We'll probably only get the modern setting in the final episode, like some usual epilogue that will only last…
No modern day if it follows novel.

Since the female lead is from another world, I can't help but to think she'd wake up and then see the male lead…
if it follows the book, then this will not happen.

Well.Sadly this show is too good.Should have been smart and waited for all the episodes to be released on Viki,…
Yep, I fully ruined this first-time watch for myself. I can't believe how addictive this is.

Could anyone tell me if the events of the drama from episode 19 onwards, when TiaoYan loses her memory, are already…
Think of the 3 arcs in terms of where they're set. 1 = celestial realm 2 = demon realm 3 = human realm.

Have you watched lighter & princess? you'll get crush on him,, so handsome 🫶
I was not a fan of that show. But that was not Arthur Chen's fault. I also did not like how in L&P they give you like the first 1-3 episodes with the hot peroxide blond hair, and then they take it away from you for the whole rest of the drama. wtf.

idk I thought it was sort of a snoozer plotwise, and the FL struck me the whole time as really self-righteous and kind of a pain in the ass. I didn't sense any spicy chemistry between him and the FL in L&P.

I think this is the best thing he's ever been in, doing his best acting, with the most chemistry I've ever seen him have with an FL costar. I don't think his previous stuff rises above "pretty good". But he is so SO well suited to this role, I'm super impressed.

does the FL gain her memories in the novel after a long while or will this resolve soon? I hope ruling isn't forgiven…
If it follows the novel, she is still on the road to fully recovering her memories at the end, it's not something she ever fully regains at some point, it's a gradual process.

The snake is written in the novel as a really simple-minded creature, I don't think he's ever going to have anything to add except comic relief. But in the novel there was no RuLing side-plot love interest at all. So maybe they will write the snake a little differently than the novel idk.

I did not decide to wait, and I ragret.
I NEVAHHH start a drama before it's completely finished, and I saw the thumbnail for this on kisskh while I was cruising for something new to watch, and I was ONLY GONNA WATCH 5 MINS OF IT just to preview it and see if I'd be interested later.

And here I am. This show is crack.

If it's anything like the novel, it's gonna be cool.

Guys, the production quality of this drama is so poor and sh**ty it's bringing me right back to my nostalgic 2018…
I like that it's pared down, because Legend of Shen Li was hi-budget but had the classic wuxia cheese-feel to it, but I thought the cheese was done better here... Shen Li was kind of over-the-top. I love the power-rangers flying in formation thing the bad guys do when they're chasing after SJ, that was awesome.

I felt like the tone of the novel was sort of like howl's moving castle meets Twilight. It doesn't take itself…
right, they got like kind of a semi- bonnie and clyde dynamic goin on in the novel.

I was watching the show like "IS HE GONNA REALLY LICK HER FACE" and
sure enough he did.... or like when he smears his blood on her and laughs... in the novel you can take it however you want, but it seems a little dark. And in the drama they really glossed that aspect of his character over a little bit. Or like the "I ate your egg" that in the drama turned into some cheezy-puff and I'm like "noooo no no no. that's not how that went down at ALL" lol....

They skipped the kinky incest dynamic in that part of the drama, I'm sure to keep the whole thing from getting a bunch of unwanted negative attention on the drama itself, and I wonder if they're gonna also skip the part about him being 16 when they meet in the 3rd arc, they'll change it to 18 or something.

There will be a human realm arc, but not the way youre probably thinking... it will be really cool, you'll like it. Its not like she drags him back to her apartment and gets him a job in a cubicle or something.

If they go down that route, wouldn’t that mean SMJ wouldn’t lose his memory in the third arc? Bc he said through…
So in 3rd arc, he starts off with his memory messed up and basically gone, but he does have persistent dreams about FL and doesn't know why. By the end of the 3rd arc, he has his memories all back, but that reveal is sort of enigmatic.... they explain in the novel that he's like something something special spirit fire idk and so he didn't take his memories with him at FIRST. But that it's natural for him to slowly regain them as time goes on. In the novel, SJ at the beginning of the 3rd arc is 16yo, and so for him not to have all his memories back at that point is 'normal' or whatever.

So. As the arc progresses, you see signs that he's remembering things here or there. And the novel keeps you guessing for a while about how much he knows and when. And all you know is there is a moment when he basically betrays that yea, he remembers everything, and keeps it all non-specific about how/when he remembers.

But by the end of the story, FL is the one who has not totally recovered her memories. She remembers things about Arc 1, but never has a moment where in some blinding flash she regains all her memory.

Question to novel readers, so, the Demon lord is the main villain of this plot?
No the main villain in the story is the wheelchair dude who abducted FL and gave her amnesia. After he's dealt with, I think there's a few other things that come up, but the story leaned less toward epic-saga and more toward like 'wuxia slice of life', if there is such a thing.

Woah I held up watching but only 3 episodes were addedHate 1 ep per day my subscriptions uselessCelestial Palace…
I felt like the tone of the novel was sort of like howl's moving castle meets Twilight. It doesn't take itself seriously. But at the same time, the ML is dark and there are elements of seriousness, madness, violence, and obsession in the tone. So it's this weird mix of sweet and sinister.

So far the things I think are out of place personally are 1) The scenes showing the cruelty of the baby eaters and how they keep people as slaves n stuff, that went too dark imo... 2) The OST/BGM sometimes is good, and sometimes is phoned in and low effort, like the opening song sounds a LOT like the opening song for Story of Kunning Palace, and a lot of the "original" soundtrack songs to me don't sound that original.

I just really love that they turned a story like this into a full-on big deal, because it's so sweet and sexy and interesting without being overdone on a bunch of angsty crap... and in the story the way the 1st 2nd and 3rd arc are laid out is so cool not a lot of c-dramas out there like this, it's so unique.
