Going to watch this only for Ahn Eun Jin....But not through Netflix after what they did to YAH. Illegal sources…
But if you want to support the actors/actresses, watching through legal source is the only way. Watching through piracy would only be for yourself, with no benefit to AEJ and the rest of the cast.
Well this "bad" show is loved by most in Korea, and it is now #5 all time cable TV ratings, and could likely move…
Both songs you mentioned were landmark songs which propelled both artists into stratosphere. They were career making and would be remembered as notable songs in the history of pop music. They were listened by millions of people repeatedly around the world. Any singers would dream of having such a "terrible" song in their career. The prime objective of most K-dramas is to get high TV ratings. There are some which maybe aiming for awards, but this is not one. Generic or not, some plots never get old, and audience keep loving it and keep coming back - looks like you are not one of them. But with record breaking ratings, who is to say that the writers did anything other than scoring a home run?
0.1 percent more and QoT could have surpassed CLOY, so everyone's blaming it on Eun Seong 🤣🤣
This is only for viewer percentage (where I am still scratching my head how it can be used for ranking). For actual Nielsen viewership numbers, QoT is still almost a million (860k) behind CLOY.
i don't really understand the criticism for ep 14 exclusively. this show has been bad throughout and relies heavily…
Well this "bad" show is loved by most in Korea, and it is now #5 all time cable TV ratings, and could likely move higher in the last two episodes next week.
In Korea, having star power alone is not able to generate this type of TV ratings. The rising viewers numbers (now in Top 5 all time cable ratings) proves that most Korean audience love the show, cliche or not.
The problem with being a public figure is that you are a role model for others. You get big $$$ but you are also…
You no longer have privacy once you committed a crime. Your criminal court proceedings and criminal records will be public. And you may think drug use is a victimless crime ("not assaulting or killing anyone"), but in reality it is not. When he purchased illegal drugs off the black market, he was actually funding the organized criminal gangs and drug cartels. And there are countless violence and victims in association with drug manufacturing, trafficking and drug distribution. All those unseen victims before the drugs reach his hands.
The drug test came back positive. So he definitely broke the law regardless of the outcome of the eventual court…
Any leading actors or actresses engaging in illegal activities and committing a crime will be treated the same around the world, not just in Korea. It's sometimes even worse in Western countries during the #MeToo movement, when those accused immediately taken off all the jobs and project based on just accusation without any actual proven crime (yet). Another examples are professional athletes/players being immediately suspended from playing. Here, YAI has been proven to have positive drug test. So Netflix decision could be justified with this alone, disregarding what the reaction of the netizens. I can't think any movies or drama series being released unedited when the leading actors/actresses are going through court proceedings for a proven crime. Can you?
As for "Someone who is struggling with issues like he is isn't going to be thinking of those consequences. " Well he should. Just like drunk driving, you cannot tell the judge that you were so drunk that you did not remember going behind the wheels, and could not be blamed for the consequences. As being a well known celebrity, and a top billing actor for a movie and drama series, any scandals or mistep would affect everyone around him. He knows full well about his fact. Of course, he needs help. But he has the money and resources to get the best psychiatrist and psychologist in Korea. No reason to use illegal drugs,
thanks for sharing! the fact that he’s still in, albeit less, makes me want to support the project. what a tragedy.
But we are not talking about an average citizen, YAI has the money and resources to get the best psychiatrist or psychologist in Korea for help if he wants to. There is absolutely no reason for him to seek illegal drugs.
Is this really worth watching?(Critical opinion without bias pls)Not really liking the written plot (not that…
For me, it is overrated. Maybe just a bit sick of yet another time travel drama. Watched 2 episodes so far, not feeling much so far. Quite childish, guess it's a youth drama. Mind you, I also found Twinkling Watermelon pretty average. I think TW is a good indicator whether you will like this or not.
They will complain every epi when QOT create new records,I can’t wait to see and laugh again when QOT epi 14…
To be honest, I still don't understand why everyone uses the % ratings to rank dramas. If you think about it, using the proportion of viewers to compare while having different total number of viewers every night just does not make sense. They should use the actual number of viewers.
For number of viewers ranking, TWOM only ranks #4 (6.25 million), while Sky Castle is #1 at 6.5 million and CLOY is #2 at 6.34 million). Queen of Tears is currently at #5 with 5.22 million viewers (Ep 13, and that's another example, Ep 13 has more viewers than Ep 12 even though the rating percentage is lower).
thanks for sharing! the fact that he’s still in, albeit less, makes me want to support the project. what a tragedy.
I am not sure how else he should be treated when he has been tested positive for illegal drugs and committed a crime? And most here keep blaming the public, but this is more than that. No business or corporations want to be associated with a criminal. So what Netflix did was a pure business decision. That's the only way to get this drama released. Yes, YAI is going through tough time. But also think about the innocent co-workers what put so much effort into this project. Honestly YAI should also have thought of this before he decided to use illegal drugs, as his action not only affected himself, but to everyone who worked with him. There are tons of legal ways to address mental issues, which most people here used as an excuse of his action.
Smoking Marijauna has been medically proven to cause permanent brain damage. It is NOT like drinking a cup of…
You can swear or scream all you want. But that does not change the fact that Marijauna is NOT harmless. This is quoted from CDC:
The fact that marijuana is legal in some states for medical or nonmedical adult use does not mean that it is safe. Using marijuana at any age can lead to negative health consequences: - Using marijuana heavily (daily or near-daily) can damage your memory, attention, and learning ability. This can last a week or more after the last time marijuana was used. - Using marijuana during pregnancy or while breastfeeding may harm the baby. - Marijuana use has been linked to social anxiety, depression, suicide, and schizophrenia. Scientists don’t yet know whether marijuana use directly causes these health issues, but it may make symptoms more severe. - Smoking any product, including marijuana, can damage your lungs and cardiovascular system (heart and blood vessels). Eating or drinking foods with marijuana can take longer to have an effect and may increase the chance of consuming too much. Vaping marijuana has led to lung injury and even death. Use of concentrates in vaping or dabbing devices may increase a number of health risks because of the concentration or strength of marijuana being used.
