After 8 episodes I'm still in love with this drama. The Princess is a handful and luckily has found just the right guy to hold onto. Love her stories and naughty illustrations. The story of the Crown Prince is heart wrenching. Surely he deserves some lovin'. I can't believe that the Crown Prince's concubine can just take it upon herself to get a divorce. Love the way the drama is shot with all those intimate moments being tightly framed and illuminated. The subtitles could use a little more accuracy.
This is a delight. I'm blown away by the acknowledgement that these characters have a right to their sexuality and are enjoying it in art and actuality. Where it will lead aftr the six episodes I've watched who knows? I'm hooked, keep it coming (pun intended).
Happy Ending? I guess. Ping'an is back to where she started. Shao Cheng got power to free his people. The Empress keeps doing a good job. The bad guys self-destructed. Mr. Nice Guy, AnKang, hung up his uniform and then what? For me, he was the most tragic figure.
No spoilers please. Four episodes to go and Shoa Cheng has just disappointed me by saying 'get it done even if your horse collapses from exhaustion'. Sorry, but this is not the way a heroic male lead acts.
Another burn victim comes out of the woodwork. Ping'an is back on the sauce and ghostly visions beckon. Physician heal thyself and get 'scarface' to fess up. Shoa Cheng is making overtures but won't wedding bells ring for him soon? NiChang sings her own tune and encourages Ping'an with sisterly support. There's a wrinkle in the past case that needs straightening out. An Kang is on the hunt again. Just how does he fit in all of this?
Mr. Xu and Ms Fang keep having these tet-a-tet's in this mysterious location. Chen Shuo is driving everyone up the wall. Ying Zi is sensing something is off with Mr Xu while Xia Shu is making a pretend play for him. This is all very exciting but I want some lovey-dovey vibes between CS and YZ.
Hei YiPing keeps pleading he's only a little bit corrupted. I'm surprised in this drama they are not using torture to get the truth out of the accused. He is trying to convince Shao Cheng if you give poor people some power they will quickly become as corrupt as nobles. Maybe, but shouldn't everyone have a chance at the 'golden ring'? Nothing wrong with Shawn Dou's interpretation of his character. Zheng Ye Cheng's role is just a little bit more pleasant so he is more pleasing to the eye.
First off, I find this drama quite delightul and am really enjoying the characters enjoying their sexuality. As far as the FL is concerned I much prefer her relationship with Choi Hwan to what the eyelocking moment with Jang Won portents. He's a bit of a stick so she should just let her friend have him.
Done and dusted. Had some good moments but on the whole I found the mother's character to be too overbearing most of the time. Most of the marriage match-ups work out pretty good. The youngest daughter was too much to bear. Leshan's endless torture of her hubby was nauseating.
Almost halfway through and there's a lot to like about this drama. The clever group of women working together to bring down evildoers. A hero who fight to elevate a people denigrated. Various upwight supporting characters. As is often the case, salt is the commodity that instills greed. Violence against women provokes lust. Plotters and killers lurk in the shadows. The little annoyances can be excused - instant state of hypnosis at the drop of a jingling bell, psychiatrict treatment at the drop of a hat, Banquet group entertainment that tends to leave you bored stiff. More to come, will keep watching.
This is certainly a little more lascivious than most historical Kdramas. That's enjoyable. Other than that there are the ususal royal rivalries. It's obvious the couples that take advantage of some foreplay are having much more fun. Why such a low rating?
Finished ep 8 and it's pretty Hot stuff. Tortured searing flesh, ghostly apparitions and can even make the Queen's guard poop their pants, fire (for which there are never enough buckets of water) at the accounting office to destroy evidence, a bunny lantern for courtship purposes and brutal fights to amuse the ruling classes. All this, and potential romance what's not to like.
womance?? how??And we don't know how long she's got him by her side. Betrays may occur as they have different…
I looked up what the opposite of bromance is and that's the word that came up. The two female leads have been sleeping together and are very friendly and obviously have some history (or should I say herstory) as we can see from the flash-backs.
Ep. 4 Is this 'womance' for real? Or is there some underlying history still to be revealed? She's got ShaoCheng in her corner, but for how long? and isn't he too much of a bad guy?
Just getting started on this and already irritated by all the face smoothing. The female lead recognizes PTSD and uses hypnosis to get to underlying trauma. I like this actress. Shawn Du on the other hand has always been a bit of a dramatic feather-weight for me, but it looks like in this drama he is playing hardball.
This drama is so weird. Why are these three wives spending all their time at their mother's house and they never seem to get to have any real marital relationships? At first the daughters seem to have real spunk and talents and now they are just focused on making their men miserable. Wang Xing Yue is really wasted in this scenario.
