Finally watched the final two episodes! I'm so glad I started watching this series~ The ending was lovely!!…
Sure, no problem!
It has a happy ending~ There is bittersweetness, angst, and some major dramatic moments leading up to it but the actual ending is a happy and hopeful one! :)
It's been a day and I already miss this show so much! My Wednesdays and Thursdays will feel pretty empty for a while. This series wasn't perfect but I absolutely loved every second of it! I was skeptical at first, wondering whether the 24 episode count might feel long and draggy but that wasn't the case at all~!! A few of the plot threads could have even used a bit more time to fully flesh out--or maybe that's just me being starved for more of these amazing characters and stellar writing. ;P Gong Hyo Jin was her usual best, and Jo Jung Suk really surprised me and made me a fan. Definitely a new favourite series!!
Wow, so excited for this!! Love the casting, even though it changes the age (and background?) of the character; Sato impressed me in the Rurouni Kenshin films so he should be great here in the role of Kei. Ajin is such a kickass story~ Can't wait till this is released!!!
Sorry your first foray into Korean films ended up being mediocre! If you want to give it another try with something along a similar vein, there are two other films starring the same lead actress (Han Hyo Joo) which are favourites of mine! I think they're miles better than Love 911. I recommend Always (which made me fall in love with the male lead, So Ji Sub) and The Beauty Inside (a really quirky film which I hope pulls you in as it did me)! Oh and I was going to suggest Train to Busan--totally different genre obviously haha--but it's already in your PTW list~ ;P That's a really great one!!
Oh my goodness, this week's episodes tore me up! I'm not a crier, but I cried during Hwa Shin's…
Yeahh, they really are amazing!! It's impossible to imagine anyone else in the lead roles. JJS and GHJ suit this so perfectly~ Love their chemistry together too!
I also liked JJS in Oh My Ghost but the way the female lead roles & romance were handled got me so frustrated I had to stall after episode 10. I thought the acting was great so I eventually want to go back and finish it... but I needed to take a break when I could see who he was actually falling in love with, if you know what I mean. So much potential drama, I couldn't handle it all at once lol!
But JJS in this show really pulled me in to the point that, even when we saw HS suffering, I just couldn't stop watching...! There's something special about this show! I'm looking forward to your review!! ;D
In 2003, a 16 year old me had to sit for a few weeks, worried if I had skin cancer. In 2010-2011, my 22 year old…
Thank you so much for sharing that! I'm glad you and your sister were lucky, but sorry to hear you both had cancer scares. I can't imagine what that's like.
It's sad but very true that there is so much stigma and discrimination surrounding illness. I've lost a family member to cancer before but, even before illness had touched my life in that way, it has always hurt and appalled me to hear about the trials people go through when they suffer from cancer or other illnesses.
I've seen people get up in arms over the concept of introducing universal healthcare because they "don't want to pay for people who got themselves sick"--as if someone can be blamed for having an illness like cancer. And as if they themselves are immune to cancer or can control whether or not they become ill.
You may have heard about a woman suffering from Multiple Sclerosis who, last year, wrote an open letter on Facebook in response to a nasty note she found on her car on a day she had been able to walk unaided for a change. Her vehicle was rightfully parked in a handicapped space but someone felt the need to leave a note on her windshield reading "Did you forget your wheelchair???" Apparently she didn't appear disabled enough to satisfy some random, ignorant stranger.
I will never understand why some people find it necessary to go out of their way to harass anyone over something uncontrollable and/or outside the realm of their understanding, especially an illness. There is far too much ignorance out there, and it saddens me that people continue to be so judgemental and have so little empathy for others. I'm so glad to see that very real issue being touched upon in a show like this. It's great to see a touch of reality and such an important societal message. We need more eye-opening messages like this! <3
What a gem of an episode. I will forever be proud of Hwa Shin. I literally wanted to go into the screen and give…
Yes to everything you just said! And a double yes to that last note about Jung Won. I so want him to redeem himself, and the only way he can do that (in my eyes) is to support Hwa Shin.
Oh my goodness, this week's episodes tore me up! I'm not a crier, but I cried during Hwa Shin's…
Yes, absolutely! The writers have done such an amazing job; they handled the subject matter so masterfully, wove a fully engaging story that is alternately heartwarming and heart-wrenching, and wrote realistic 3-dimensional characters who display so much heart and growth. During episode 22, I started to suspect that Hwa Shin may use his platform as part of his confession somehow, but I still couldn't have imagined it unfolding the way it did. Such a brilliant moment for his character! And I know exactly what you mean about the car scene too... Jo Jung Suk emotes so well with his voice and expressions that a single word or even silence can be so intense and emotive, and say so much. It was heartbreaking. Gong Hyo Jin has long been a favourite of mine (and she was great in that scene too), and now Jo Jung Suk is steadily climbing my favourites list too! The whole cast has been great~ Their acting really does the writing justice.
Anyway, I'm with you and have full trust in the writers~ I don't know what's coming but I feel like it's going to be fantastic! I'll be so sad to see this series end too... I haven't felt this way since Reply 1988; I cried when that ended BECAUSE it ended, and I think this show is also going to leave me with that same kind of bittersweet feeling.
Oh my goodness, this week's episodes tore me up! I'm not a crier, but I cried during Hwa Shin's confession (and nearly broke down when he learned he may be sterile too)... That dance break at the end of episode 22 was oh so necessary lol!! I needed a laugh~
The brief scene with Jung Won and his mother made me fear JW would charge in and spill the beans! I was really glad to see HS got the chance to confess on his own terms instead. And what a way to do it!
I'm so very in love with HS and NR, it's no joke! I was really afraid HS would be silly and leave NR because of his sterility--and without telling her the reason--but I'm glad at least that didn't happen... Although it's obvious he grappled with that decision. It was hard to see him withdrawing from her and sending such mixed signals... I can understand it's his defence mechanism kicking in, but I really wanted him to just tell her what was going on! Poor HS... and poor NR, being in the dark. Only 2 episodes left, so everything's gotta come out though!
I can honestly say I don't know what's going to happen in the final episodes, and I am on the edge of my seat waiting to find out. Pleeeeeease let them stay together!! ToT</3
On top of the mystery of Yuri's identity (I guessed he was Amuro's friend, and episode 6 hints even more at that possibility) and the meddling and scheming of side characters, now we've got a terminal illness?! Nooooooo!!! T^T I've been purposely avoiding dramas with terminally ill characters... I'm fully invested so I definitely can't stop watching this but now but I'm starting to expect a tragic ending.
Episode 20 was all kinds of nervewracking for me. I was ACTUALLY nervous for Na Ri lol. And everytime she did…
So true. Having three different generations paralleling each other was a great approach~ I enjoyed seeing what different or similar circumstances faced each trio. So much potential for interesting developments, all around!

Jo Jung Suk was amazing in this!! I didn't expect much from him, to be honest, but his performance blew me away.
