I read the novel so I thought it would have a lot of romance and kisses haha. But I’m content with this too. Their love is a more deeper understanding than physical

I find I like ljq more than uncle gu. Only bc I don’t see the same depth of realization and understanding uncle gu has for minglan as ljq has for lx. I can visually and mentally see ljq’s admiration gradually increasing the longer he is with lx.

Not if some people expect the same level of passionate, all-consuming love. People tend to see what they want to see. Some viewers can feel her love because they take the time to notice the little details, while others simply can’t. And that’s okay, it is what it is. I just want to share my perspective.
Idk if you’ve seen TSY’s other drama, As Beautiful As You, but I actually feel like LX’s way of loving is similar to ML (Han Ting) in that drama, while LJQ is more like FL (Ji Xing). LX has many other priorities in her life-her family, friends, career, etc-and love is one part of her life, but it isn’t all-encompassing. However, within that one aspect of her life-her romantic relationship-she gives all of herself to LJQ. I hope that makes sense.
I think that’s what makes her love easy to misunderstand. Love isn’t necessarily the center of her entire world, but when it comes to LJQ, she gives him her whole heart within that part of her life.

I actually think Lanxiang does love him, just in her own way. I understand why some viewers say they can’t see or feel her love for him, especially when compared to Lin Jinqi. His love is so obvious—passionate, intense, and completely unrestrained. He openly pursues her, fights for her, and never hides how deeply he wants her. His love is like fire: you can see it immediately.
Lanxiang’s love is completely different. Her love is quiet, restrained, gentle, and deeply buried. The video compares it to water-unlike fire, water doesn’t immediately draw your attention, but it can run much deeper and last much longer. She doesn’t constantly say “I love you” or show her feelings in dramatic ways, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t love him. Her love is shown through her waiting, her understanding, her acceptance, and the quiet choices she makes.
I also think the important thing is that Lanxiang’s entire life isn’t centered around romance. She has her own principles and her own path in life-her way of living that is guided by saving herself, helping others, protecting her heart, and preserving her kindness despite everything she has experienced. That’s why her love for Lin Jinqi feels so different. Her love has almost become part of who she is and the way she lives, rather than something she constantly needs to express outwardly.
So I think people sometimes miss Lanxiang’s love because they are looking for Lin Jinqi’s kind of love in her. His love is fire-loud, passionate, and impossible to miss. Hers is water-quiet, subtle, and easy to overlook, but still very deep. Quiet love is still love. Just because she doesn’t love him in the same way he loves her doesn’t mean she loves him any less.

The classics that I really enjoyed and of similar quality. Story of Minglan (ofc), Joy of Life s1 and s2, Nirvana in Fire (only s1, I didn't watch s2), Yangxi Palace, Go Ahead. You could also try Startling by Each Step (same script writer).

I might rewatch this and it definitely will feel different, It will feel like I'm watching their past when they were youthful, going through memory lane.

Thank you! Well explained, I feel like those that say she didn't love him enough or didn't reciprocate the same level of feeling. They don't truly understand their relationship and LX as a character.

What your aunt said about a woman having more blessing if their man loved them more. I kind of see it in my gma. My gma is 98 and her husband passed away 25years ago. I still hear her from time to time that she misses my grandpa, and I know he doted on her. Sometimes I can feel the lonliness in her too.

I had heart wrenching cries when ljq tied the red string all over lx and his body. I really really felt the love and devotion he had for her. I thought he would just tie their hands together and it would've been romantic enough for me. But, to tie the whole body, oh god. Then him wanting to ensure the matchmaker god find the right wife in his next life: his betrothed was shenjialan the one he married was xulanxiang. My god, I really couldn't handle it.

Not even giving me a break, the next scene where all the female characters die off one by one, and in the order of who died first, so Xiaolan passed away first.

This drama truly a wonderful peice of art, I don't have words to describe this.

It's really beautiful. I actually cried listening to the audio drama. I think that's also why I stopped haha.

I gotta give my applaud to ljq, he's a great father. Most parents want their daughters to be demure, learn to sew, play the instrument and paint. Learn ettiquets and all that boring jazz, but ljq gave a sword to his daughter and taught her to wield. That's something no man typically allow.

Have you by chance read or watched the drama "Faithful to Buddha, Faithful to You ". When I first listened to the audio book I really enjoyed it, but I stopped at the 2nd installment. There's a cdrama adaption but it also didn't have an ending

I didn't cry for Han Scholar's ending. Instead, I felt pity, a waste of a person that truly cared for the kingdom who wasn't greedy. I felt a bit of anger as well. The Han prince becoming new king, I felt like there was hope for a better future and then the retired king is back and the eunuchs are back in power. Han Scholar truly did not deserve to go like this.

Crazy a resigned king can come out of retirement and become king again. I'm aware the circumstances where he was captured and needed a new king to rule to steady the throne and kingdom. But still, it's crazy. I would've thought the retired king will just keep retiring.

If they could, in modern time it would be a shot gun wedding

I really like what Xie scholar said to 2nd sis. "heaven made us take a longer road to meet each other, to become a better us to truly meet again". I thought that was so sweet. I also really appreciate 2nd sis being honest and frank about her earlier romance in her youth. Starting fresh with honesty is the best way, much better than hiding secrets and pretending who you aren't

I feel like romance it really depends on the script writer. ATC had a lot of romance and it turned in to struggles and survival of women

That's so wonderful. However, the women that had to endure it, even if they are free they will live life of disgrace from friends and public. They may be free from shackles but never truly free from society and judement

This drama is amazing. It can make me dislike character to loving and cherishing them in the end. I find 2nd miss loveable and lively, living the life she wants and staying true to what she believes. Fate has it's strange ways. 15years ago, Xie scholar and 2nd sis were not a match for each other, but after what they've experienced, their view of life has changed and they are at the same point of time where their beliefs and values align making them the perfect match
