This was a really good short drama. If you're looking for good chemistry, an excellent man with seemingly no faults what-so-ever who is completely devoted to his woman and is handsome as hell, a reasonable FL that isn't annoying in any way, an interesting twist, dreamy interior shots, and a few bed scenes and kisses, then this is the drama for you. I binged it one afternoon.

On Viki there are only 8 episodes but each one is about 20 minutes long, twice as long as what is listed here.

And yes, I found this drama because of MJTY. Swooning hard for XHS.

To me, the blurred out guy looks like Prince Yue and apparently the bracelet he is holding when he becomes an elder was worn by YWS's Wufeng sect sister.

Then why did her raven specifically point out that she would become Chi after taking the bugs?

So then that really should mean that when she took the bugs and her raven told her she would become Chi, she did reduce her power. I wonder what level she's really at.

I dont think so either. Just the fact that he let them trap him in that valley with that tattoo proves he's not weak. He doesnt know much about the whole Gong family so he comes across as stupid, but he is only ignorant of what goes on there because he never felt a part of the home he grew up in. He is definitely weak to women though. : )

It's also suspicious they didn't show the mans face when GZY was remembering when he was first in the back hill. That man is definitely important.

I love this drama but I am having trouble figuring out exactly what YWS's mission is. If it is simply to kill the Sword Wielder, then why help him with the trial? If she is playing a long game and plans to take down the whole Gong family as others have suggested, how can she do that when the insects will kill her in a short period of time without the antidote? I sure hope that gets explained because if not, that is a huge problem with the story and one I'm not sure I can get past.

When I saw that scene, I was under the impression that she wouldnt be ranked at all until she took the bugs which would enslave her further to Wufeng, but now that you mention it, it could be that the bugs reduced her ability and rank.

What a cliffhanger ending!!! And Elder Young Miss was just cracking me up through the whole episode. I love her so much!

Based on the trailer, I thought I was going to hate the character that turned out to be the sister. She is so damned funny! That scene of her walking through the guys training was hysterical! I totally love her character now.

So far this is dark and deliciously smart. It's going to be tough waiting for new episodes. Not sure if this will have a happy ending or a sad one. I dont mind sad endings. I just hope I dont watch characters suffer for years only to wind up dead. If I'm going to watch a character suffer all the time, I want them to have a happy ending to make up for all that suffering.

What's the name of the prequel?

Ugh, how sad that she turns nasty. Though, she did give us all a hint how bad she can be when she was ok with attacking innocent people because she got offended. I was hoping that was just a blip in her character. Guess not. LOL!

While XL is a pitiable hottie, I still dont ship him with XY because she loves Jing so much. I think she cares about XL but not in the same way she cares for Jing. I think she pities XL, but she also fears him a great deal. I just don't see how it could ever work out for those two.

I'm really starting to dislike the prince. I think he's doing everybody dirty just to get what he wants, especially the Chenrong sister. She is so adorable. Her brother is equally adorable but at least he knows what he's gotten himself into with the prince. That poor sister has no idea. I feel sorry for her.

Thank you for the news update! I am not sure I'll enjoy the second season without XZ, but I'll probably still give it a try.

This series was epic. It was unlike any other cultivation series I've ever watched before. The beginning had an original Star Wars kind of feel to it. It was absolutely brilliant. Ning Que in this first season was such a great character and Sang Sang was so darned cute without being annoying at all. All the side characters were intriguing and well fleshed out. Their interactions with our leads were very well done and I cared about so many of them. I have no idea how I've never heard of this show before last week. It came up as a recommendation on Viki but I have never seen anybody reference it in any comment section in any cultivation series anywhere and I really cant understand why. The characters keep you guessing from the beginning to the very last minutes of the final episode and that is extremely rare.

Some of the interactions between the characters were so moving. SS and the old man for example. Those perfectly happy moments at home were so beautiful and I could really feel the old man's love for her. Same with NQ's old man. Their time together was so magical.

The whole production really felt like a big-budget movie to me. The adventures and the fights were grand and the landscapes I saw were absolutely spectacular. The dubbing was so well done in the first 20 to 30 episodes that I swore it wasn't dubbed at all, except for the children of course. And the fight scenes, especially the final one, just freaking blew my mind most of the time.

I thought the chemistry between NQ and SS was through the roof, but it wasn't a romantic chemistry at all. I felt like NQ loved SS but as a little sister and a friend, but nothing more. Reading about this story after I got totally hooked on the series and learning that they became romantic, I kept waiting for the chemistry to develop but it never does. Not on NQ's part anyway. The extreme height difference between the two really threw me off as well. I really couldn't imagine those two being romantically involved because of it. And the fact that NQ seems far more romantically interested in all the other women around him didn't help the situation at all.

I am not sure I can really enjoy the second season. I started watching it and the actor playing NQ just doesnt cut it for me. CFY was perfect as the rugged young warrior in the desert and changed perfectly along with the character as he developed into a cultivator. I've only watched a few episodes of the second season and would rather rewatch the first season again all because of CFY's portrayal of NQ. Maybe I'll come back to season 2 eventually.

I wouldn't call it happy or sad because it cant really be considered an ending. It's a break in a continuing story. That said, it is sad, but beautiful with a healthy dose of hope thrown in for good measure. At least that is how I felt. I avoid sad endings like they'll kill me, but this is a show I plan to rewatch often.
