Will Rowoon be playing another bubbly, naive male lead? Nothing wrong with that but heβs done already with Extraordinary…
You spoke my mind. I feel even with the similar kind of roles he has had so far, he has delivered them very well and I definitely count him as one of the better idol-turned-actors (At least he is not cringe or has poker face).
But yes, I just have this feeling that he should play more serious roles as well, in fact something like in a thriller (like Signal) or roles like Grim Reaper or Doom (eg Seo In Guk from Doom at Your Service, just the character - maybe not similar script) or even take notes from his Tomorrow's costar Lee Soo Hyuk and deliver that performance of being nonchalant-kind of character. Given his face structure and voice, I think he can deliver those roles as well.
Or maybe something extreme - like a villain/psychopath roles like Im Siwan has played in past. This is my wish for Cha Eun Woo as well. And please while wearing glasses!
Guess as fans, we can only wish for it - up to the popularity poles and casting directors to make the decisions π₯²
Jung So-Min, Han So Hee, Hwang Jung Eum, Gong Hyo Jin, Kawaguchi Haruna must be exceptions? Do you think poor…
Omg! Never knew someone on MDL will share about the legends like Cary Grant and John Wayne here! π
Totally agree on Kim Se Jeong's Shin Ha Ri doing a Season 2. But something like a spin-off or special maybe. I think Business Proposal was a very good drama with a fitting conclusion. A spin-off that is like an epilogue that tells us more about the endearing two couples!
Shin Hye Sun is love - Mr Queen is a drama that I can pick up from any episode and rewatch anytime and still be in splits at the comedy!
Yet to see Crash Landing (I avoid it cause of the fate of the SML T_T) but Son Ye Jin is also one of the first K-actresses I have seen cause of Personal Taste (2010). She is too good in there and of course in later projects as well.
Park Min Young and Shin Hye, yes - while I know have had diverse roles to play but their most popular and memorable ones have been a bubbly strong character who has a sad past/struggles (Park Min Young - City Hunter, Healer, Secretary Kim etc) OR sad/poor girl character who is mostly shy but puts up a bravado at times (Shin Hye - Heirs, Flower Boy Next Door etc).
They have had other projects where they did not have such characters - but even in those they tend to bring out the above characteristics.
While I know they were one of the leading actresses as Hallyu Wave took over the globe and I like them, I still don't consider them as someone who is diverse or can take on any role. As masters of their crafts, I am sure they can - just I don't see them as so.
Whereas, more or less for every kind of role - be it naive/strong FL roles - someone like Se Jeong, Hwang Jung Eum, Son Ye Jin would be my choice has I been a casting director! π
They might have heard of a rumour of a vampire in the mansion and thought to kill him to end the curse. In that attempt they failed but stumbled upon the gold and hence they so RICH now! HEHEHE
Jung So-Min, Han So Hee, Hwang Jung Eum, Gong Hyo Jin, Kawaguchi Haruna must be exceptions? Do you think poor…
May or may not be. There are some actors who don't have to be told much and are able to deliver it flawlessly. I think that is why they get labelled as natural born talents/actors.
But of course, the role of the casting director, writer is important in order to derive the outcome from the talent they have in hand.
I am not sure if am able to explain it well, so let me take an example. Of all the actresses you mentioned, Hwang Jung Eum is one of my favorites - and I love her in every role she has played. But her technique is that using a variety of facial expressions to deliver the message. On the other hand Won Ji An - uses very minimal changes to her facial expressions but is still able to deliver the message well. Both are on point and are well received, just different techniques I guess.
Though this is just my opinion - some might even think Ji An has a very straight face and wish she would exaggerate a bit more in terms of face and body language in her acting, like Hwang Jung Eum - but for me in their respective way of showcasing their art, do very well in their own styles.
The rest of the actresses I have seen few to none dramas/movies so can't really comment.
But other actresses that I will put at par with Hwang Jung Eum - i.e using a lot of facial expressions: Shin Hye Sun, Park Bo Young, Kim Se Jeong, Kim Ji Won, Son Ye Jin etc.
Then there is someone like Won Ji An, I am yet to see someone like her yet who puts minimal efforts to show a variety of expressions.
And there are some popular actresses who unfortunately have more or less same expressions in all their roles (this could be an unpopular opinion, but then it is mine :P) - Park Shin Hye, Park Min Young, Kim Hee Sun. More or less all their roles have similar expressions (could be cause of typecasting as people liked them in a role, so they continue to deliver in same fashion)
This is my first drama watching Won Ji An - and I must say even a lot of senior/popular leading ladies are not able to emote a lot through just facial expressions.
But Won Ji An - is able to express so many things - anger/confusion/surprise/blushing/sorrow and so many more by just her expressions alone. Sometimes even with a straight face but expressive eyes and corner of her mouth - she does so.
Really talented - and hence I am more invested in the show for her portrayal of the character.

