I wasn't a big fan on the novel but really loving the changes they have made for the drama. Kudos to scriptwriters for making the drama better than source material.

while I adore the FL... I am not feeling it with her paired with the ML romantically... I thought by this point…
I'm sorry but she doesn't look like a 12 year old to me. She's young looking but she's clearly post puberty. There's a significant age difference between her and ML but she is, by no way a kid imo.

What peeps are saying + AveX + douban ... I'm glad I waited! 🤣
yup Im glad i dropped this early. Really not into torture porn and mistreatment of characters just for the sake of it.
On Till the End of the Moon May 10, 2023
I dropped this series around the dream arc as I low key hated everyone except the ML and was dissatisfied with the quality of writing. People here were defending the writing but look at them now? Guess I was right after all.

Poor ML didn't deserve the abuse, he didn't deserve to suffer for crimes he never committed and he deserved better than the FL who betrayed him multiple times and was super prejudiced against him. The drama completely fucked up the novel's core themes and was completely disrespectful to the source material. The ML in the novel was evil and he needed to suffer and sacrifice to redeem himself. The ML in the drama was never evil, he was just a punching bag who existed to suffer. There is no character development, no thematic consistency. Its just torture porn.

UNPOPULAR OPINION: From episodes 1 to 20 I really liked Li Su Su so much but starting from episode 21 till the…
Seriously don't know how anyone can still cheer for this couple. Like FL is so unlikable and unless you are a hardcore fan you can't excuse her actions. I fault the writers. And I don't expect her to ever mend her ways -- remember according to the drama she is in the right and ML is evil so he will be punished more and he will beg at her feet some more before the so called happy ending. No wonder douban rating is dropping for this drama.

The person who massacred her whole sect is not TTJ. TTJ has not killed all those people so how is she being fair when she abuses him and holds him responsible for crimes he has not yet and will never commit? She's just like everyone else, she's cruel to him just for the sake of it. She doesn't have an iota of love for him and he's only into her because he doesn't know what love is and is used to abuse.

I don't see TTJ as morally grey. I don't see him as a villain. That's why I feel like he's being unfairly treated by the FL and by fans who call him toxic.

Sing Jiu got that part a bit, not as cruel as TTJ though. In dream arc she ask why she’s been bullied just because…
Yes and fans took her side and called MY all kind of names and said he was responsible for everything. He wasn't anymore at fault than her yet he was crucified in this very comment section. That was the point I was making.

I love dark stories. I love morally grey characters. I even like villains. I would have no problem if TTJ(be male or female) were truly evil but he is not. That's my entire problem with this drama.

We don’t need to do a thought experiment because the abuse TTJ goes through in this entirely made up, fantasy…
As a woman who lives in a third world country I don't understand why you'd bring real life issues here. Yes, awful things happen to women in real life just like how awful things happen to men in real life. Or are you saying only women get abused and men don't? Does suffering also has a gender? And TTJ has to suffer because some women suffer? Is this why female fans like to male characters suffer in cdrams? Is this revenge fantasy? I told people to do thought experiment because people have inherent biases.

Anyway, I see people as human beings first, so I take side of oppressed characters regardless of gender. I see the plot and hold characters accountable based on the story. That's why I loved FL in the novel but can't stand her in the drama. In the novel (yes, I've read the novel) TTJ was evil and FL was right in her treatment of him. In the drama TTJ is not evil and FL is in the wrong. If TTJ was cruel and evil in the drama then I'd be cheering for FL but since he isn't, I won't be gaslighted into taking her side.

yeah I know and that's why it's a family friendly show..lol
I'm not forgetting anything. Devil Lord and TTJ are different and future has not yet happened. TTJ has not killed FL's family yet but FL has hurt and abused and tortured ML just to complete her mission. And love is not unconditional. If someone I love lies, abuses and hurts me constantly and then puts nails in my heart (which is torture btw) then I would also repay them in kind. You talk about ML hurting FL but fail to see how FL literally puts nails in his heart and constantly tortures him, its unbelievable.

She saved him for her own ulterior motives. She would have killed him on day one if she was allowed to so lets not act like she did him some service. The poor guy was so abused in life and she didn't even allow him to die. Anyway, just do a thought experiment. Flip the genders. Keep everything else the same but make TTJ female and SuSu male. Be honest and tell me who is the toxic one.
On Till the End of the Moon Apr 25, 2023
How many people would enjoy this show if genders are flipped and FL gets treated like ML was treated in this show? How many would root for the so called love story if we keep everything else same but make TTJ character female and SuSu character male? Just do a thought experiment. Keep everything else the same but flip the genders. Tell me now who is the toxic one and where is the love story.

