Sooo I came across this post on Weibo predicting the resolution to XD and YL's problem based on clues hinted throughout the drama that might be the "unexpected" that we've been hearing about.

Right? And I will keep saying this until the cows come home, but these scenes could’ve packed such an emotional punch if they included these cuts. Thinking about it makes me annoyed 😩

They released the kiss bts cut from ep 29 as well. That one was longer and hotter 😆 I’m saddened for all the missed intensity we could’ve had 🥲

Oh yeah, I had to rewind that scene to see who she was talking about. It might have been another result of the cutting. I don't know who Yu is (maybe she and XD gave his brother a nickname, like how his is Fang Jiang), but the English translation was bad. She was referring to herself in the third person as the sister-in-law and said "I had promised your brother I would help seek justice for you" So I think she meant the real XD because then she tried to prevent XD from going to kill her father.

I was so annoyed we got only 30 seconds of XD in ep 30 and they didn't even showed the fight scene that they teased in the trailer 🙄

Yeah. I also read that in the novel it was another eunuch who was the murderer, not her father, and XD did kill that person. So people were also complaining about why use the father as a plot device and not go through with it, which then leads right back to the same conversation lol.

Bai Jingting is pretty popular in China and that drama made it over 10,000 heat index(I think partially due to the uncut romantic scenes). But yes, they were a legitimately married couple.

I also think all the cutting, plus unskilled scriptwriting, did damage to the narrative and these points the drama was trying to get across.

Double edge sword. We don't want to wait 40,000 years in between episodes, but we also don't want it to end so soon.

She also blindingly trusted him to drink that poison wine even when she had no clue what his plan was. And killing someone will not bring back the dead. Why not cherish the living person who has given your life new meaning instead. I just found all those conversations funny and how focused they were about the fact that XD spent six years trying to find the killer for vengeance.

They did this in New Life Begins, with all kiss scenes left in tact. So many times, that I started questioning how the censors allowed it lol.

I don't think she had one. I remember it was mainly because she was made to do so in place of the older half-sister and also in exchange for giving her mother better living conditions due to her being sick. But then later found out her father lied to her about her mother being dead, so maybe revenge for that?

Doesn't seem like it because I see the fans telling others to go and report all the 1 stars as spam and then Douban would look into it and screen them out. So in the end, the fans have to put in the work. I give Chinese fans props for dedication because they work really hard when they support any celebrity, negatively or positively lol.
