I can’t believe they set up that scene in the end when SRQ was burning in the fire and she was literally going to jump in to save him if PWX wasn’t there to hold her back. If you don’t care about your life, fine, but what about your unborn child?? It gutted me so much and I’m not even PWX. Completely ruined their romance for me. This scene in the novel was never like this. Li Rong had low EQ, but not to this magnitude.

Chinese productions have this operation called "flying pages". It means during filming, scripts can be revised and things are added. So it's really hard to know beforehand what you're in for. By then the actors have already signed the contracts so they would have to act regardless if they're happy with the story direction or not. It's especially harder for newer actors without a strong backing to have a say as well. This producer also did a rare thing where the daily filming outlines were released without details. Only "-----------" next to each character's name so fans on the scene had no idea what was actually being filmed.

She negatively affected ZJM as well with how the character became on screen in order to push SRQ. This drama would have been a hit if it was adapted without bias by a more capable screenwriter. It's a shame to waste such good acting, chemistry and visual cinematography. I see a lot of people blaming the director, but they don't know that Yuan Yumei was literally around all the time. She definitely had a hand in how some scenes were filmed. I'd credit that slow motion falling off the cliff scene to her 😒

Other than obvious antis, I have yet to see anyone in China criticize ZLH negatively in this drama. Despite the producer and screenwriter's efforts at trying to suppress his character's highlights by swapping plots, cutting scenes, and downplaying his cleverness to make him look like just a "love brain", he was still the main reason many drama watchers continued the drama despite the other frustrating characters. Drama fans usually have a saying: the ML and FL belongs to each other and SML belongs to the audience, but this time, it is the SML and FL belongs with each other and the ML belongs to us, the audience.
