Could you either give the names in hangul or just the english names? lolThe only two I can get from this are The…
The Housemaid (1960, Kim Ki-young) Insect Woman (1972, Kim Ki-young) Io Island (1977, Kim Ki-young) The Day a Pig Fell Into the Well (1996, Hong Sang-soo) The Foul King (2000, Kim Jee-woon)
The Oscars still have a ways to go to opening their minds and recognizing their biases. Not sure how a film that’s…
Most of the Oscar voters don't even watch foreign films, so I've never taken the Oscars seriously. Parasite won the Palme d'Or, which I think is more impressive than winning an Oscar.
Parasite was also voted best film of 2019 by IndieWire (in a poll of 304 critics).
"There are many masters that have yet to be introduced to the Western audience." If anyone is wondering who these masters are, Bong Joon-ho published a list of his 50 favorite films several years ago. There were 5 Korean films on the list: Hanyo (1960, Kim Ki-young) Chungyo (1972, Kim Ki-young) Iodo (1977, Kim Ki-young) Daijiga umule pajinnal (1996, Hong Sang-soo) Banchikwang (2000, Kim Jee-woon)
I think the limit of 2500 watchers is way too high. Even Seven Samurai doesn't have that many watchers. Of my top 50 Japanese movies, I think 49 would be eligible for this list.
If I made my own list, I'd probably set the limit at 250 ratings (I think this is the limit that MDL uses for the top-rated list, so anything with fewer ratings isn't ranked).
Thanks for the article. If you haven't seen it yet, I would recommend the South Korean documentary, Repatriation. It's about North Korean prisoners in South Korea. They're released from prison, and later they eventually return to North Korea.
It is very unique and very quirky!! A proper little feel good film wrapped up with a lil scarf!Ahh I adore them.…
Letterboxd has an app, so you can use it for movies. You can TV time for TV. trakt.tv has both movies and TV (but I haven't tried it so I don't know if it's good). They don't have an official app, but there are 3rd party apps.
For Asian webcomics you can try Mangaupdates, but I don't think they have an app.

I just made a Letterboxd account to see what you mean. I think I prefer iCheckMovies' list page design. There's a compact view so you can browse lists more quickly. There's a checkbox next to each film so you can quickly mark it as watched, and easily see which films you've watched (on Letterboxd you have to hover over the image to see the watch icon). You can also filter by clicking tabs (which is easier than using menus, imo), and you can export lists.
Letterboxd does have some features that iCheckMovies doesn't have, for example you can rate movies, sort lists by rating, or filter by decade or genre. Letterboxd lets you write reviews, but iCheckMovies only lets you write comments (although some people post reviews as comments).

Some of my friends use trakt.tv to keep track of what TV shows they watched. Personally I don't use it, so I don't know if it's good.
I use iCheckMovies to keep track of what movies and TV I watched. There isn't an easy way to keep track of what episode you're up to, but I only watch 1 TV show at a time, so it's easy to remember. iCheckMovies isn't as popular as Letterboxd, but I think iCheckMovies is a good choice for people who like lists, and want to keep track of their progress on various lists.
I also use Anime-Planet for anime and kisskh for dramas.
On second thought, I created a separate list for movies. You can move them there. I added the ones here to that…
Thanks. I'm the one who voted for The Wedding Banquet, Funeral Parade of Roses, Happy Together, and Tropical Malady, in case you want to remove your votes for those movies (otherwise the votes will be counted twice).
It would be easier to discover lists if we could see which lists contain a particular drama. Drama pages only display 3 lists. Would it be possible to add a "View all" button?
On the List Index page, would it be possible to add "Lists I Have Voted On" underneath "Lists My Friends Have Voted On"?

Is it possible to merge 2 lists? I would've deleted my own list, but it already has more than 1 voter, so I don't want to lose the data.
