when suho's dad left i had a really bad feeling & then the previews came. if they shove suho leaving for the states into the end of this plot & then time skip to them being together, i'm going to be really irritated. i am completely fine with suho being end game in this drama version & her never dating seo jun. but to add in the plot of suho leaving when it is literally the reason seo jun & joo gyung get together in the webtoon.....??? also feels like the ending will be rushed if they make him leave!!! can't believe there's only one more week after this

i felt the same. i expected a decrease in quality but i was really scared the writer change would completely ruin the show by the end. like you said it wasn't as slick, but it was good enough!

i thought they implied she had some type of chronic illness in the jeju island scenes... when the secretary made her get the IV treatment? & because she was so careful about what she eats/drinks... i thought that was related to her health, like maybe certain foods can trigger some flare up for her. that is common with autoimmune diseases. it does seem like they keep hinting at it for all 3 siblings!

this drama may not be your style but i think it's harsh to say it's overrated. this is one of the very few shows i would recommend to my friends who aren't into asian dramas. like most people said, i'm not sure who compared this to "the guest" because i would not consider them similar at all? this show isn't like a thriller/horror type supernatural show, it's action.

that said, i didn't love the first few episodes of this show because the set-ups were rough so i understand where your thoughts are coming from. it may not be for you if you don't really love ensemble shows or like "crime-fighting team" superhero-esque type stuff. but this show easily turned into one of my favorites for this year. hopefully it will stay that way with the departure of their writer & the possibility of a season 2. sometimes these dramas do everything right & then nosedive at the end.

i definitely would watch it! he needs to give the people what they want hahah

yes, i did read the latest chapter. you said she "wavered" when suho "came back" so i understood that at when he came back from japan. when joo gyung was still dating seojun. i have seen many comments call joo gyung "disloyal" for dating seo jun long before these new chapters, so i was hoping you could explain that to me because it sounded like you felt that way too. if you only meant that condensing it would make her look bad in the drama, that's fine.

personally, i do feel that they could have developed her being with both guys in 16 episodes if they did it as joo gyung has an innocent high school first love with suho, suho is forced to leave, time skip of him not talking to them, she starts dating seojun in university, suho comes back & there is a conflict. suho actually only comes back like 3 months after joo gyung starts to date seojun, so there's not actually a huge gap there.

but i didn't expect that either, i wrote comments before this aired saying that even tho i hoped seojun would get a shot, i also hoped they would keep this drama reserved for their high school time only. in an ideal world for me, there would be seasons of this show with suho & joo gyung developing their relationship but him leaving at the end, then season 2 is seojun helping her through it like the webtoon. but i am sure that won't happen either. i never thought joo gyung would end up with seojun at the end of the webtoon or at the end of the drama, so i wasn't hoping for that.

the reason i like her being with both guys is because there is even more growth in seeing why a relationship does or doesn't work. joo gyung & seojun's relationship are like so many others - no one did anything WRONG, they just have different goals so they don't work together. as many people pointed out, she is much better suited to suho but he needs to work on his mental health and his communication in order for them to work out. so i loved the idea that suho was her first love, left her without a word so she felt betrayed, she is helped through that by seojun who ends up her first kiss and first boyfriend, they are incompatible so they break up, which gives them all room to grow and then she can end up with suho again when they are both more mature.

i do think yaongyi did begin putting in weird side stories and dragging out things because they keep offering her more episodes. i never wanted this to follow the webtoon exactly. but i did think there was a lot of potential with the base plot, and i understand people's criticisms who are attached to the webtoon. is is honestly inevitable with any book/webtoon turned into a drama/movie, but it's harder when one of the characters who is such a HUGE part of the story is changed significantly. the comments on the webtoon episodes on naver or on the webtoon app are all about "team seojun" or "team suho" so naturally a good chunk of the audience who read the webtoon would want it to follow the route of seojun having a bigger part. i really enjoy the changes they've made with the other characters in the drama, so i'm curious to see where they'll go with everything from now on.

i also hope she faked it but i feel like they already set up her "twin" character when logan showed her the picture of the woman with the tattoo, & that's what will happen instead. that lee ji ah will come back to play this new lady. but fingers crossed she is still around somehow :( if anyone could bring a character back from the dead it would be a drama like this haha

i felt skeptical when joo gyung & soo jin revealed their "secrets" to each other. i feel like soo jin will either be angry suho likes joo gyung & tell everyone, or soo jin will mistakenly believe joo gyung told someone her own secret & then retaliate in a hurtful way.

