i'm actually really happy they turned kang su jin into such a girl crush character! i do understand all the criticisms…
i think that suho saw jugyung's little wallet/makeup bag with her photo sticker keychain when she went to the bathroom after they met in the park. then when she ran out with the cake on her face, he saw her holding it & put it together. that's why he saved her in that moment. they zoomed in on it when she grabbed it from the desk, so it will be funny to see if it was a diversion or deliberate choice! i agree with the person who said they wished it was her little horror backpack charm, but i know we can't get everything from the webtoon.
i definitely do not remember suho being so mean in the webtoon & i kind of hope he did already find out jugyung's secret (& we're not being faked out) so that the plot can move along quickly.
i'm actually really happy they turned kang su jin into such a girl crush character! i do understand all the criticisms about moon ga young's voice & acting so i do hope that this doesn't become another "cheese in the trap" with how the director wanted lee sung kyung to portray baek in ha. but back then lee sung kyung didn't have as many acting credits to show her range and for moon ga young we KNOW that's not her normal acting style. in "the great seducer" & more recently in "find me in your memory," her acting was much different. i didn't really love her acting in "exo next door" so i thought this drama would be her doing that + five years of growth & experience i know she has.
my rule is always to watch 4 episodes of a show before judging, & i get that people don't want to waste their time... but i never understand when someone drops after 1 or 2 episodes. the first 2 episodes are ALWAYS to lay the background story for the characters & plot. how can you judge anything by that? some of the greatest shows that ran for multiple seasons have the WORST pilots when you go back to watch them.
they actually allow jugyung & seo jun to date. i HATE how these dramas act like the female leads can only ever…
it's really interesting to me how many people can read/watch the same thing and experience so many different perspectives! i never felt like jugyung was thinking about suho romantically while dating seo jun - what parts made you feel that way? i felt like she was shocked when he came back because he is her "first love," but after that she was just worried about meeting him because it bothered seo jun.
they actually allow jugyung & seo jun to date. i HATE how these dramas act like the female leads can only ever…
yes i am totally with you on the double standard. i think that's part of why it's frustrating to me. someone even commented on this page that jugyung is disloyal in this webtoon for dating seo jun.... after suho moved to another country, stopped speaking to her, and a few years passed? LOL plus i think the dramas where it's initially unclear who the lead will end up with are more appealing just because they seem less predictable, but those are rare.
I haven’t read the webtoon. Can you please spoil it for me? I just want to understand the story the drama is…
jugyung was bullied in middle school so she spends the summer before entering high school mastering everything about makeup to look pretty. she goes to a comic book store without makeup & meets suho. later she's horrified to learn he goes to her school & could reveal her secret about her no-makeup face. they also go to school with seo jun, who has a bad history with suho. seo jun starts to have a crush on jugyung but she likes suho. however around episode 60, suho is forced to move to japan & he stops talking to jugyung even though he still likes her. once they graduate high school & move to college, seo jun & jugyung start dating pretty seriously. then suho comes back from japan. the three of them are struggling with their relationships to each other but also their individual dreams (jugyung wants to be a makeup artist, seo jun wants to be a singer, & suho is very good at school but lost on what career path to follow).
there's 100+ episodes so there are some more parts to the story, but that is roughly the plot. that is why i am curious if they will just keep the drama to their high school years!
Ikr, they better not go with the webtoon plot it had gotten so bad also the story isn't even completed yet so…
the korean webtoon isn't finished. there's currently 133 free episodes on naver & 122 free episodes translated into english. the author yaongyi recently went on a korean TV show & apparently said that she has at least 100 more episodes planned lol
I don't think it would be good to watch the last episode first, probably because they are changing stuff in the…
unfaithful? lol i like suho & he had his reasons, but he literally just stopped responding to her messages after going abroad. since you skipped, maybe you didn't see that in the webtoon. how do you be "faithful" to someone who left the country & won't talk to you?
