I love how soft they are with each other. Ep 29 gave me the tenderness and sweetness I've come to expect from them.

While I do agree the drama has put the romantic scenes in the backseat in these recent episodes, I have to say that it did attempt to show LW's concerns. Just very subtly. After hearing about what happened from Shangguan in ep 27, she was tearing up and YY patted her shoulder telling her it will be fine. She and YY wrote letters to get an audience with the Lord and plead their case, but were refused until he finally decided to let YZ out of jail and let them meet the Madams. While we saw how YZ was injured and knelt outside in the rain, she didn't know that part. I don't think she would imagine this Lord would treat his sons this way, especially with how loving her parents are to her. I was kind of surprised he treated them that badly. Terrible father indeed.

I will be very sad when she leaves 🥲 Even more than when Song Wu did.

Not sure what the ending part of ep 30's preview is about, but I swear there are enough little scenes like that throughout this drama to make a LW x YY fan edit lol

Same here. I came not looking for much romance and it has already given me more than I expected. I also didn’t expect to be invested in every single character’s s/l.

I first saw this done by Joe Wright in 2005’s Pride and Prejudice and it’s always left such an impression on me. Now I always instantly notice this technique whenever I see it again.

I appreciate that they’ve introduced domestic abuse and how women back then could handle these situations.

Also, this is a slow burn romance spanning 40 episodes. We need a little hesitations and back and forth before they get together or else it would just turn into a domestic couple’s life. At least it’s done logically. I for one, tend to get bored once lead couples get together.

In ep 21, that one shot no cut panning of Li Wei walking through the restaurant talking from person to person was so well done!
