just look at this drama and the kind of intimacy is there between FL and her bestie.

There is not a single Cdrama or even kdrama where the ML is shown having 1% intimacy with other woman as this current drama FL and 2ML.

THAT is by design from writers and that is every drama.

It's as if there writers are somewhat damaged by men around them and then project that into their dramas - where the men are shown utterly dedicated and have zero women around them to the point where it drama starts stinking.

the reason why I speak so vehemently against these tropes is due to ZERO reality. I am not talking 1% possibility or even 0.01%.
The kind of ML's written in Cdramas never existed in history of humanity. It is that kind of fakeness.

regarding ten miles, the drama did not need romance. The ML was barely there in the drama anyway. In many episodes he does not even make a presence.
The romance screwed what would have been a great fantasy Female lead drama. They could have given multiple BF's and lovers....that suited her care free ways much more.

Unless we watched a different drama, here is how the story goes

It was FL trial, a right of passage, where she was destined to suffer. This suffering was hers so that she can ascend and gain immense power.
The ML got dragged into her own shit and suffered immensely because of her trial.

The FL trial ends when she kills her self, she gains immense power because of her trial, dumps ML and their child.

Now tell me who got dragged into whose shit?

It was always the ML who got dragged into FL trial and suffered immensely because of her, because of her trial.

What did FL get due to that suffering? lot of power, Ascended and became powerful god

What did ML get after FL pulled him into her own suffering? More suffering, being dumped and single father hood.

FL should have crawled on her ass and begged the ML for the shit she put Ml through to become powerful.

Let us assume it was a broken mind and she had to do it, then by the end it should have been the FL on her knees begging the ML for forgiveness, not the other way around.

Sorry but I will never have sympathy for anyone that abandons their spouse and child to go and look after some other person.
There is no justification or basis.

Worst is the spouse who took care of the child on his knees begging for forgiveness.
Only a sick and perverted writer can write that and justify it.

It was illogical and the only reason to show it to show how pathetic, simpy and doormat the ML is.
if the FL demanded he eat crap, pretty sure the ML would have done so with a smile on his face - at least that's how the writing came across at that point.


ML's being fake in Cdramas and many Kdramas is an issue, and very very big one.

Take this drama as example. Just look at the kind of intimate interactions FL has with her male friend, even at the end of the drama.

Now here is the challenge, name one drama in the last few years where the ML has such kind of intimate, touchy, face in face, arms around with another woman other then FL.

THAT is what I am pointing at when I say the writers have zero idea about men and they should do something else other than writing these crappy and fake ML's in each and every Cdrama and kdrama.

hmm..ok, that was sexual assault.

Is this drama making a case for women not to out to meet men who they are not close to?
It seems that way...basically telling women that you have a brain, use it and don't go out to meet men, especially at night and especially in places that are not safe.

If that's what the writer was trying to convey, then, it was fine

but the casual way the assault was brushed off is absolutely insane.
It was not ok a thousand years back, it is not ok now.

At least the writer should have made FL kick the guy in the nuts...

FIYS would have a very good drama if it had no romance.

The romance killed it for me. And it was how the ML was portrayed. A typical cdrama ML.

In that the ML is in late 20's, very rich, very successful, very handsome, women fawn over him but he never dated, never liked any girl and never even looked at any girl. That part of ML was so fake, the whole romance came off as fake.

Lost in Kunlun mountain, I could not even finish. It became such a drag.

Falling into your smile was ok. It depends on ones taste I guess. It was just another same same Cdrama romance. Liked the gaming, team dynamic more than the romance in that one.

Snow Eagle Lord was a disjointed show. better than Kunlun but it did not hold my interest.

This one had good start, weak middle and strong finish.

problem with this drama is that the ML and FL are exactly like the hundred other cdrama ML & FL we have seen in last few years

FL - 'She has always been able to separate her affections for him from her goals and ambitions, and stand her ground for what she believes in'

ML - 'passionate guy and won't give up on love'

That's pretty much every ML and FL in every romance Cdrama.

it's not a case of something wrong with this ML and FL.
After all it's a drama and the dynamic is love is never equal. Some one always the upper hand. There is no equality in love. There is one receiving more than giving.

