From what I understand, no one is supposed to know he’s the CP or that he’s an imperial envoy. Mrs. Yu knows because her husband holds a high rank and she’s actually hosting them. And FTY had an inkling that it was the CP from the info Mrs. Yu gave her and the beads CP had with him, that’s why she insisted on following them.

Yeah, pretty realistic though. No way he would win against, what, 10-15 people. He has no formal combat training. Probably learned how to fight because of his trade. The story is not setting him up to be some overpowered ML. Fits the character.

I haven't seen the FL doing this "self praise". Yes, she loves herself thank goodness for that! Yake certainly doesn't seem to love herself. She compares herself to FL all the time, seeing no value in her own worth as it is.

Nah. Fan Ya Ke betraying Ting Yun didn't make Ting Yun "outstanding". It had nothing to do with FL and everything about FYK's insecurity. Her little monologue while talking to her father after securing thay bethrotal showed that. FYK wanted what FTY was going to have - marrying up. And what was it she FYK said? Even if FTY married down (to Zuo), she would still be a Fu. But her, FYK had nothing else going on for her but that opportunity to marry up. True. That may ride for others but not for me. That doesn't justify that betrayal. And the difference between them is not just being rich and poor. It is becoming more and more obvious as the story unfolds - the adaptability, the tenacity, the grit, the intelligence (I suppose) that FTY is showing overshadows FYK pathetic attempts to make a place for herself in the Yu household.
