oh okay - I really like Jiang Lin's character. And given how they are stressing with Li Zan calling out that he knows Capt Jiang has got his back, and how he's overall close to him. Plus the fact that he has a younger cousin brother waiting for him, and seems like the only family he has - it is all making me fret that he could be THAT friend who will have an untimely demise in the bombing mentioned in synopsis.
I hope it is not the case - and rather lets say he was too late to diffuse a bomb in a particular area. While that would be sad to but a little less than any main cast member's death so early in the show :(
Those who have read the novel, can you please answer a question. Possible spoiler, hence adding it as first comment,…
It is mentioned that "Li Zan feels guilty and blames himself for the death of his friend who sacrificed his life to save him in the bombing attack" - Is Jiang Lin that friend?
Those who have read the novel, can you please answer a question. Possible spoiler, hence adding it as first comment, under spoiler tag. Asking this so that I can better prepare myself, as I quite like this character.
he's always been since his City Hunter days. But so glad that more and more people are getting under his charm thanks to this drama, and his rom-com lead role <3
ok so i am actually liking this show but, that scene in the second episode when her coworker introduced azan as…
keep watching - it is a drama full of such contradictions that will make your heart flutter but your mind question a lot. I was there too and have been commenting here left right center - just to let it all out.
as for your question - my take on it: they both fell in love at first sight, but too awkward to confess, and plus this is a slow-burn romance which means they want to slowly burn the audience who will be agonising over the wait till these two can be officially together ๐ญ ๐คฃ
So she though that she was fated to be with him, and was being delulu when she met him in that office and parking lot. but when he is introduced as her supervisor's BF she thinks she has no chance and hence tears up. Ridiculous, in real life, cause who would do that after 1-2 meetings but then this is drama.
The guy also likes her and this is a mild spoiler - but keep watching and you'll know that he is not the boyfriend (I think its shared in Ep 5). And since he also likes Song Ran, the way he sees her leave and then be all teary eyed - makes his heart yearn, feel guilt - etc all the typical sensitive ML drama works.
This will be a constant struggle - but somehow this drama is addicting. I mean I am at Ep 8, in spite of having questions just like you - so... Keep on watching :D
LOL Sadly I agree, I mean I love this dramas and binge watching it all day but I have to shut up my brain. ๐ญ๐คฃ…
haha - absolutely, I am like take cover you lovestruck fools, but at the same time I am enjoying it with a silly grin thats so large to split my face in too - cause its cute at the same time ๐ญ ๐คฃ
Scene: ML driving, FL feeling sleepy and yawns ML: There is time before we reach our destination, get some sleep FL: No, I rather talk to you while you drive [FL falls asleep the next second]
I think we've already established that this drama is non realistic and focuses on the romance. In order to enjoy…
I actually have been unable to get into C-dramas because a majority of good ones are historical (I don't know the correct term but I think it is wuxia?) - i know it is weird but I just cannot take in the whole flying men, and over the top kind of plotting and fighting.
Most of the C-dramas I have liked are modern stories (Reset is one of my Top 10, the only C-drama in that list).
But since you've recommended and I do love sisterhood and strong women in drama, I'll note it. Might take me sometime, but I'll attempt to watch - who knows this maybe the drama that would get me into costume dramas. Thanks for the rec! :)
Please, feel free to leave your thoughts more often! I really enjoy reading comments that actually engage with…
Thanks for checking it out and commenting. Because of you - I got to understand what superior mirage are and went one step ahead and asked Gemini if it can be captured on camera - and apparently they can be with special lens (Something that Song Ran had)
She should have taken a picture, woman in her crushing era is forgeting her main job ๐ I'll not blame her much, CZY can have that effect ๐ ๐

