Have you tried Love Between Fairy and Devil. Awesome show! I thought Dylan was perfect for that role.
He was good in that one, but he's just kinda goofy lookin. He's okay, but when some people say he's fire I just can't get behind that. He's decent-ish. There's just so many hotter more charismatic c-actors out there.
ππππππ-Angry, watched it coz too stubborn to drop it- ππ
I read someone in the recc forum who claimed there would be a "lust" element to this one, so I waded through all those episodes like "ok annny minute now.... annnny minute there's gonna be some spice happening..."
Ha, yeah, at episode THIRTY FREAKIN ONE. I musta fell asleep about 5 times all in all and by the time the ending came around I literally had a headache and couldn't enjoy it. That's time I wish I had back. I gave it a 6.5 because I though if nothing else, Bailu's performance was kind of cute and kind of entertaining.
Cute and heart-fluttering. Their chemistry is explosive. Shi Yan appears stoic but is soft and sweet for Shu Yi.…
I for one didn't find it explosive. For explosive, I'd go for Hidden Love, Devil Beside You, Lost Romance, and Lesson In Love. I'd call this pairing's chemistry more... decent. It IS decent chemistry, just not the most electrifying I've ever seen.
I think - after having put up with all 36 episodes - that the best way to watch this is with extremely extremely liberal use of the FFWD til around episode 30 or 31. All one needs is just the barest understanding of the basic plot and characters, and the payoff is all concentrated in the last several episodes. The ending was a little too saccharine for me, but not that bad. The kiss scenes were decent - hot but very brief.
Please can someone recommend interesting Chinese drama
Extremely Perilous Love... My Lethal Man... Eternal Love of Dream... My Fated Boy... A Dream of Splendor... Til The End of the Moon... and for Taiwanese, I really liked Lost Romance... Devil Beside You... Lesson In Love... The Rose... and Meteor Garden.
Overrated drama. This drama can only appeal to specific age range.
idk, i'm not in the age range you're probably thinking of, and I don't generally like Rosy in other things. She started out playing this "little girl" chinese stereotype and I thought "ah, god, here we go again with the chinese FL baby routine". But I just kind of kept watching, and I started to appreciate how Rosy didn't take the 'little girl' thing too far and become annoying with it. Not only that, she starts off playing a character younger than she is in RL, and she is so eerily good at it that it almost doesn't even seem like she's acting. And that's a sign of good acting. So I kept watching, just fascinated by her performance. I was waiting for it to start to suck, but it never did.
She has to then play a character at this awkward stage between kid and adult. And she does that in an eerily real-seeming way also. She never pushes her character out of it's boundaries and overacts. Even though there's comedy in the drama, and there would be temptation to overact, and in other dramas she has shown that she can overact sometimes. So it feels like you're watching like a culmination of her acting experience, that everything clicked into place for her to just completely nail this role with no mistakes and no flaws in her performance, and for me who doesn't really like Rosy, that's quite a sight to behold. This drama changed my opinion of her.
Then she has to play someone more comfortable with herself and mature toward the end of the drama, and she played that just as well too. I'd say... ask another actress to do that, to portray someone at 17, at 19, at 21 all in the same drama. And see if they could do it that naturally and realistically. Most actresses - in any country - wouldn't be able to do it as well as she did. So just for that performance alone, on a strictly artistic level, I think it's worth a watch for people who are drama affectionados, not necessarily in that age bracket.
And then Victor Ma's performance as the brother was phenomenally good as well. Which becomes more interesting when you see that he doesn't have a lot of acting experience under his belt. I just thought this was worth a lot more than just some "target audience" crappy drama. I think all the awards its winning are 100% justified.
I don't like this genre at all. I was completely ready to skip a lot or drop. I kept watching because I felt I was watching something with actual cinematic merit. It was a very magical experience for me, I was completely delighted by it despite the fact that this is like one of my least favorite genres and I went in skeptical of the FL. IMO this was Rosy's best performance ever. At least the best of everything I've seen her in. So I think to separate it out by the age of the viewer is not how I would characterize it's popularity, personally...