Problem with the drama however is that it has once again repeated the same tropes and leads that we have seen in every other Cdrama.

The writers need to mix and match their dynamics, characters and characteristics.
This one, the love dynamic became predictable in episode 1 when we saw the FL having a male bestie.
anyone who has watched any Cdrama would have told you after watching episode 1, what's coming in later episodes, the tropes, the storylines etc etc.
Same characters, predictability etc is the issue.

As an example, instead of FL having a male bestie, think how the story would have been if the ML had a female bestie?

Easily Xu Kai best drama after ALP.

As the drama went on, the ML kept shining. His story ark was more fulfilling, emotional and has good progress.
FL had very good first half but second half, her presence was not felt that much. In some episodes she was not even missed.

The love dynamic between ML and FL is typical Cdrama dynamic, with ML coming across as a fool in love and FL taking advantage of that said love. Some may like that kind of dynamic and some won't.

FL's liver is a medical miracle.

that the liver is functional even after that kind of alcohol abuse is enough to give it sainthood

thank god some one else gets it.

loving someone is not catering to everything they do, It's not a parent-child dynamic to be so.

This is a relationship that needs to sustain for decades & if one person keeps giving in and letting the other have their way, it's not healthy and won't survive. And it's not right either.

Ep 30 and 31 are the best episodes by far.

to future Cdrama writers - When you run out ways to solve a major issue,
get the FL drunk and the booze will kill all brain cells that caused the issue - if you can't recall the issue, it never happened.

Perfect ML?
Why would the ML be imperfect if had close female friends? Name one drama where a cdrama or kdrama ML had a female friend very similar to the male friend, the FL has in this drama.
In reverse, I can name a dozen dramas this year where FL has close male friend.
Let's be honest.
the only reason these fake ML exist because the writers want the ML to have bare minimum interactions with women other than FL.
These ML's are NOT perfect.
They are fake.
Anyone who has ever interacted with any man in their life would tell watching 5 mins of these ML's that they are complete fake.
And having these fake men as ML's in each and every drama without an iota of deviation in their characteristics is the issue.

Regarding Ten Miles, the FL is free to do anything she wants.
Point was about how much of disgusting simp ML was.
After getting dumped, taking care of their kid, doing all sorts of things for her, he had to beg like an idiot in front of a person who did not give shit about him.
The idea that she should not blamed for dumping her husband and kid and going on about her life is beyond pale.
If a man did that, no one on this earth would be that accomidative or understanding.
if in chinese culture master deserves love and respect, Wonder what husband and child deserves?
When one starts making excuses for abandoning a child and justify it, then it's reflection on how wrong the argument is.

It's the same in every Cdrama. The ML's after falling for Fl, lose every ounce their dignity and themselves.

How does one reach that conclusion.

ML simping is the problem. because the FL's are remotely not dedicated to the ML's. I just showed how FL did nothing when her dad got the ML thrashed.
ML's, when they fall in love, they become someone else. someone pathetic and worse.
the FL stay the same. You will never see them compromise on their dignity for the ML. Never

ML being dedicated in love is never the issue.
FL barely showing similar dedication is teh issue. For FL, their goals, friends and family are always more important than ML.
Even in this drama, what exactly does the FL do for the ML? What is she going through for ML? The most emotion she ever showed in the drama was the other guy, not the ML.

The tropes you say are common and accepted by audience are the problem for me.
Instead of asking me to stop watching, why not join me and complain? These are incredibly shitty and fake tropes.

ML always & every time did right by FL.
It was the FL who dumped him and their child.
Imagine if a man dumped his wife and new born and ran away to help some other woman.
This is incredible really. That woman dumped her new born and husband and waltzing around the world for anotehr man....but it was the husband who was taking care of their baby. who crawled for forgiveness. It really boggles ones mind even justifying the shit writers came up with in that drama!

Like I said, ML's in Cdramas are simps with not an iota of dignity or self-respect.
They get abused by FL, her male friends, her ex's, her family, her colleagues, her suitors and he will take it like a wimp and then for strange reason beg FL for forgiveness.