If the drama is going to deviate away from the webtoon, I just hope they still include Jugyeong and Seojun’s…
i just wrote this comment & then read yours after HAHA. i feel the EXACT same way. OR i hope they confine it to ONLY their high school years, which leaves it open for future seasons (wishful thinking? LOL)
as a loyal reader of the webtoon, i don't mind at all if this show deviates from the source material to make the…
they actually allow jugyung & seo jun to date. i HATE how these dramas act like the female leads can only ever like one man their entire life? part of why i liked the webtoon is that she has meaningful relationships with BOTH guys. because that is real life and that is normal. most people date more than one person before ending up with them forever.
even if other dramas "allow" the female lead to date another guy, she rarely kisses them or says "i love you" - they always break up with her deciding she's always been in love with the first guy. this is dumb, and i want a drama where both guys genuinely have equal chances like the webtoon has shown.
as a loyal reader of the webtoon, i don't mind at all if this show deviates from the source material to make the drama more exciting, i only have two wishes: 1. they either keep it to the characters' high school years the whole way & leave room for a season 2 (even if it never comes) OR
i don't know why this drama was 16 episodes because it felt they they had about 8 episodes of material & then…
what i wish happened is that joon soo's clingy phase never happened because she continued to date him for the next 10 years while soo GENUINELY had a one sided crush on her & traveled all over the world. then joon soo & woo yeon have a normal break up & she meets soo again when they are both more MATURE.
also i am really bitter that young hee spent all that time taking photos of her secretly proposing to hyun jae & then HE NEVER FOUND OUT ABOUT IT?? their ending was SO UNSATISFYING
i don't know why this drama was 16 episodes because it felt they they had about 8 episodes of material & then the same plot happened over & over for the second half?? lol
more on double standards:a HJP fan complained about DS telling HJP that dalmi was the only "thing" he had, saying…
sorry i don't want to spoiler tag this because i think it's important: in korean NEITHER of them called dalmi a "thing," because there is no subject in the sentence in korean. if you translate what dosan said exactly: "there is only one" or "i have only one" but in english it doesn't make sense without a subject, so they have to translate it as "there is only one THING i have."
then as @dhalbit said, jipyung just turned it around to say "then let's exchange the 'one' you have for all the material items i have" - as if to say, material things cannot replace relationships with people you care about. the subtext in that scene is obviously that as viewers, we know that everything dosan lacks (money, material goods) is what jipyung has - but everything jipyung lacks (parents, friends, a romantic relationship) is what DOSAN has.
this web drama is short & sweet in a really unique format. i've seen han sung min in other shows but her acting blew me away here because she truly did seem like a natural vlogger! very cute.
i have such mixed feelings about this drama. i don't love the "slice of life" genre (with a few exceptions) and this felt like it was a slice of life drama masquerading as an inspirational/romantic one? part of me liked that they seemed to set up drama cliches only to subvert expectations, and then the other part of me was feeling like nothing happened in the plot. i agree that the development of the main characters was ok, but some of the ways they wrapped up all their complicated feelings at the end were odd.
I dropped this like three weeks ago but I'm curious about what happened with Hae Na and Jin Woo, were they still…
nope. they broke up after admitting they weren't strong enough to go against their parents. then we skipped two years & they didn't show us haena at all lol
i couldn't give this movie a rating. i totally got "requiem for a dream" vibes while watching this, but i definitely think it wasn't executed as well as it could have been. the acting & cinematography is great. i don't think it's fair to say this movie is "bad," but it's also not without flaws.
no lol. he keeps saying he would like to do one, but he is "only offered" thrillers. but if you haven't watched "7 first kisses" yet, it quick watch & extremely cheesy romance.
among all the horrible actions of the villains in this drama the one thing i couldn't get over was that cha moon sook - knowing that she ordered the murder of jae yi's mother - ASKED JAE YI TO CALL HER "MOM." that was some sick, twisted shit. i really hated that they didn't show jae yi's father fully realizing what a disgusting person the judge was? we got so many scenes of him supporting her that i felt cheated when we didn't get to see the shoe drop.
i felt like the writer of this show got a little confused because there were SO many different plot lines in this.…
i have no idea why but the true crime enthusiast in my brain was kind of wondering/hoping(?) that moon seung ho didn't actually kill seo yun & the real killer was tae eun's dad LOL. moon seung ho's character was weirdly inconsistent to me & tae eun's dad felt like he was so dangerously curious about jeong hoon's condition that he didn't care about what hurt him.
their breakups were all extremely unnecessary. it was so frustrating that every time they'd be like healthy adults - "let's get through this hardship TOGETHER." & then immediately 2 seconds later they'd be like "no we can't date even tho we want to because reasons" ???
i definitely do not remember suho being so mean in the webtoon & i kind of hope he did already find out jugyung's secret (& we're not being faked out) so that the plot can move along quickly.

also that noodle scene killed me LOL
my prediction below~
