I’m really loving this “amnesia” arc in the demon realm, and it’s making me anticipate their mortal arc, cos the table will be flipped. If the drama follows the novel, he will be reborn as a tyrannical king and she a full fledged demon queen, will choose to be his concubine. I’m really curious to see how she will handle their dynamic then, cos I think SJ really handled her amnesia well in the demon realm. I wish this drama had 40 episodes, so we could spend lots of time with this couple.

It’s so good! Best drama this year imo, and the CP is one of the best in cdrama land hands down.

Yea, the reason why this amnesia arc wasn’t mad annoying is because Tingyan is so smart and rational. In some other xianxia drama, it would have been a completely different story.

Rewatching episode 24, and the scene where he asks “Am I your boyfriend now”, everything about the way AC acted out that scene is just so perfect. The hope, the hesitation, the sadness..I felt so bad for him. I thought I wouldn’t mind some angst but I really can’t stand seeing SJ unhappy. Glad they have started dating tbh, and he started with his small smiles.

By episode 24, her memories aren’t back yet but she was able to enter her soul manor to clarify some information for herself and see that she was actually in love with SJ. So she has accepted him as her bf now, and he told her not to worry about her memory loss since they would just create new memories.

The novel is heavily focused on the main leads. The drama actually added more subplots to stretch out the story. The novel is more like a slice of life xianxia following the love story of the 2 leads and how they always find each other across different life times. That’s why there is so much focus on how much they are drawn to each other and their innate connection, with less drawn out angst and minimal focus on supporting characters.

Both things kinda happen.

I wish this drama had 40 episodes, but since it only has 33 episodes, I won’t mind special episodes of only SJ and Tingyan just living their lives as a couple. I will miss them so much when this drama ends.

The way he hesitantly asked “Am I your boyfriend now”…oh dear…he is just like a hurt puppy. Tingyan please give him everything he wants 😭

I had to pause several times cos I teared up in the scene. It was sooo hard to watch. The poor baby looked so hurt. To make matters worse, that annoying feng qi was busy throwing jabs at him, I wanted to throttle him from my screen.

The best part about this amnesia arc is the way the fl figured out the truth for herself. It’s so refreshing the way none of Shi Qianlu’s schemes worked because the fl had common sense. This drama has ruined other xianxia dramas for me.

It’s amazing how a man that had been imprisoned for 500 years can be so emotionally intelligent. The FL (now Shi Yan) even without her memories felt drawn to SJ, but she still wasn’t comfortable because she felt the Liao Tingyan was the body her modern self took control over, and she had no connection to that body. Then, SJ said she shouldn’t worry if she can’t remember, that he would create new memories for them. That was so touching. It’s like he is asking Shi Yan out as her new self, not as a past self she can’t even remember. How could you not fall for that?

This is not the type of story to have a second male lead, I want to strangle that feng qi through the screen..WTF.

I would listen in a heart beat, bonus point is that He’s fluent in English too!

Both SJ and Mr Snake are suffering in love, my poor puppies.

Arthur Chen’s acting is really good. For someone who plays the cold, arrogant role well, you would think he will fumble with emotional scenes. But he does that even better. Idk, it’s not like he is loudly crying and wailing or stuff like that but I think his eyes express yearning and hurt well. Just with one tear rolling down his cheek and a small frown on his brow, and he just looks like a really sad cat, and it’s so unbearable to watch him upset.
