They really said no promotion for this drama whatsoever but we'll provide you with intergalactic levels of fanservice…
I’m sorry, what did I just read? Lol, if there was no censorship to worry about, pretty sure the director and screenwriters would have gone all out for the romance in this drama. Ao3 writers have nothing on this excerpt:
“ Liao Tingyan, I don’t want your cautious and restrained love. I want your control and possessiveness. I want your uncontrolled impulse to pinch my neck, kiss me, and scratch me until there are deep or shallow blood marks. It’s almost violent, but full of desire. I want my name engraved on every inch of your skin. I want my flowers to bloom forever in your soul.”
Yes! In episode 22 teaser, he actually told her that, he knows she wants to trust him deep down . I can’t wait to see how he will patiently win her over again. I love this CP so much, no drawn out angst or stuff like that. If this drama sticks the landing, it will go to the top of my rewatch list.
Tingyan falling asleep in his arms despite not remembering SJ is the most characteristic thing old Tingyan would do. Poor girl must have suffered so much in the demon realm. Nice touch there by the screen writers.
YouKu does it again, one ep a day. Anyway, totally unrelated to drama, while we are waiting for next ep. Here…
He has such an amazing voice. While watching this drama, and also lighter and Princess, I sometimes rewatch certain scenes because of the way he talks. His voice is deep and resonant, but still very clear. I hope he continues to dub his dramas, especially considering how few cdrama actors can actually dub their dramas themselves.
I love that Tingyan didn’t let the manipulations of Shi Qianlu poison her mind with revenge. I hope she gradually gains back her memories because seeing Sima Jiao so heart broken that she has forgotten him is painful to watch.
Ruling was a bitch in the immortal realm but she didn’t deserve that fate at all. That black snake is as incompetent as ever. How could he get so drunk and allow his underlings do such a thing. He will never forgive himself when he finds out. Poor Tingyan is now so good at killing but has nightmares everytime she kills.
Shi Qianlu is an evil ass manipulator. I won’t be surprised if he is not actually crippled but just pretended to be so he could easily manipulate Tingyan. But I love how Sima Jiao destroyed his clan and left him near destitute. Quick death would have been too easy for him.
Have you tried coroner’s diary, starring Li Landi and Ao Ruipeng as the leads?
If you can stomach the first 3 episodes with the info dump, the rest of the episodes is not too bad. The romance is cute and fluffy, and the couple don’t have any unnecessary misunderstandings. The FL is a genius coroner and doctor, and the ML is a prince’s heir, and they solve cases together.
Sima looks fresh n heavenly…. His hands r sexyyy too. Neck kiss is just 🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻. That’s the…
He is so goodlooking and I love how natural he looks too. Usually with xianxia dramas, the Mls cake on makeup, especially heavy eyebrows, eye shadow, eye liner and white cast foundation (cough… Tantai jin..). I usually overlook the heavy makeup cos it’s fantasy genre but I have to say it’s really good seeing a Ml with a fresh and minimal makeup look for a change. The Fl is gorgeous as well.

“ Liao Tingyan: "Be reasonable, friend, if there is someone around you who thinks for you, do you still want to think for yourself? If someone helps you do everything, do you still want to do it yourself? It's impossible."
I think this paragraph sums up the female leads personality and the complexity of that killing scene well. She is not judgmental at all about Sima Jiao killing because she understands that in the cultivation world, it’s either kill or be killed, besides he was justified. But she just wanted to avoid killing if she could help it, after all he was there to protect her. Frankly, in her shoes, I’ll do the same. Even soldiers in modern world that kill in wars end up with ptsd, how much more a modern young woman. Her growth in the story is that she will later start killing to survive, since the ml wasn’t around to always shield her.
It’s frustrating but I understand her. She came from the modern world, and the mentality here is not to kill…
In the next arc, we will see more of fighting and killing from her, after all she won’t be protected by sima Jiao forever. But for now, I understand her hesitation.
I think killing the son was stupid. They should have turned him against his father
He is too weak and dumb to do anything against his father. Even when he suspected his father killed his lover, the idiot did nothing and let his father brainwash him again that sima Jiao was responsible.
She fell in love with him again even without her memories, and the demon realm arc didn’t last too long.
So from the novel, that Shi qianlu dude wiped her memories and brainwashed her to believe she is his daughter and that sima Jiao is their enemy, and she has to kill him. But although she lost memories of their time together in the immortal realm, she’s still the girl from the modern world, so she maintained her ideals and she never wanted to kill the Ml. When they met, he was sad she lost her memories but he didn’t force her to regain them, he just treated her as before and she fell in love with him all over again. If the drama sticks close to the novel, this arc will be pretty interesting.
I actually like the way they handle the aftermath of him forcing her to kill. I understand both their perspectives. She now knows how to defend herself lethally if the need arises, and he understands consent and won’t force her to do what she doesn’t want to do.
Seems like the whole premise of the drama is lost on you. The FL is not a one dimensional Mary sue written to…
But that assertion is currently not true for most Cdramas these days. This fl is actually the first one in a while that’s honest about not wanting anything to do with power or revenge. If your preference is strong, ambitious, OP fls, there are lots of dramas that cater to that like Legend of Shen Li, the double, legend of female general, the glory, the coroner’s diary etc, and this is just off the top of my head.
Everyone keeps praising the "romance" and the "intimate moments," but if you look past that...…
Seems like the whole premise of the drama is lost on you. The FL is not a one dimensional Mary sue written to be all powerful and scheming from the onset. That’s the whole point. She is just a modern woman who transmigrated to the cultivation world, and just wants to stay out of trouble, and she doesn’t want to fight anyone or advance her cultivation. Eventually in the story, she will probably grow and adapt, but there is nothing wrong with her development currently. Infact, it’s quite realistic considering her personality from the modern world. There are lots of fantasy Cdramas with fls that are all powerful fighters, just watch those ones. Not every Cdrama FL will be the same.
Besides, if you have bothered to look up the novel, the ML is meant to be overpowered because his clan are the next thing to gods, and he is pure blooded, hence the most powerful in the cultivation world. I actually appreciate that the script writers allowed him to be powerful. So many Cdramas started out with powerful mls and they got nerfed for some random reason, Or their female leads even murder them for cheap angst.
This drama is basically a slice of life fantasy drama showing how the ml and fl found each other and fell in love all over again in each life time. Their love story and romance is the whole point. If it’s not for you, you can go watch something else.
