That's one thing I enjoy about watching dramas on my computer. I can easily skip recaps and such. We have several services that allow streaming on the television, though, and it's just too much of a pain in the butt to bother. At those times, I just go get snacks. XD

I know right? It's such an incredible experience When I was younger, it was actually my dream to win the EGOT. XD But the awards were well distributed this year. So many of those films were incredible.

Oh! That reminds me somewhat of The Crucible. Fine story, disturbing content. What you mention makes me wonder how much content is allowed to be performed by minors in Korea; hopefully it's not much. I couldn't imagine the effect it might have otherwise.

Thanks for the recommendation! I've really got to start getting my Korean directors down. Lately I've been working through Japanese films, if I can help it, though mostly classics and Kore-eda.

Apparently, Hollywood agrees. Let It Go won an Oscar for best original song last night, haha. The composers also had this super nice speech that included some sweet notes about their own daughters; it was so touching~

Something about Coyle just screams rebel. At least he doesn't have to worry about cotton lung as a peasant...the depictions of that in North and South were really scary >.<

Yeah! Am I crazy though? It seems as though the episodes are even shorter; 39, for instance, was seriously only 38 minutes long. :o

Wow, so many! I've only been able to see a few, but those I did see (such as My Way and The Punisher) were quite good. Unfortunately, I'm still rather new to Kim Ki Duk, but many of his films are described to me in glowing terms...especially 3-Iron. Perhaps I ought to have a movie weekend after finishing a few more dramas. I'm actually curious as to just how disturbing Moebius was though; surely not as bad as a Miike film? o_o Those are pretty hardcore.

Same! He has such a versatile talent. Though, I'm sorry to hear about your slump. Seems those are going around a lot lately. :( Hopefully it ends soon and you can watch peacefully again; I don't doubt that you'll enjoy Brain whenever you get around to it. Which films have you enjoyed recently? :o

Same! I've only recently started using the feeds (somehow I never noticed they existed), but have become somewhat addicted to them in the mean time. Let's definitely keep in touch~

Also, I noticed you'll be watching Cafe Noir soon; it'll be exciting to hear your take on it. Shin Ha Kyun is a marvelous actor.

"Let It Go" just popped back into my head. Curse you! XD Wasn't Frozen great though? All of the recent Disney animations have been quality.

Ah, you started it then! Larkrise is so unique, being a long period drama. It's much more complete too, since it has all that time to tell the story~ I'm glad you enjoyed the first episode. But somehow I never linked Brendan Coyle between the two stories! That's where I recognized him, haha~

It can be nerve-wracking to post reviews on here sometimes; there are some silly people who'll just vote it down without reading, based on the numbers. But then many people also truly value well-expressed opinions, so it's definitely worth the time. :)

See, that would make it much easier on the unregistered person. Apparently they were calling for changes to it, something similar to the process you described, but I haven't found information on whether that'll actually be taking place.

There are many archaic laws in Japan though, or others that don't make sense in the modern day. For instance, the film Confessions integrates a particular one which basically lets murderers under a certain age walk free (even if it's clear they *meant* to do it or understand the consequences).

No problem! Thanks so much for accepting. I've seen you around rather frequently because of friends, but for some reason thought we were already acquainted. Apparently someone else has a similar username to yours, haha. Anyway, I'm glad to meet you; we seem to have somewhat similar taste. :)

I can just imagine it. A small circle of people at laptops, grinding their teeth as they wait for the current scene to end. There would need to be a hefty dental budget, of course. XD

Ah! I actually downloaded Love Will Tear Us Apart via torrent. I can help you with a link if you like, via pm. :) It's a great movie, a little odd, but very entertaining.

I should really pick both of those shows up soon. It seems like I'm so far behind on the classic j-dramas somehow. Everyone recommends Orange Days so much, so it feels like a crime, haha. Which did you like more?

They were great right! I just love costume dramas, haha. So much good acting to be discovered, and well. The costumes are incredible. As to the films you asked about, they kind of were similar. I personally preferred My Way, but primarily because it had a unique approach.

I might have to try Shinya Shokudo. Food dramas are always fun, and Japanese dramas are incredible with vignettes.

