If you're an actress who has a problem with kiss scenes, then don't sign up to to a romance drama with JKY, it seems fairly simple to me. Plenty of other actresses have nailed their kiss scenes in romantic dramas. She's barely one step up from deer-in-headlights kissing. She just sits there with her eyes and her mouth closed and doesn't move. How is that acting? And the mismatch is so noticeable because JKY is a fantastic onscreen kisser, better than average. This was a terrible ML/FL pairing. The 2FL should have been the FL, and the FL should have been the 2FL.
Does having this opinion mean there's something wrong with me? No. In Her Private Life, both the leads went into that drama like "okay we are gonna NAIL those kiss scenes" and they did. Is there something wrong with actually wanting your kiss scenes to turn out looking amazing and conveying passion?
I will forever remember her as the FL who refused to kiss JKY in what would have been one of the best kiss scenes in all of k-drama if it wasn't completely ruined by SOMEone's inhibitions. JKY is the perfect onscreen kisser - he can make it look good AND get it past the censors. All she had to do was follow his lead.
What's really making me mad about this drama is that Im Soo Jung refuses to kiss properly in her kiss scenes. B*tch!!! Do you have any idea how hard JKY and the producers and writers and directors worked to give you the PERFECT kiss scene setups, and you are RUINING everything. He's one of the hottest men on the planet, just kiss him ffs! omg...
Never watching another drama with Im Soo Jung again.
This drama was trying to be all female empowered edgy modern romance but it just sucked. Several key characters are imo unlikeable and their motivations are impossible for me to get behind, making choices i'd never make. Much of the dialogue was uninspired and flat. One of those dramas that by the time it's 2/3rds of the way though, I don't even want to wach dramas anymore, I'd rather bake cookies and do my laundry, and when it's over all you feel is just relief that it's finally over and you can start a new drama. Ugh. I gave it a 6 for JKY and Lee Da Hee (the 2FL) who gave excellent performances, if it wasn't for that i'd give it like a 3.
I really really loved this show, but I absolutely HATE open/vague endings. I get that they want to give you the…
I went and looked it up at some point in the drama, and her kind of leukemia has about a 70% survival rate. That's not as bad of odds as the drama seems to suggest. But I use that fact to interpret the open ending as a good one.
I think the positive reviews raised my expectations too much. Where is the chemistry? Smouldering looks and coquettish…
The ending episode has maybe ten minutes of an absolutely gorgeous Han wedding that I think it worth watching, and then they have a scene where the ML and FL are lying in the snow, that's another 5 or 10 minutes worth the watch just to wrap up all that time you invested, if you wanted to. Most of the other stuff is pretty skippable, but those scenes are really nice i thought.
Hmmm this is a tough one to rate. It has spice, hotness, romance, angst, a little bit of kilig, beautiful aesthetics and style that feels distinctly more Taiwanese than chinese. The acting is subtle, free and natural, which also struck me as more Taiwanese-feeling than chinese. It has a compelling story, albeit a VERY simple one. The OST was sooo amazing, it added to the drama, and was never intrusive or mismatched to the mood of the actors.
However despite all that, I felt it didn't have enough skinship or fire, and that was due to two factors. One, the FL is an absolutely awesome and believable actress, but she refused to kiss with any real passion int he kiss scenes. Two, the directors/producers cut their hottest scenes too short and really played it safe when it came to setting the spice-levels of this drama. With a title like "Forbidden Flower" and two really hot leads, and a promotional picture like that, you'd think they wouldn't feel the need to keep it quite so safe and sanitized. It' still packs some spice don't get me wrong. But it left me dissatisfied a little bit.
It gets draggy in the middle. The side-stories dont have a lot of oomph to hold your attention, so theres a fair bit of skippable content.
One of the biggest issues I had was with the fact that there's this song that gets replayed a lot throughout the drama and the lyrics are: "I can heal you just with the brush of a hand, you feel it too, raging like waves on a sand, turning black, turning blue, do you understand" And maybe it's cultural or something, but to me those lyrics sound creepy af and come off as jarring and incongruous to the story., like a domestic abuse ballad or something.
IT'S DIFFICULT TO READ MANY SUBTITLES BECAUSE THEY ARE TRANSLATING THE SONGS AT THE SAME TIME. THE LINES KEEP…
Welcome to the world of modern c-drama. It's always like this, with just a few rare exceptions. One of the things I cannot understand when it comes to modern chinese fashion, is : What's with the guys wearing mom-jeans? Ughhhh.
The kid is cute, the ML and FL are great, and they have chemistry. Keeping in mind this is a short-length, the plot and storyline fit nicely as far as pacing, albeit overly simplistic and predictable. There's a distinct lack of artistic vision as far as the direction goes, and the slightly flat dialogie (but it's not too bad). There is a glaring fault to this drama, which is that they sanitize the kiss scenes, and do what they can to sanitize the romantic elements of the show. For this reason, I gave it a low score, because that's a pretty damn big fault for a ROMANCE to have.
This show was soooo stupid. ML is really weird lookin. He's somewhat handsome, but also really weird lookin. FL is cute and beautiful. Their onsscreen kisses were really fiery, but there's only a few and they're at the beginning of the drama. By at least the halfway point, you can kiss any chemistry or fire or spice goodbye, there's NONE left. Even the last episode doesn't even have a kiss scene. What were they thinking. I'm so glad I'm done watching this boring draggy show and can move on to something else. There were a few really really funny scenes in here, but they were all that chinese brand of "accidentally funny" where they weren't intending it to be that funny, but to a westerner it's hilariously awful.
That's called dramasplaining, and it's not kew. That's like saying a person likes vanilla ice cream more than…
> you: "The problem lies with the voter's lack of understanding of why others found it so enjoyable."
The title of the vote list is literally "I don't understand the hype". What problem. There is no problem. It's just a voting list. Why does there have to be a problem.
You're looking down on people for no reason.
Again, the chocolate and vanilla example works here. Someone says "I don't understand all the hype about chocolate" and you say "Well the problem is with you, not with chocolate ice cream". Do you see how you even sound?
I agree so much with this list!Especially the top 11 😂 They are indeed trash. (Except Crash Landing On You,…
I love how Secret Garden is so widely watched and such a classic that they make the blue sequin jacket reference in other dramas and everybody gets the joke.
'Moon lovers' and its not even close. bad acting on top of dreadful pacing...🥱
I hated it because they put the FL through so much trauma that she totally loses what makes her attractive... her optimism and joy. And by the end she's just a mess with a huge load of baggage and ptsd. I'm not interested in watching a sweet girl get tortured.
Well, I've watched ten of the dramas listed here (with several more on my 'One Day' list). I can only say to those…
That's called dramasplaining, and it's not kew. That's like saying a person likes vanilla ice cream more than chocolate ice cream, because they just have a lack of understanding of chocolate. Different people have different tastes, that doesnt make one person somehow better or more right than the other.

I give it a 7. Not bad. Not superb.