I know - I just replied above and I think this drama is going to make my brain and heart fight ๐ Like I am loving those moments as I know it is a romance, fictional but then these things happen and my brain forces me to pause and reflect back on what just happened ๐
While I know that I should keep logic in the backseat, but then a part of me still years for an FL who is on the same level as ML, even if they are different. I would not mind if there was a situation that was extreme and the ML rescues the FL in a heroic manner, cause she has no military experience. and then the ML can jump in and be his heroic self. For everything else - like choosing routes to reach her destination, should not be so dumb ๐
I know this one is webtoon adapted, but in general I wish Drama-makers would re-interpret such scenarios and make it relatable for todays time, thinking of new ways to bring in the couple together rather than superhero prince & distressed damsel formula ๐ฎโ๐จ ๐ฎโ๐จ ๐ฎโ๐จ

Thank you for reading and commenting. At this point, I am heavily invested in this drama. Given that I usually do not watch C-dramas, I might have a lot of questions/comments that other C-drama viewers are used to / take it at face value. Hence looking for that perspective as well (if you are one of them - please feel free to add your interpretation/correct me).
I am loving this drama but some things just make me pause and come here and vent. I know it is not a good experience and will be factored in my overall rating/likeness of this drama but it is what it is.
Like this drama is going to give my brain and heart a tough time, I can see it ๐ญ ๐
Ep 7 - can anyone explain how those white olive trees were a "mirage"?
Definition of Mirage: an optical effect that is sometimes seen at sea, in the desert, or over a hot pavement, that may have the appearance of a pool of water or a mirror in which distant objects are seen "inverted", and that is caused by the bending or reflection of rays of light by a layer of heated air of varying density.
I get that the weather was hot, but they were seeing it beyond/above the hills (cooler temp there) and the trees were straight. How on earth was that a mirage then? I think if they had said it was the real deal - it would have made more sense, and Song Ran should have captured it on camera, reminiscing it in later part of the drama.
Mirage - like wow, physics is out of the window here. Again reminding myself that this is fiction and romance-focused, but still ๐ญ๐ญ๐ญ If anyone can explain it would be really helpful, with some ounce of logic, cause the dramamakers clearly didn't any ๐
I want to enjoy the drama but these things interrupt my watching experience. I cannot completely immerse myself in those heart-fluttering moment and ignore all this. Would have worked had it been a drama of early 2000s but not now ๐ญ ๐ญ
Ep 6 - Detour to Haru: I have to constantly remind myself that this is a romance drama. I mean loved the whole ML rescuing FL - but again why? Why would a war correspondent no matter how pressed for time, would be going to a completely off-beat track without any knowledge. Also if she is a war correspondent for that area/country - they would know what is happening right - same like how the voluteer knew as soon as they heard where she was headed. Pretty sure they need to know basic lay of the land - especially a war zone, to cover it. Safety is a priority for them, not optional ๐ญ and therefore every information is crucial and researched well.
God - I have to calm myself and shut my brain and ignore such stuff in order to enjoy this drama. I am loving it and hence commenting so frequently as I binge but I wish that more dramas would show the professions in the right light. Like if a person is a fearless, knowledgeable war correspondent - please don't let them make such rookie mistakes. And how long should we have the FLs as damsel in distress (T_T) It is 2025 - dramamakers please, I know it is fiction but I need my women to be badass like they are IRL! ๐ฅน
You would hate the novel if you read it ๐ because the drama is quite close to how the novel goes. It doesn't…
I'll hope that the drama takes a different turn than the novel in terms of ending and pace.
At one point of time I would not mind this slow pace in either books or dramas. But now with limited time and life in general in a fast lane, the drama and books need to be in sync :)
Based on what I read from last few chapters of the novel, it seems to be Sad Ending, but not exactly sad ending,…
I read it on another comment that they get married and have kids, but are dead 10 years later. So happy for those few years but a sad ending all-over. Or mixed, idk.
I hope the drama ends differently. But I don't mind the spoilers since you read the novel last few chapters - can you share more, like why they died? and who is taking care of the kids?

Especially the lower half of her face when she speaks :)
ML: There is time before we reach our destination, get some sleep
