i think the thing i liked the least about this drama was the unreasonable love of soi for yul, it made no sense.
Why is it unreasonable? A handsome prince saved her from the gangsters, and he was kind and gentle to her, concerned about her safety and well being. Who would not have fallen in love? Particularly for someone who haven't been treated kindly by all the people around her.
AoS S1's finale scored its highest Netflix numbers. Ranked #3 in Non-English TV shows with 28.59 million hours viewed (week Aug 22 to 28). And Ranked #5 in total combined English + Non-English TV shows.
Overall, it ranks #8 for all Netflix K-Dramas since June 2021 (date when Neflix made viewing stats available) at 156.28 million total viewing hours.
EAW did maintain its #1 Non-English TV show despite no new episodes.
Surprising numbers from Netflix. EAW maintained it's #1 position for Non-English TV show despite no new episodes with 53.8 million hours viewed. And still at #2 overall English + Non-english, once again narrowly beating The Sandman.
For the All Time list, it is solidifying its #6 position at 369.6 million hours viewed within first 28 days, with a chance of getting into #5 (it has 3 more chances to do so).
Pity that you don't share the joy of watching one of the BEST drama in 2022 and the ALL TIME most viewed K-drama…
Yes, it means that it's a drama that billions of people love. So it has at least won the "people's choice" masterpiece. Will it win the same from critics and professionals? We will see after all the major awards are handed out at the end of year.
Crown Prince really messed up in the last episode :( I can't help but blame him for allowing Jin Mu to do his…
I don't think he feels guilty at all; he has no clue what Jin Mu has done. He will actually be very worried when he learned that JU is alive. I think he is going to turn dark in S2
I have a serious question. I'm still in episode 5 and I'm wondering, why the four seasons look like kpop idols?…
This is a fantasy drama, and not a historical drama. So yes, the characters and costumes designs are "modernized" a bit; with dyed hair etc. And 2 out of the four seasons are real life idols anyways :)
Its a decent show but definitely overrated and blew up much bigger than it deserved. The drama is basically a bunch…
The cases are based on real legal cases. That's why the drama was praised for reflecting the reality. Sure, if you are looking for murders, drug dealers, main characters' lives at stake in every episode, or a thriller, yeah, then this drama is not for you. And that's not what this drama is about anyways. As mentioned in my other posts, season 2 is highly unlikely at this point.

Overhyped? I guess not for millions of viewers. With a weekly release drama, you can't force so many people to watch it week after week with just hype. People have to love the show to push it to higher and higher ratings each week.
With records after records, it fully deserved all the hype and attention. And I predict it is going to get nominated and win a lot of awards at the end of the year.
Typical inaccurate title to attract attention. Title: "Season 2 Confirmed" Article: "plans are in motion" (what? so it's not really confirmed?) Reality: Only the CEO pushing it, no other cast or director has signed on.
The key deciding factor is PEB. No PEB = No Season 2.
ummm ... well I want to like this dram coz of acting and the dialogues , but I just couldn't get hooked to this…
My response is not particularly directed at your comment, but one thing I find most interesting in MDL is the obsession with "character development". Every character needs "development" and everyone should have a "back story" :) But the sentiments here don't seem to reflect that of the general audience, maybe that's why there is a big disconnect between ratings here and those in the real world.
It's really hard to see Body and Soul as Separate things. No matter how deep their love, Physical appearance still…
The writer can write anything he/she wants in a fantasy world. But the audience needs to be convinced. If the audience don't buy it (and need explanation and convincing like what you are doing), then it's not going to work.
KTO is the ML in this drama, and I feel that is more like acting in a supporting role
Even though it is listed as a ML, but the whole drama is centered around WYW. In k-drama, usually if you look at the main poster, it would give you some idea. Here in the poster, you only see WYW in the law office and her whales.
It seems like there is a ceiling for Fantasy drama’s in Korea. This is one of the reasons I wish people were…
I think it could have done much better with faster pace and tighter plot, especially with international audience. It should have decided whether it wants to an action drama or a RomCom. Now that it is a of both, it loses focus. It is now too slow to be an action drama, and too dark to be a RomCom. Fans here don't mind as they like seeing their beloved characters. But this does not appeal to the wider audience. They could have been less greedy and concentrate on the story plot and made the 30 episodes into a 16 or 20 episodes action drama, and it would have been much better.
It is integral to the character and story of WYW.

My Netflix played the preview/teaser immediately after Ep 20.

Congratz EAW team.

Try watching a couple episodes to see if you like it.

The best you can hope for is a cameo.
You can get some flash back from S1, or at best a brief cameo in S2.