Q1: Pictures: We know that vampires have no reflection, and even as a half-vampire the ML is having a blurry reflection.…
Thanks Rikuhearts79!
Q2 - Your theory does make sense. Especially since Ep 11 trailer shows Mr Ko sharing that Hae Sun was killed cause of him. Trickster very well goes with his Cat Persona, kind of like the cheshire cat in Alice in Wonderland stories.
Yeah, maybe the curse existed before and hence they were hunting for the vampires for cure to live longer and even be immortal.
I thought that the man who was shot by the arrow (the hunter) seemed like a guy in his 30s-40s. So the act of being shot at the heart made the start of the curse. That the male members of the family die due to some heart conditions around that age, which otherwise cannot be explained by the doctors.
But yes, it could very well be a curse prior to that event as well.
I'm usually not into slow burn romances but I love how the attraction between In Hae and Woo Hyeol slowly progressed…
That dance scene was really beautiful - nothing over the top, with crazy camera angles/zooms or heart bokeh effects. Even the music is hardly there, just a simple tune and we just focus on the ML and FL - and how there are feelings but they don't realise it yet. Also - that look Woo Hyeol gives as he standing on the upper floor and looks fondly at In Hee *cute*.
And yes, with the Ep 11 teaser - what did Mr Ko do? I kind of thought he would not just be a kind guiding spirit, after all the world works on give-and-take as Rose pointed out. So looks like he is helping SWH in order to help himself be free from some guilt of the past.
Do-Shik and Ms Na are definitely going to bring their ugly side for sure. They are too smiley face and kind hearted so far. So much niceness definitely means some plotting. Teaser did show Ms Na is definitely not pleased with the development.
Also, what is the relationship between Ms Na and the bad vampire? How did they form an alliance and he is acting as her henchman?
In Hae's father and where is the missing gold? Too many questions and the wait is super long!
Have some questions after seeing Ep 10. Put them under the spoiler tag in the comment below. Any one who has completed…
Q1: Pictures: We know that vampires have no reflection, and even as a half-vampire the ML is having a blurry reflection. Since camera pictures are due to the reflection phenomenon itself - is it just the vampires/half vampires that cannot see their reflection but everyone else can?
Had this question cause in Ep 9 -10, we have his videos being taken, and the SML has a spy taking ML and his friends' photographs on their rooftops. Further the SFL asked ML to take a picture together at the party. All was confusing me - that what is the connect?
Q2: Did the vampire hunter of the past died as he was shot in the heart (hence the curse is there in the family of SML of premature death)?
Or is he the same guy who has written that Vampire record book? If he is the same, then that means he did not die at the place where Hae Sun died. That itself makes no sense cause: 1. why did Woo-Hyeol not kill him since he was furious? 2. Let's assume that he did not immediately die, but overtime became weak cause of the wound and then died. (In that case - the curse is continuing in his family)
But then when did he have the time to search about the cure - the concept of half-vampires and that too with a scar? Like how did he make that discovery? (How random and funny is this π€£)

I really hope it is a great drama, as I am eagerly waiting to watch Yeon Woo Jin. My first drama of his was Marriage, Not Dating which is such an underrated drama. Thereafter I did see him in My Introverted Boss, where he was good but the story was sub par.
So here's hoping to see him with this strong cast in a great drama! * fingers-crossed *
Please be a good drama this time. He's wasted so much time and talent in bad dramas already!
You mean like Moonshine? πππ I fell in love with him in I am Not a Robot and Memorist, even My Strange Hero was cute! And so everything else pales in comparison so even I hope his talent is not wasted and hopefully he gets better scripts!

Highly anticipating this one!
Ehhhhh, what else does one want? π

Audience knows it, just our leads have to realise it soon
