I think it makes the character more realistic imo. Mental illnesses isn't always just one or two, it can manifest multiple illnesses.

One thing for sure, she was never attracted to him by love up until the last 2-3 episodes.

Maybe you're right because I can definitely see she hasn't fully accepted him yet but has begun to. I may have spoke too soon because the way I saw it was how gentle she was towards him all of a sudden and it threw me off course.

It feels like we're not watching the same drama. Up until the recent episode, there has been no slow burn. LOL No romantic chemistry between the leads because Xue Ning treats Xie Wei as a teacher who cares too much for absolute no reason. Put yourself in her shoes for once instead of the audience. Furthermore, as you said, they spent time as student/teacher there's nothing else besides that especially from Xue Ning's pov. In addition to that, I'm sure Xue Ning knows student/teacher romance is taboo in itself. Hence, the father refused Xie Wei to be near her while Xue Ning cared more about her own freedom than a love interest. She never treated XW like a romantic interest until the recent episode.

All of a sudden they're kissing, she went from hating him to accepting him in one episode. It's difficult to accept her abrupt change of feelings. Xie Wei is a well written character but he's a major red flag, just not someone you want to be in love with.

Off topic but oh my god, from the moment Lin Shao Qian appeared I was wondering why he looked so identical to James Lee from Royal Pirates! LMAO It took me 13 episodes to realize it was really him when Mo Bai said, "Your Chinese isn't so bad." LOL I DIDN'T EXPECT A KOREAN (AMERICAN) TO APPEAR IN C-DRAMA! Wow, I hope he appears in more c-dramas in the future, his acting is quite good thus far!
