As someone who watches a lot of Western-influenced TV shows, I'm pretty used to a season ending on some sort of cliffhanger, but this left way too many things unresolved. One big cliffhanger, and the rest wrapped up in a pretty bow. That's the formula. Although I would have hated the cliffhanger to be Wayu's story, I'd be ok with it if the rest of it was all pretty, but it ain't. You can't leave your audience for months with just half a story. It's annoying.
The rest of this was pretty spot on for an "Engineer/College" Thai BL fluff piece. Acting was pretty good and for the first time in a long time I can say that I actually enjoyed seeing the main couple on screen. I, personally, would find the character of Mark kind of annoying if I were to date someone like him, but he seemed to be Kit's cup of tea, so who am I to judge? To be honest, Kit's "I act like I'm constantly mad at Mark, but I'm really not" routine would be pretty tiring in a relationship also. So, although neither of these characters were someone I could relate to personally, they seemed to get along really well and the actors pulled it off well.
The high schoolers' stories were all over the place and kind of confusing. And the two characters that helped at the college with all of the events were cringey (as usual), but the rest of the drama I enjoyed. I am looking forward to the writer and director giving the rest of the story. I suppose we'll see it sometime at the end of 2021 though. Feh!
You know... I've watched like 5 BL series in the last 3 days. Every single one of them has had a gratuitous shower scene. I'd like to tip my hat to "Gen Y" for going right at this cliché and making it the very first scene. Good job y'all!
Episode 2: What are the Chances? was filled with flirting and sexual tensions between Win and Jaime which seemed…
Jaime is really gorgeous, but holy Mary, mother of god is he giving me a creepy vibe. I don't know yet if it's the script or Allison's acting, but wow... do not want.
Hey! I always enjoy your posts, but I'm going to disagree with this one, as I thought it was pretty much... horrible.…
I see you found MDL. I'm going to say this again to you here.
I've seen many of your comments on now 2 different platforms and sometimes you say something that's totally correct. But why in the world do you always have to personally attack other commenters? Can't you just say your piece and move on? That schtick gets old, fast. I get that you're doing this whole "brutally honest" thing, but personal attacks don't teach anyone anything and are hurtful. Please stop.
But there are no English subs and it looks like a home-made art house film. It's a long monologue from a narrator over a couple of guys doing stuff in the background.
BL is by no means the focus of this story. This is a story about the consequences of homophobia that happens to have a cute couple in it. The focus here is on everyone around Ken and Shake, not Ken and Shake's romance. The romance, such as it is, is not developed on screen so there aren't really any cute, fluffy moments between the two. I mean there's a montage, but their romance goes from some mild flirting to hanging all over each other with no explanation. I liked this show for what it was, but I wouldn't necessarily put it in the BL genre.
After watching Episode 6: Christmas is All Around, I'm dreading the culmination of this series. With its double…
" Acting wasn't good but tolerable. "
You know... I don't have a problem with the acting. I've certainly seen worse in BLs before, but the piss-poor, slow, improperly phrased (know where your periods and commas are guys and take small breaks there... not in the middle of sentences,) READING is totally getting on my nerves. I get doing a bit of exposition at the beginning of the episode. That was always one of my favorite parts of "House of Cards", but wow, it's really not my cup of tea here. It's just boring. By the time they get done reading it, I've forgotten what the point was.
I barely got through Episode 5: True Gamer. None of the Varsity Boys (Terrence, Panter Ali, and Liam) were endearing…
"Their machismo and sexism were really annoying. "
I thought it was bad in Ep. 3 when Terrance compared gay people to animals, but that whole conversation was just off the HOOK cringy. Like...I was dumbfounded, both by the acting and the script. Just Yuck!
At this point in this drama, I'd like to be able to reach across the screen and slap the director, the script writer, and all of those boys for saying those lines.
This... isn't a BL? Bromance at best and more than half the time I'm not sure those two boys like each other at all. There is an undertone of servant/master through the whole thing making any sort of possible romance between these two unbalanced. And there wasn't any romance. The hand hold at the end was more a "buddy, I'm there for you," than a "I love you" thing.
I didn't like the abrupt ending and I hate how nothing was dealt with (friends, girlfriend, etc.) but the lead actors in this movie were amazing. I absolutely adored Adrian. His acting. His singing. Everything was spot on. I would love to see him as ML in a fully flushed out drama... and not just as effeminate boy comic relief.
Why would Earth leave Sam?! He's hot, he's caring/loving and he has a good job. I'm so mad that he hurt Sam like…
If your best friend and your significant other slept together, would you really be nice to either of those two people? I would have never taken Sam back in the first place. And I can find another best friend; I would never talk to Stud again. I wouldn't be angry, I would just be done with the both of them.
Because Earth want to live a true life by himself. All things of Sam is not his wanting. That's why some couple,…
This. So much this. Earth is a people pleaser. He wants everyone around him to be happy. Even everyone in his group of friends thinks of him as some kind of saint. He rarely complains about anything. And Sam, whether consciously or unconsciously, took advantage of this. Sam made plans with little consultation from Earth just expecting Earth to accept them all, everything from where and what they eat to where they will live and how they will adopt a child in the future. Most of the time, you could tell, these decisions were a surprise to Earth. At this point, after holding in years of complaints and stress that he never voiced, Earth finally said, "That's all I can take." The breakup was the right decision for Earth, no matter how much that decision hurt Sam. He needs to step back and find his voice in order to be in a healthy relationship.
Why all the Good hate? In the first episodes he seems distracted, and he explained it was because of his business failing. That kind of takes a bit of precedence over giving a girl friend all of his attention. Eating and roof over your head>giving excess attention to a girl friend. And now he's being f&cked over by Bew and Safe (on purpose mind you) and Boyo is taking their side over and over. I'm not sure I would be a loving boyfriend at that moment either. He has a point. He wants this to go well or he could lose his entire livelihood.
Hey, not sure if you've watched yet, but Moira's scenes are pretty easily skippable. I fully employed the skip…
I did end up going ahead and watching it. But... are you my spirit animal? I'm pretty sure I could have written your entire post myself :) I skipped all scenes involving Moira right after she kidnapped the dog. I knew she was going to get no better from there. I also found the drama pretty cringe and made liberal use of the skip button, but I did honestly enjoy it. It's just that some of it was too over the top and Moira was a no-go for me.
I also tend to try to steer away from the toxic relationship dramas as much as I can. It took me 3 tries to get through Tharntype because I found Tharn and Type very very hot, but so incredibly toxic. Type kept hitting Tharn, and Tharn did some pretty questionable things to Type in the beginning. So, anyway... I get you.
Thanks for the help though. I appreciate you getting back to me.
