You feel sad for a coward who put himself first and killed his wife who he promised to protect forever?! I hope…
If you're going to look at it in a modern light, then you wouldn't understand. This drama is inspired by ancient China, hierarchy and class system was a thing. He's able to put himself first in modern society, but in ancient times? He could've if it was someone else other than the princess but otherwise no. Again, he had no rank until the Princess came along. She could kill his entire family. I suppose if you want him to protect his wife then he should've killed himself then. But what happens if Princess finds out? She would kill his whole family AND Xue Fan Fei together regardless. Of course, he'd rather kill himself now than choose to murder his wife again though. A little late for that tbh. Hence, I feel sorry because he's been manipulated, and now have to deal with the karma he deserves.
To be honest, I feel sad for Shen Yurong. Not only is he forced to kill his wife, he's also forced to be in a relationship(?) with an abusive elder princess. In a way, it's understandable that she's able to manipulate him like a puppet since she is a princess, and no one can deny what she wants. Furthermore, Shen's fam is of lowly rank. Every time they're both on screen, all I see is Elder Princess being very arrogant, bossy, self absorbed, gaslighting, and abusive towards Shen Yurong. The audacity to ask if Shen would bury Xue Fang Fei or kill her THE PRINCESS?! Are you serious? Who would dare answer the latter in front of her? tf The actress is really good not gonna lie.
It was likely an artistic choice for to visually show (and essentially spell out) the emotions everyone was feeling…
I understand what you're saying but it doesn't explain how the audience saw it as well. Realistically, it's kind of odd and out of place for a drama with no ties to the fantasy genre.
Not really it's just an imagery to show the impact of good music on the soul and how it could transcend the earthy
I agree, the CGI was amazing but the confusing part is the audience looking up at the sky like it was real. Hence, I was so confused .. is this lowkey fantasy if they're seeing that? LOL
This is the first time I've seen Chen Qiao En play an evil stepmother. Damn, she's good! I loved her in her Taiwanese idol drama days and still love her now. One of the best actresses out there! :O
Am I the only one annoyed by FL and her actions? Forging a marriage to make the ML believe he signed it in the future will eventually drive him crazy. x.x
When Fan Xian said to Rou Rou he almost wanted to kill their younger brother and Rou Rou okay "Let's do it, I've been wanting to do it for a while." lmfaoooooooooo
The comedy in this drama is still superb, it's not super exaggerated, it just rolls on their tongue so smoothly. I'm so glad it didn't change for season 2, it's rare to continue the essence of the first season for the sequel in cdramaland.
The actress is really good not gonna lie.