i definitely interpreted it the same way as you, & i also had thoughts wondering if i read the same thing because of those comments! especially when they showed us how suho stopped responding to all their messages & literally ghosted them... i don't understand how anyone expects joo gyung to continue liking him when he moved to a different country & stopped speaking to her for YEARS? thanks for making me feel a little less crazy haha

in the webtoon there is a time gap between joo gyung liking suho vs. liking seo jun. the webtoon starts with high school, they graduate without su ho & joo gyung doesn't start dating seo jun until college? if you look at the characters wiki, it says they were 19 "pre time skip" & are now 21. it's not as if dramas never have time skips, but with the way this drama moved it was obvious that they weren't going that direction which is fine.

i would be happy if you could explain to me, because i often see comments saying how joo gyung "wavered" when suho returned but i never thought they webtoon was showing that? like she was surprised when she ran into him the first time & i only felt like she was conscious around suho because she was worried about how seo jun viewed their relationship since it was causing issues for them. i even remember the scene with the umbrella where they talk about how joo gyung could be so physically close to suho because she didn't have any feelings for him anymore & treated him like a friend. what did you feel like was an example of her "wavering" when he came back?

i obviously knew it was coming but i didn't expect to feel so emotional over the fact that joo gyung's first kiss was with suho instead of seo jun. when i saw the edits comparing the drama kiss to the webtoon frames of her & seo jun... i felt that change lol. & i definitely wanted the drama to be different than the webtoon! i'm happy with a lot of the changes & i totally knew suho was end game, i'm just definitely wondering how they're going from here.

& most likely joo gyung's brother too.... haha

the webtoon has flaws & i didn't want the drama to follow it exactly either. but the idea that a girl can like two guys at different times in her life doesn't make her fickle lol. that's the part i liked most about the webtoon, that it realistically showed how most people don't date & love only one person their whole lives. korean dramas tend to have these plots where a girl loves one guy for YEARS even if they're like in different countries & never speaking to each other which is not how most people live...

what makes this drama unique to me is that the 4 leads actually all have such insane chemistry with each other?? whenever dan ah & mi joo meet i start laughing before they even speak just bc of their facial expressions... but mi joo & young hwa chattering away while seon gyum sat there also killed me. the bromance is a good match too bc seon gyum & young hwa have contrasting (& yet complementary) personalities. then we have our family friends who somehow seem to simultaneously know each other too well & can explain their friend’s actions to other people but can never understand what the other person is thinking or saying?? LOL & obviously our two couples have chemistry that goes without saying..

understandably everyone loves the dancing scene & i'm totally with you hahah. but i keep replaying jukyung's "i'm the one who's sorry. i saw everything." *rawr* LOL moon ga young was so insanely cute in that moment! agree with everyone who said episode 6 was the best episode so far :)

the first 2 episodes of this drama made me realize something about most of the newer korean dramas - the highlight of the first two episodes for me is usually the transitions & editing, but they rarely stay consistent after that (probably because so many of them are filmed as they air & rushing to meet deadlines...)
i totally understand people who don't want to invest time in dramas they won't like, but the first 2 are always laying groundwork for the characters...so i always reserve judgment until after episode 4. anyway i'm one of the people looking forward to the next ones!

i'm not really bothered by it either, i just understand where the criticism is coming from. i was hoping it doesn't become another "cheese in the trap" because people were really mean to lee sung kyung when they didn't like her acting style even tho she was also just following directions & i don't want that to happen again.

i am also really excited & looking forward to the director's work :)

OOH i didn't think of what you said! i really like your theory; i feel like that would be better because it requires more thinking from suho & shows viewers how smart he is, instead of just telling us how he's the top student lol. the one thing that made me laugh was when jugyung made him sign the contract, she literally wrote "lee su ho" & "IM JUGYUNG" at the bottom but he DIDN'T NOTICE when he signed it!! i thought that was gonna be the moment he realized! but then i thought, well i guess the point is that suho doesn't care about people around him so he probably wouldn't even remember jugyung's name lol.
