On my "Best Historical Dramas" list, it says that Splash Splash Love has "38 voters", but at the top of the page it says "2 voters". Is this a bug? Or do the two numbers not get updated at the same time?
I created a lot of new lists, in case anyone wants to check them out (not all of them show up on the popular lists page, but you can see them on my profile).
I love The Handmaiden, that's how a erotic thriller is directed right, have all of those films, some seen, some…
I watched The Departed before Infernal Affairs. I like both, but I prefer Infernal Affairs.
If you like High and Low and Stray Dogs, you'll probably like The Bad Sleep Well. All three are good, but I think High and Low is the best of the three.
Here are some of my favorite thriller movies. Some of these movies are mixtures of several genres, so I'm sure which ones to include. I tried to indicate the genres for most of them.
Japan: High and Low (1963) (police) The Bad Sleep Well (1960) (police) Confessions (2010) A Snake of June (2002) (erotic thriller) Lady Snowblood (1973) (action/revenge)
Korea: The Handmaiden (2016) Oldboy (2003) (revenge) The Host (2006) (monster) A Tale of Two Sisters (2003) (psychological horror) Snowpiercer (2013) (dystopian action) The Housemaid (1960)
HK: Infernal Affairs (2003) (police/triad) There are a lot of great HK action movies, which could maybe be considered thrillers, but I already posted my action recommendations in "Ask MDL: Action".
Yep, we removed the dropped rating as we didn't see any real benefit.
The dropped rating seems to be back. Did you change your mind? I noticed that 1 Litre of Tears has a very high dropped rating (8.39). I guess some people think it's good, but drop it anyway because it's too sad. Eternal Love has a surprisingly low dropped rating (2.98), I guess because the worst episodes are in the first half of the drama?
lmao, funny to have this article happen now, when yesterday's morning i just checked out the wikipedia page of…
For anyone who's looking for movie recommendations, here are some of my favorites (from the 2000s): All About Lily Chou Chou (2001) Snake of June (2002) Gozu (2003) Survive Style 5+ (2004) The Taste of Tea (2004) Noriko's Dinner Table (2005) Summer Time Machine Blues (2005) Tokyo Sonata (2008) Love Exposure (2009)
Koreeda is great too, but I prefer his more recent movies (my favorites are Shoplifters and Our Little Sister).
“a cinema connoisseur claimed that nothing good ever came out in Japanese cinema throughout the 2000s and Bayside Shakedown series is the best example of that"
I don't think any real cinema connoisseur would make this claim. I think whoever told you this was trolling you. If you want to prove the nonexistence of good Japanese movies from the 2000s, you need to watch all of them. A single example isn't enough.
Bookmarking this! I need a write up like this about dramas and movies that are the perfect mix of action and romance,…
Here are a some action-romance movie recommendations:
A Chinese Ghost Story (1987) A Chinese Odyssey parts 1 and 2 (1995) Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000) The Iceman Cometh (1989) The Bride with White Hair (1987)
The Killer (1989, HK) Eight Diagram Pole Fighter (1984, HK) Unce Upon a Time in China (1991, HK) Red Cliff (2008, China) Dragon Inn (1967, Taiwan) A Touch of Zen (1971, Taiwan) Police Story (1985, HK) Drunken Master (1978, HK) Ashes of Time (1994, HK) A Chinese Ghost Story (1987, HK)
I read the manga "Town of Evening Calm, Country of Cherry Blossoms" but I didn't know there was a movie adaptation. It's by the same author as "In This Corner of the World" which some of you might know from the anime movie.
@Cdramabase: I have a few suggestions that might make it easier to raise money.
You say "The amount we have set as our funding goal will allow us to complete the subtitles for our ongoing subtitling projects in the very near future." I suggest putting a list of all your ongoing projects on the Kickstarter page. I think more people might donate if they know which dramas are getting subbed.
Instead of just one big goal of $3,366, why not have some smaller goals, for example one drama (or one episode) for every X amount of money raised?
On your website, I see that some of the subtitles were funded by CN Drama. If they already funded a few dramas, maybe they're willing to fund more. Maybe you can contact other Youtube channels as well, to see if any others are willing to fund you.

Suggestion: When you create a voting list, warn the user if a similarly-named list already exists. Otherwise we'll end up with a lot of duplicates.
I agree that HK makes the best martial arts films.

If anyone's looking for a great war movie to watch, I highly recommend The Human Condition trilogy, probably my favorite war movie of all time.