Whether most watchers are women or men or some other gender is moot.
The points I raised...
1. same ML, FL and 2ML in each and every drama
2. Same tropes in each and every drama
3. fake ML who does not resemble any man ever born on this planet
are spot on and pertinent.

These dramas are becoming more and more like a kind of porn, written by writers with serious psychological issues.

Let's compare Xu kai's dramas, This one and 'She and her perfect husband'.

The FL has multiple men through out both the dramas surrounding them.
The other man in FL life will be closely involved with her, many a time the ML will have front row seat to their history, closeness and even interactions.
The 2ML has a large screen time and intense interactions with FL.

Let's go back a year or so. 'falling into your smile'. The FL has an ex, few other suitors. We see FL and her ex interacting, we also see Fl and her ex doing things in front of ML to make him jealous.
Xi Kai character in that drama is a hot male, rich, son of industrialist, running a company himself, very successful in his field, well educated, late 20's, never had a gf, never even looked at a girl until the FL came into his life.

Xu Kai as ML in all these dramas has disappointing relations with females other than FL.

If the same actor is portraying the same ML across multiple dramas, there is something really wrong with the industry.

The only angry ones are the ones trying to dissuade me from posting.

Having said that, you point about SML being her family/friend is the worst and most used trope in Cdramas.
You could see in Ep 1 that 2ML will turn out this way.
That he would be used to give FL attention of multiple males, make ML jealous etc etc, the usual shitty tropes.

Coming to acting out by FL. You get most hurt by betrayal of ones closest to you. That's human nature. If she was acting out on what ML did, which was not even a betrayal, she should have done 100000 worse when her family betrayed her in a spectacular fashion.
but because writers want FL's to lie down and offer their bums to 2ML, this drama also went with that trope. Gone was the strong FL with loud voice. In came whimpering.

ML is shown to be even more cucked since ep 20. He keeps taking more and more punishment for the FL just to show viewers how much FL means to him.
Again, another Cdrama trope. the ML will show utter devotion and unflinching loyalty to FL. The reciprocation does not happen. As example, the so called strong willed FL does not even say a word to her dad after ML was thrashed with a whip.
LOL...so much for her love towards the ML.
Imagine the reverse, if the ML father got FL thrashed with a whip...do you think the drama would still go with passive ML who would say nothing?
Does anyone remember in 'Eternal Love' how the ML would take the worst punishment FL gets, the lightning whips & still grovels to the FL in the end?

Cdramas are a mess because you know exactly what the journey of ML and FL is, how these 2 characters behave.

It's not the tropes that are the problem.
It's the use of exact same tropes in every freaking drama. The characters are copies from the last 100 cdramas.

Instead of saying don't watch, why not show me how the ML and FL are different from the other Cdramas we have seen in last few years?

The most absurd trope is the ML and complete lack of females in his life.
The same writers that give FL multiple men in her life with some men who are extremely close, give exactly zero women in ML's life.

I thought western male authors had difficulty in writing female characters, while the female western authors could write great men characters.
With regret I must say the Cdrama and kdrama writers, especially the female writers write shit for male characters.

Right until the moment 2ML betrayal becomes clear, FL was affectionate to him, not romantic one but you can see the same affection in her eyes that she had for him since episode 1.

Even after the betrayal becomes clear, she does not go after him verbally like she did with ML.
even in ep 23, with him trying to kill her father, the FL does not go after his verbally.
That the person who she cried for, abused ML for, betrays her & there is really no visible impact on her emotionally.

Besides that,
what's absolutely disappointing is the ML, FL, 2ML trope being played that we have seen in every Cdrama romance.

When was the last time a cdrama romance did not have a 2ML who is very near and dear to the FL?
And on flip side does anyone recall a Cdrama where the ML had a female near him, with similar interactions as the FL has with the 2ML?

Point being, these are predictable characters with predictable tropes.
THAT is what is disappointing.

The main characters in this drama are exact copies of hundreds of Cdrams in this genre. Not even an iota of change in their characteristics and relations.

When the characters becomes predictable in Episode 1, it's basically shit story telling.

I mean, please raise your hands if you did not know 2ML would go this route in episode 1?