I am not a "cold" person, and I am not a hater. I would view any actors or actresses who use illegal drugs the same way. You obviously have a very liberal view of drug use, or maybe you use them yourself. But that does not make it legal or safe to use. There is a reason why these drugs are controlled. Michael Jackson died from Propofol use, the same drug as YAI was abusing.
This is absolutely not about "cancel culture" (go and look up what "Cancel culture" really means) or "toxic Korean" (Netflix is not even Korean). This about someone who committed a crime, and consequences of criminal illegal drug use.
Sci-fi dramas are not that popular and when one with an interesting premise shows up, NF caves in to some cancel…
People keep saying "cancel culture" which has nothing to do with Netflix decision. What Netflix did was a pure business decision. YAI has been tested positive for illegal drugs and has committed a crime. It is simply not right to air a drama series featuring a criminal who is still going through the legal process.
I also hope we who are outside of korea, at least, get a choice to watch the "censored" or "non-censored" version.…
Smoking Marijauna has been medically proven to cause permanent brain damage. It is NOT like drinking a cup of coffee. It will continue to be illegal in most parts of the world. Being a supporter is one thing, trying the rationalize one's decision to commit a crime to use illegal drugs by using mental health as an excuse is another. There are tons of legal ways like psychological therapy and medical treatment (which actually works rather than "quick fix") to deal with mental health issue.
And it is not just netizen's attacks they have to face. They have to face real financial downfall. Sponsorship and ads make up a big proportion of their income. No company or corporation wants to be associated with a criminal. Pure business decision, nothing to do with "cancel culture" which is mentioned tons of times here. For example, if the drama features product placement, the product company could ask for removal of the celebrities part as it could seriously affect the image of the company. Often times because of the cancelation of projects/movies/ads, the celebrity would be sued for lost income.
Netflix editing out YAI's part is a simple business decision. The same decision would be made by any company or anyone.
I'm not sure what type of ending I want from this drama at this point:- if Hae In dies it'll obviously be very…
The plot is already gearing up for a cure. They are only waiting for her white count to go up and then she would have the treatment in Germany. Since this is a totally made up "disease", the writer can write anything and it would not be medically wrong. My prediction is for Hae In to go to Germany in the last episode, and we will have the typical time skip before she appears at the end.
The drug test came back positive. So he definitely broke the law regardless of the outcome of the eventual court…
Are we still talking about his parts being edited out by Netflix? Your reference to "mob" and "you or me" confuse me. I am not to judge anyone. Nor did Netflix. Netflix did not try to "ruin" his life. They are simply doing what is necessary to save the project so that the drama series can be aired without serious backlash. Many here only view the whole thing from YAI's point of view - his parts was "cancelled", his life was ruined, he only did something which harmed only himself... But in reality, what he did affected many people around him, and who were working with him. What Netflix did was not to target YAI, but to allow the work by hundreds other workers to be shown around the world. YAI and all the celebrities surely know that committing a crime does not mean only legal consequence.... your whole career is at stake and could be over. And this is not just about netizens' reactions, all his advertisers and sponsorships (which make a huge portion of their income) would be gone (no brand or corporations want to be associated with a criminal), and they are also often sued for lost income from their contract.
Seems like he's in pain mentally and physically to the point where he needed to use to feel fake fine. To vilify…
The police has announced that YAI was tested positive for Propofol, Marijuana, Cocaine and Ketamine. These are illegal drugs in many countries, not just Korea. Some of the attacks by netizens are not acceptable. On the other hand, many here are over sympathetic, and just blame it on a "mental illness". Ultimately, one has to be responsible for his actions when he seeks illegal means rather than legitimate medical treatment.
I don't understand why South Korean celebrities aren't allowed to have private lives and make mistakes like everyone…
Again, when you say "erasing his work" is purely from his point of view. But this is not what this is all about. No one is targeting YAI, or have the intention to erase his work. They are just trying their best to remove objectionable content so that the drama series can be aired. And yes, there are many who find allowing YAI on screen while all this legal troubles are going on as objectionable. Celebrities are held to a different standard unfortunately. You can have an affair while being married without much consequences. But for a celebrity to do the same could blow up as a big scandal. Similarly, a drug addict on the street is viewed differently compared with a celebrity drug addict, even in whichever society you are in.
I don't understand why South Korean celebrities aren't allowed to have private lives and make mistakes like everyone…
Editing his part out is the only way to allow the series to be aired. The alternative would be to shelf the whole project all together. That would be serious injustice to the rest of the casts and co-workers who worked so hard for the whole project. This is not only about one person's health concern. This is also about an illegal criminal activities. Whether you like it or not, most societies/cultures would not accept a drama series with leading actors/actresses involved in illegal activities and currently under criminal investigation and proven positive drug test. People here only talked about YAI. No, he is not the centre of the universe. Hundreds of people are involved in this project. We cannot sacrifice all other people's hard work.
Seems like he's in pain mentally and physically to the point where he needed to use to feel fake fine. To vilify…
Every country has its own law. He grew up in Korea and fully knew what is legal and what is illegal. If you have a mental health issue, you can seek medical help. There are many legal medical treatments available. And in fact psychological therapy like CBT or counseling frequently work better than pharmacological treatment. There is absolutely no reason and no excuse to do illegal drugs. He has no one to blame but himself to get into this mess. I can't see how you can put the blame on the public when he did something illegal and is now facing the inevitable consequences.
