Let me be clear: I LOVE this show and think it is one of the best JBLs I have seen --- yes, it is full of clichés and many of us know this. BUT it is also unique.
First: I can even understand what you mean, because I feel the same way about many other shows I don't like: Why does it have such a high rating? But then I know that everyone simply has different views and feelings towards a show. And I accept that. Simple as it is.
What I truly find unique about "School Trip" is the slow pace of relationship. And while most of other series have the same concept of rivalries, this show doesn't have it and concentrates on development of feelings. This truly makes it unique. Another unique point: Hioki is not a shy boy (unlike in other dramas) has interestingly more friends than the so-called prince Watarai. I also adore the frienship without envy in this show. This show is WHOLESOME and that is what other shows don't have. If people need more friction surface, this show isn'it. If people need faster pace, this isn't it.
I accept people saying I don't like this show, this isn't for me, but to put a rating into question is wrong because taste differs and the rating simply says: People love it.
For me, this is a 10/10.
