I almost feel like if they'd done it right, the kid actor could have handled both roles by himself, he is phenomenal at acting at such a young age, with the right makeup and cosutme effects, and if they scheduled his kid scenes at the beginning of production and done his older version scenes as the last ones to be shot on set, maybe put hidden lifts in his shoes.... but i bet if you asked that kid to "act like you're 20", he could have done it.

That kid is an incredible actor, let him cook. He will win you over at some point.

If you're playin politics with the big bois, one wrong move can have you in such sh*t that your entire family gets executed. Them not being married is a HUGE way for him to hedge his bets and keep her safe so that he feels free to take on more risk.

tysm! it still has a lil ways to go, but if it keeps up like this, i would totally concur. Several dramas have talked a big game and then failed to deliver. This one kind of came out of nowhere, but it's SATISFYING, it's so addictive and so pretty. And that kid A Sen actor!!! Whoa can that kid act, holy moly.

better, honestly. more tightly put together, better balance of like action to romance to politics etc. less eye ML eye candy, better scriptwriting.

i started this a few days ago, not really expecting much from it and took a few eps to get into it but BY GOD this is crack. Binged the sh*t out of it! All caught up now and devastated I started this too early to do a full binge. The WRITING! The FL!! BEST cinematography vs budget constraints balance i've seen in a long time. Well balanced elements, nothing taking you out of immersion, no cringe, no f*ck ups, almost no drag, timeskip handled perfectly....

SHOCKED this is so freaking GOOD.

A) watching actors' careers develop over time B) watching a producer/director/writer's career develop C) Staying relevant in conversations with people about dramas D) So you can give a full critique of a drama without people saying "how would you know if it sucks or not if you dropped it" E) for the lulz....... because sometimes there's treasure mixed in with the junk.

The only thing that's absurd is you thinking it's okay to call someone absurd just because they disagree with you over a drama.

i appreciate praise and critique both, just why the bickering. I watch stuff I don't like all the time for various reasons, and then i need a place to vent, which is here. Nothing wrong with that.

So far this seems like WJY's best role to date. It's Yanxi Palace all over again, but this time with more maturity and all the kinks worked out of her character til she's just ADORABLE.

CZY got that riz. They dressed him well. His makeup and hair arent' effed up.

Setting is immersive colorful very decent production.

Yall are way farther along than I am. I'll probably finish this? But like... what goes wrong with all this awesomeness? Even if this was spiceless like Blossom, its cute af so far.

When/how does it lose it's sparkle and why? Because this is such a good start I'm mystefied. Do yall think it will pull through in the end or no?

MANY feature length dramas have a spice quotient. My Fated Boy, Falling Into Your Smile, SOKP, When destiny brings the demon, Life Is Sweet, Deng Kai and Snow Kong in POJ... etc....

I don't need my romance to have a shitton of spice, but i DO need to know what kind of romance i'm getting into BEFORE i start a drama.

But thanks for answering ONE of my questions, "what is the spice level on this"... because apparently the answer is "Zero" or else you wouldn't have defensively snarked out at me for no reason.

you say he can't openly show it, then how is there spice? i need to know if the kiss scenes and the spicy scenes deliver or if this is more in the lane of like Blossom, kinda PG.

C) What kind of ML are we talking abt here?
D) Is the plot gripping and bingey, or is it one where you have to put in some effort?
