I am kind of excited to see the Zhao Ling who will be faced with dilemma when the values he has now collide with the things he has to do to fulfill his goals and ambitions.

In terms of social standing, I don't think she was the same level. Ya Ke is the daughter of a scholar hired by the Fu family to run the Fu Academy. They are not of noble class, unlike the Fu family. As she was not a member of the Fu clan of course she was treated differently, but not badly, by the members of that family. I would think, just based on the drama because I didn't read the novel, Ya Ke was treated very well by the family, especially Ting Yun.

Okay that there is a bit twisted. He favors the concubine over his first wife, because she tells him stories about the girl he's pining for but cannot have, the girl whose reputation he ruined because he did not want to marry her and he ruined said reputation by roping her bestfriend - his current first wife - to betray her. 🤨

The way Ting Yun played to Ya Ke's insecurities and they way she easily fell into that trap showed the gap that her mother-in-law knows she lacks.
