrates, except if he can break free from it. 1 day in the world equals 1000 years in the illusory formation. So basically, if Xu Qian spends just an hour (of normal time) within the formation, that’s over 100 years gone in the illusion. Which is why we see him old several times.

The illusion is made up of his past (before he transmigrated to Dafeng), and some from his present (his love story with Lin An). He never met Lin An in the modern world before he transmigrated, but the illusion created a false reality where he met her in the modern world, and her name is KeKe in the Illusion.

The illusion was set in the modern world too, which makes sense cos if you recall from the first episode, Yang Ling had a lot of regrets in his life, so when he transmigrated to Dafeng as Xu Qian, he decided to make the most of his time there by doing everything he couldn’t do in the modern world.

So setting the illusion in the modern world, with a mix of his past from the modern world and present from Dafeng and even a future where he couldn’t have the love of his life, was stuck in a loveless marriage and died lonely was meant to make him despair and lose his mind. Basically, his life was tragic and a complete failure. However, he was able to break free from the illusion by refusing to acknowledge his tragic life as a waste, instead seeing it as a unique experience.

They are still looking for the Witcher sect to avenge Xu Qian’s death. Lol.

I don’t think he will ever reveal his face. It’s supposed to be his thing to always stand with his back facing others. It’s same in the novel iirc.

Lin An taking care of Xu Qian is so cute. But she may have to blatantly propose marriage to him before he gets the hint atp, cos why the hell is he telling Xinnian that the reason he asked to be a noble is because of Simu and Xinnian’s relationship. Poor Lin An. Idk how her man can be so smart yet so dense at the same time.

Senior yang? He says it makes him look more imposing or something like that..lol.

Of all the arcs so far, the fox clan arc is the worst, I wonder what contemplation will be absorbed there? I just feel like with the other arcs, it was possible to empathize with their stories.

In the human arc, bai shuo’s father was so pitiful, and his story bore the kindness contemplation.

In the outlander city, the story of tian huo’s family was so pitiful and from there, the killing contemplation was absorbed.

Now in the fox clan, I don’t empathize with Chang mei/A Wu at all. She is just a despicable person who is extremely ungrateful, and it’s possible she may die in this arc, because both bai shuo’s father and tian huo’s father died in their respective arcs. I won’t feel sorry for her though, she deserves worse imo.

Honestly the story is still so complex and the mystery isn’t close to being unravelled yet, so it should have a second season. I just hope it has already been filmed so they don’t keep us waiting too long.

We haven’t unravelled the mystery yet. But we know something extraordinary is inside Xu Qian, but they haven’t told us the origin. And it’s because of the object inside him that makes his body a perfect vessel for Shen shu to recuperate. And it’s also what makes loong attached to him.

From what we know of Shen Shu, he doesn’t seem to be a bad guy, but he is a Tianyu sorcerer of great rank, so I guess we will see where the story takes us. I’m also curious to know why he was buried under the lake and why the sword of the first Emperor of Dafeng freed him.

The way Lord Wei looks at Xu Qian is so full of fatherly love and affection. I actually feel like Qian is much closer to Lord Wei than his uncle. I love their relationship so much.

Yes it’s slow burn but really sweet.

So the masters of yunlu academy and astronomical bureau had to lie to protect Xu Qian from the jealous emperor. That was smart on their part but it seems the emperor will continue to be wary of him.