You should write reviews, though. I think that you express yourself very clearly; after all, you seem to have a motivating effect on me whenever we talk about certain shows. :) I personally try to be as objective as I can, though my taste is just all over the place. Half the time I end up liking things nobody else would dream of, or hating the "it" drama. XD

I'm not sure about the registry system either. Actually, many Asian countries seem to have this exact system. Even Korea, until recent years. It might be something that works easily for a small nation, though I wonder if it has to do with the way things worked in the feudal system. Back in those days, one even had to register as a particular citizen; peasants couldn't move from place to place without permission. o:

Perhaps we should create a Non-Speed-Watchers group. XD

Honestly, there have been times I've reacted to a drama more emotionally than logically. Dramas like The Princess' Man or President got my heart moving faster than my brain. Even in those instances though, especially if I feel like reviewing the show, I can't help but mention whichever issues I noticed anyway. It's sort of like saying, "I loved this, but there were parts that sucked!" haha.

Playboys turn me off too. It always disappoints me when the male lead of a drama ends up being one. Did he play the part of Valmont? That part screams the need for charisma, but perhaps he worked well with it. Every time I think of that character, all I can see is Colin Firth or John Malkovich. XD

I've seen Jang Dong Gun particularly in war film, My Way and Tae Guk Gi. Though from what I've heard, the two films are considered similar....

What you described totally reminded me of Scooby Doo. We'd be just like Shaggy and Scooby when one of those costumed villains appears! XD

Ah, Shirota Yu! I had this enormous crush on him a few years ago, haha. His Tuxedo Mask was kind of cute, but definitely awkward. As Tezuka in the musical/live action Prince of Tennis, the effect was a little better. Saito Takumi used to be in those too, as well as Kato Kazuki. It's so strange to think about now.

All this talk about anime and anime-related things makes me want to try some of the newer shows. Though, sometimes I wonder whether I've fully grown of it. u.u

By the way, do you mind if I go ahead and knock out the remaining episodes of Introduction of the Princess? Don't feel pressured to watch or hurry to catch up, in either case. My memory is pretty good, so I can wait or go on as needed without ill efffect~

Hello again! I definitely didn't hate Iki mo Dekinai Natsu; thank you for encouraging me to watch it, before. This sort of drama, the kind that educates and entertains, is really my favorite type of show. I had no idea that such a problem could occur, but apparently it does...and more often than one would think. Apparently, at the time it was made, the koseki system was getting criticized pretty harshly. :o

How are your dramas treating you? Is Shinya Shokudo a good watch?

It would be fun to watch scary things with you then! Nothing elevates the chilling mood than someone who's way into it. I'm usually fine with films during the watching, unless it's in a theatre. For some reason, at that point, I almost end up in the lap of whomever I'm with, haha. "What are you--" "*Screech* ;A;" xD

I always forget there's a live action Sailor Moon! It looks like fun, though unfortunately they didn't have a big budget for it. There are also stage musicals, from which many young idols have launched their careers, haha. Are you familiar with any Macross beyond the original? Their concepts for music and culture is just so unique~

Here, we even have a unique product called "Robotech." In order to "make it understandable" to western audiences, they spliced three different installments to make one. It's not as good as the original, but strangely nice anyway, haha.

Wow! And here I thought my currently watching list was getting away from me. My mood is actually the opposite; almost everything has been grabbing my interest, so now it's a matter of choosing the right time to start this or that.

So glad to hear Ashita, Mama Ga Inai is good! Mana-chan is an incredible actress, though one of her young co-stars positively shone in Mother as well. Now I want to start it right away, haha.

Cunning Single Lady and Three Days are definitely for me. I cannot resist Joo Sang Wook or Son Hyun Joo for the world.

Otherwise, I'll eventually watch all of them...except maybe Secret Love Affair. Noona romance hasn't quite grasped me yet; my taste still runs older, haha.

Scary things send me packing most of the time too. For some reason, though, I've taken to reading horror novels during the day. The principle is to enjoy the thrill and forget it by night, ne? Unfortunately, this doesn't work as well as I'd hoped. Thank god for my dog and his adoration for the foot of my bed. XD

My taste for super heroes is waning a bit too. I still really like Captain America, but that would be my father's fault. He enjoyed him and the comics first, so I've had exposure to it all my life.

I've been wanting to get back into anime again, actually. Hearing about Sailor Moon, Macross, and Ranma again really did it. XD Did you see the Japanese live action special for that? It was interesting to say the least. XD

Oh my! I'd forgotten about Red Dragon. That film was terrifying. o_o All of the movies in that series are meant to be, though, haha.

Don't feel bad. There are dozens of things I need to catch up on as well. Last year I totally fell behind on western movies...probably only saw a handful. Even I haven't seen the last Iron Man movie. Do you generally enjoy super hero films, by the way? :o