Tan Tai Jin is quite toxic. It's getting difficult to like him now, he just uses loneliness and pity for audiences…
Seriously? The FL is the toxic one and actually not wife material. No guy would love a woman who literally tried to kill him IRL. The ML was treated like dirt by everyone and has never received an iota of love or care from anyone which is why he fell for the first person who showed some fake care for him. He would never fall for someone like her if he had a healthy upbringing like a mother who loved him and a father who protected him. It's such a pity that we are being asked to root for this love story given how FL abuses and betrays and hurts and uses ML.

Guess its okay to torture ML but not FL. That's so family friendly right? If FL was treated like ML was treated in this show all the women would revolt I guess.

People who are criticizing the fl should read the novel. They will understand he then. And will also know who…
What evil things? Gimme some examples. Tell me what evil acts he has committed and how unforgivable his actions are in the context of time/story. And no, fighting back against abuse or killing those who tried to kill him don't count.

Is future set in stone? Clearly not, otherwise FL could never come back to change the future. TTJ is not yet the demon king, he has the potential to become one so if FL kills him now she will be only murdering an innocent man based on uncertain future potential. And ironically enough he only becomes evil after SuSu betrays him and tries to kill him for being born with a curse. And clearly its FL whose pretty face (or is it her gender? )makes people root for her because I remember how people were cheering for her in dream arc as she turned demonic.

Maybe its too hard for you to understand, but normal human beings feel empathy toward wronged, cursed, suffering characters. Normal human beings also have a worldview that allows for shades of grey. Maybe you should stop being so prejudiced against ML (pretty face, really?) and see deeper into character and plot-line. There is a reason why douban score for this drama is low despite the budget and acting you know?

I made a lengthy post outlining some of my issues with the plot. Doesn't mean you have to agree but doesn't mean I am in the wrong you know? And biases are inherent, we are all biased one way or another. I'm in a minority on this page but I'm waiting for douban scores to see if chinese audience share my concerns.

Super unpopular opinion here but I think she is spot on about plot problems. I had high hopes for this drama and…
As someone who has read the novel, I am frustrated by the changes they have made and how they have removed plot lines that made the story consistent. Take dream arc for example. MY was an asshole in the novel. He didn't care for clam princess, ignored her for years and only started liking her after she saved him. By the time he fell in love with her she had become disillusioned and moved on. In a sense it was poetic justice. But in the drama, MY wasn't a jerk, he was simply deceived by evil SFL. The drama took a complex story about unrequited love and self respect and turned it into a story about miscommunication.

The drama softened MY but kept clam princess the same., which made her look irrational. Same thing has happened in main story too. TTJ was evil in the novel. He was abused yes, but he also was an abusive guy, he killed innocent people. But in the drama he was whitewashed a lot, he didn't do anything that was morally repugnant, he only fought back to survive and punished those who had tried to murder him. The drama and FL frame his completely understandable actions as morally evil and expect the audience to condemn him for the crime of being alive. Its frustrating to watch. Like yeah, he killed the maid who literally sold him to his brother. So evil right. How dare he not forgive her, how dare he survive her assassination attempt? He should just roll over and die, right?

In China, you can't make your ML evil due to censorship reasons. I understand that. But then don't gaslight the audience by saying your ML is evil when he is not. TTJ is an abused, traumatized man who has the potential to turn evil because of a curse, he is not distasteful, he is a victim. FL has to kill him for the greater good, and its a genuine moral dilemma if you think about it. She should be conflicted because what she is doing is wrong, not because she fell in love with him. By killing him she is essentially punishing him for crimes he hasn't even committed. Can you see how that's morally wrong?

The drama takes a complex and complicated story and makes it bland and full of cliches. The plot doesn't make sense, the characters lack consistency and worse of all, the drama pretends that audience are incapable of understanding nuance. I'm honestly curious about Douban ratings now because outside of die hard fans, others are bound to notice these things.

at what point does our FL realize she truly loves our ML? Asking ambiguously because of the different character…
In the book ML was unquestionably evil and killed many innocent people. So FL doesn't love him and betrays him. You can understand her motives because even though he felt for her he's still a bad guy. But unfortunately they have whitewashed him here but have kept FL the same. Its a pity because it makes FL look bad.