Maybe (I donβt know, I havenβt watched Hidden Love) but heβs not famous enoughAnd the producers will not…
Well he has fame now. That was some fo the best acting I've seen in a long time, and I love that other people can see it too. HL is crazy popular and crazy good. They should just not mess with a good thing and recast Victor.
I've never experienced this level of 2ML syndrome before. Girl, are you crazy?!?! μγ γ γ γ μ§μ§?! μ§μ§ μ§μ§???
Anyways, it was mildly humorous in spots but not consistently. The story was a little bit silly but not bad. The gender-bending stuff was so consistent that this was almost a BL romance basically. The acting was sort of comedic and cheesy but not bad. There was zero chemistry between the leads, and I mean none. No spice, no kilig. The best quality of this drama was the throwback feel of it, if you like the classic k-drama vibe. ML was also moderately attractive.
Granted, I am a hard grader, but I gave it a 6. There wasn't much that stood out about it.
Simply the best...instantly became one of my all time favs... Super light, simple, Heart whelming,no silly misunderstandings…
I'd just add for people deciding whether to watch or not that although it has a lot of "cute" in it, it is also powerfully sexy without being racy. I don't know how they did that, but they did. This drama is sexy af. It's kind of like watching someone make a fire in the wilderness from moss and sticks. At first you think nothing is happening. Then you start seeing wisps of smoke. The smoke slowwwwwwly starts to smolder hotter and hotter and then pouf! There's fire. And you're like "how'd THAT happen?!?"
I just saw him in Hidden Love... holy sh*t he was so awesome. He stole every scene he was in with Rosy and Zhe Yuan -- not an easy feat. Then I found out he sings, and he's GOOD. And he's friggin absolutely gorgeous too... omgggg he NEEDS an ML role so so so bad.
This is an extremely simple, light story which I can't stand. It's very pure and sweet, which I can't stand. It's a modern-setting c-drama which I can't stand. And yet this was so excellent and I couldn't tear myself away. By the time it was done, I wished there'd been more episodes, I never wanted it to end.
The acting. WAS AWESOME. Every actor played their part so perfectly, with consideration, humor, and depth. IMO, this was one of Rosy's best performances. Sometimes I don't like her acting, but she played this role so well there are no words for it, I was blown away. Victor Ma was so excellent, perfectly cast. Zhe Yuan was sensitive, intense, and charismatic and gave his all to his performance. All the supporting roles were so well played, too. <3
Direction and writing were awesome. No distracting shots or scenes. The whole drama has a current of lowkey quiet humor that's actually funny. The poignant parts were sensitive and simple. This show has an incredible flow that was unhurried and natural without being draggy. There are a few rare scenes that have an element of actual spice to them, without knocking the show off it's axis. And there is kilig!!!! Plenty of it!!!
I am an enormous fan of good kilig, and it's not easy to come by, ESPECIALLY in c-dramas, but this drama stands apart from other c-dramas because it displays a MASTERFUL grasp of kilig, and what creates kilig moments. Any show can have a scene where say for instance, the ML touches the FL's hand lightly. But it takes skills to make that moment give the viewer butterflies, so that a mundane act is elevated into something scorching and sexy.
If you want the full effect of this show, you must be PATIENT. Settle in for the long haul, and let the story start to just flow over you. Every episode the tension is ratcheted up a little more.... and a little more... and by about the halfway mark, you start to really feel the chemistry go into overdrive. It is SO DIFFICULT to find a show that can create and maintain a balance between purity and attraction, and this drama has done it where most dramas completely fail.
God, this show was good. It was a simple plot, a classic story... but masterfully executed. I am a very hard grader, I give it a 9.
Really wanted to enjoy this drama but the video game part is not from my liking.... This drama is on hold for…
Same here. With the gaming plots like this one and love O2O, I just can't eve
Also when people mention Dilraba and "chemistry" in the same sentence, I become extremely suspicious. The only thing I ever saw her in where I perceived any real chemistry was Eternal Love of Dream. Sometimes it seems to me like she thinks she's pretty enough that that excuses her from having to act attracted to any of her ML's.
