Ep 43, the parallel of LX first entered as a maid and now her as the matriarch as Lin family. Her walking through the couryard through the seasons with her girls behind her. Idk how to explain this weird feeling building up inside me. Then 7 YEARS PASSED. WTF.
I feel like many forget LX's family all died infront of her eyes. Witnessing this, and experiencing death herself changes a person drastically. Ofc she's going to be closed off, ofc she's not going to express her emotions at will, we can see her depressed at times too. Yet, everyone expects her to love ljq like other dramas, expects her to be dramatic with her emotions. No, she's going to bottle everything inside bc that's her way of coping, that's how she survive the tragety.
There's some similarties with Minglan, but still vastly different. Minglan still has her family, her siblings, her grandma. LX had no one left. Minglan was able to get her revenge for her mom, LX can only blame fate and heaven. ML is concubine born but never lived as a slave, even at her lowest point as a child she still had a maid with her. LX is the servant. Even if it's a forced marriage in some ways for Minglan, Uncle Gu still gave Minglan an option to say no. She is still from a noble family, Uncle Gu would still have to go through the proper match making customs. Lx didn't get any of that bc she's a servant. Her feelings and rights were never considered by ml, instead she was ordered to marry him by royal decree. There's slight similarity and people blow it out of proportion, when there's obviously more difference.
Sometimes, understanding one another, being their for each other means more than saying "I love you" outloud. LX telling LJQ to cry to let out his emotions and that she will accompany him to cry meant so much more to him. LJQ was borned as first grandson and older son of Lin household. He was born with too much pressure and too much responsibilities. He can't just live aloof floating through life like his 3rd brother. He has to carry the family lin, to make something of himself since his father and uncle are useless. The only time we see a glimpse of him being childish is with his mom. He can become a son that acts coquettish to his mom, now that person is gone. I'm glad LX is there for him
2nd Lin Madam is a person that can't make decisions. She's not assertive and soft eared so her DIL can easily puppet her. 2nd Lin Madam does treat Madam as her sister and look to her for guidance. When Madam passed away, she was the last person that kneeled and bowed. She and Madam are of same generation so she doesn't have to give a grand bow like Madam's children. If we look at when 2nd brother passed away, all the maids bowed but only his siblings kneeled. So technically, 2nd Lin Madam only needed to kneel, but she bowed instead which meant she paid great respect to Lin Madam. I don't think she cares for the power and being matriarch, it's more of her DIL.

He's really a useless person all his life. Failed as a father, son and husband. But guess what, he lived a good life. He had the wealth and power of Lin family. He could enjoyed his women, had his primary wife taking care of the daily household, and his wife treated his concubine children well, he had a capable son he could boast to. I hate that for him
