Not liking an actor is personal taste, and everyone is entitled to their opinion. But saying the ML in this drama is straight up a “horrible actor” is a troll take, plain and simple. I won’t bother engaging you anymore, so just shoo.
Rewatching episode 17, and the scene where Tingyan is pretending to be Madam Shi, then Nanjiu and one of Madam Shi’s boytoys barges in as SJ and Tingyan are making out in the room is so funny. Between Tingyan trying to play her role, SJ actually acting like her fav lover and Nanjiu smiling sheepishly looking as though he is both embarrassed and happy for them at the same time…the whole scene is just sweet.
Hope drama gods help this drama land the ending, it has so much rewatch value. The romance and chemistry of the main couple is one of the best I’ve ever seen in a cdrama.
Why is Ruling so hell bend on killing our ML when the true cause of her clan's suffering is someone else? Like…
Ruling is a demon disguising as an immortal, and Her family is imprisoned in the Immortal realm due to the war between immortals and demons which took place centuries back. The problem is that they can’t go back to the demon realm because the sima clan set up the immortal-demon barrier. So technically, only when sima Jiao dies would the border come down, since it’s basically his powers keeping it up.
If you would keep watching, you will see that after Sima Jiao used his spirit fire to destroy the Shi clan, there were holes in that immortal-demon barrier, so a lot of demons and immortals crossed over. And it remained that way while sima Jiao was “sleeping” for 18 years. But when he woke up, he sealed it back.
But I agree with you though. I felt Ruling was too short sighted in repeatedly trying to kill SJ and even betraying Tingyan and Nanjiu for that. She could have explored other ways but I guess she felt that she had no choice.
They really said no promotion for this drama whatsoever but we'll provide you with intergalactic levels of fanservice…

Yes! In episode 22 teaser, he actually told her that, he knows she wants to trust him deep down . I can’t wait to see how he will patiently win her over again. I love this CP so much, no drawn out angst or stuff like that. If this drama sticks the landing, it will go to the top of my rewatch list.
Tingyan falling asleep in his arms despite not remembering SJ is the most characteristic thing old Tingyan would do. Poor girl must have suffered so much in the demon realm. Nice touch there by the screen writers.

He has such an amazing voice. While watching this drama, and also lighter and Princess, I sometimes rewatch certain scenes because of the way he talks. His voice is deep and resonant, but still very clear. I hope he continues to dub his dramas, especially considering how few cdrama actors can actually dub their dramas themselves.
I love that Tingyan didn’t let the manipulations of Shi Qianlu poison her mind with revenge. I hope she gradually gains back her memories because seeing Sima Jiao so heart broken that she has forgotten him is painful to watch.
Ruling was a bitch in the immortal realm but she didn’t deserve that fate at all. That black snake is as incompetent as ever. How could he get so drunk and allow his underlings do such a thing. He will never forgive himself when he finds out. Poor Tingyan is now so good at killing but has nightmares everytime she kills.
Shi Qianlu is an evil ass manipulator. I won’t be surprised if he is not actually crippled but just pretended to be so he could easily manipulate Tingyan. But I love how Sima Jiao destroyed his clan and left him near destitute. Quick death would have been too easy for him.

If you can stomach the first 3 episodes with the info dump, the rest of the episodes is not too bad. The romance is cute and fluffy, and the couple don’t have any unnecessary misunderstandings. The FL is a genius coroner and doctor, and the ML is a prince’s heir, and they solve cases together.

He is so goodlooking and I love how natural he looks too. Usually with xianxia dramas, the Mls cake on makeup, especially heavy eyebrows, eye shadow, eye liner and white cast foundation (cough… Tantai jin..). I usually overlook the heavy makeup cos it’s fantasy genre but I have to say it’s really good seeing a Ml with a fresh and minimal makeup look for a change. The Fl is gorgeous as well.
