Okayyy - thoughts after Ep 10 especially around our Detective's "Search"Adding it in first comment after this…
Search = Who are the Detective's Parents?
My Observation:-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ⦿ Given Ep 9 ending/Ep 10 trailer - it showed that detective is caught in fire and knows the culprit. I knew then that given there are 2 more episodes whoever the culprit is would not resolve the mystery behind the parents. ⦿ mid Ep 10: when Geum Hui gave that monogrammed handkerchief to the detective, I knew she had to be the mom somehow.
Why Geum Hui? -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- (1) I felt there was too much focus given to Geum Hui & Detective in Ep 10 (2) She says she wants to be a modern woman & not get stuck in housewife chores - it is strange she would monogram the hanky for a return gift. She seems like a person who would buy expensive gifts rather than do DIY/hand-made. Could be wrong but that seems like a personality and the environment she seems to be coming from. (3) The timing of her showing her rabbit monogram & adoptive parents sending baby clothes with the initial monogram was focused and a little sus. (4) Last scene of Ep 10 - I think it is making us to believe that Geum Hui is the mother
If True, Why Detective was given for adoption -------------------------------------------------------- (a) Geum Hui was explicit that she did not want children and hence if she got pregnant by accident, she gave the baby up for adoption. (b) She has also said many a times that she is jealous of Yeong Bok and her large family - so somewhere she does have a slight guilt for putting her baby up for adoption.
But How Could She Hide It? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ (c) she delivered baby in secret by going to her home - probably by faking a fight with her husband. (d) or her husband must have gone for a business trip for a year.
----------------------------------------------- THEORY #2 ------------------------------------------------ But both seem so far-fetched that I doubt this theory of Geum Hui being the mother and hence courtesy @Artheusa I have an alternate theory:
Theory 2: "She Rescued Detective as a Baby - but is not his mother, but fostered him for a bit." I like this and it solves the doubt in my mind that how could she have hidden the pregnancy. And it also goes with the initial belief of hers that she doesn't want to have children.
But doubt in this theory: she is shown to be rich, coming from a protective environment & seems to have shifted in the town recently. Her only contact points seem to be the Royal Club members and Chairman's wife - before Bangpan Sisters. Given her personality and upbringing - it seems unlikely that she would jump into a fire to rescue a baby.
But then she is known to be kind - so who knows the situation might have sprung her into action. I think we are being led to believe that she could be the mother -whereas she would turn out to be a foster mother, and the search might stop. Like the Detective might not have enough leads to go on - but make peace with the families he has created with his adoptive parents in States and in Korea (Geum Hui).

Can't wait for finale week - Woohoo! One of the best shows of 2024 - for me this has turned out to be.
Then I’m glad I haven’t watched Penthouse 😁, I guess her role here will stay with me for a long time.
Haha - it might, but I'd recommend to watch the show. Penthouse S1 at least - am sure you'd also like the range she is able to pull off. What a talented actress, really!
I heard many people could not get her Cheon Seo Jin (Penthouse character) out of their minds. Yeah, she made a…
You are right - in fact one of the episodes she is called out as the femme fatale and I was instantly taken back to her looks in Penthouse.
Like I said in earlier comment - when the drama is airing I am engrossed with her as Jung Suk. But as soon as it ends and I reflect back on the episode/drama overall - I cannot help but be impressed with KSY - what a talent!
I didn't notice it was her at first (because I mistook her for Lee Dahee). When I figured out that it's KSY I…
Her character was so impactful in Penthouse, and not in a good way. So seeing her like this I am mildly amused.
Like when am watching her in this drama - when it is airing I am totally engrossed. But as soon as it ends I can't help but draw comparisons and be impressed on the duality she is pulling off.
The same thing with the naive and innocent pharmacy assistant playing a gangster pimp in Doubt 😅
The first time I saw him, I instantly knew I had seen him somewhere but it took me 1-2 episodes to realise that he was in one of my favorite dramas of 2023/4 - Boyhood.
Such a contrast lookwise, though both are based in countryside. He had a almost shaved head there and was a school bully - and look at him here being all naive and shy with mop-full hair 🤣🤣🤣
And of course - KIM WON HAE - this man is so distinctive, and yet every role he plays takes on a flavor of its own.
I have seen Kim So Yeon in Penthouse and now this drama. While she is a terrific actress which I knew from Day 1 of knowing her, her role in Penthouse is so ingrained in my mind that it is difficult to accept her as a shy lady in this drama.
Like I love this drama and have been binging it non-stop from 2 days, but had to say this out loud. She is amazing and true to portray her character - but am expecting her snarly Penthouse character might jump out anytime 🤣🤣🤣 that would be the biggest twist in this drama then!
Just finished the drama in one sitting and let me tell you, i cried a river. Definitely a masterpiece. These three…
I was confused by the trailer but intrigued by what the story could be. Reading your comment it seems like the ending is either sad or open. Let me know so I can prepare myself - I don't mind the mild spoiler on ending...
With 8 episodes out, Doubt definitely picks up momentum and will keep you hooked until the end—leaving you second-guessing…
Thank you - I definitely am not giving up on it, just going to watch it a bit later. Currently just not in that frame of mind to absorb the slow, intense mystery unfold in this crime drama.
But yes, I love how everyone is saying that it is a must watch for HSK 💖
I just finished watching up to episode 7, to answer your second question, the pacing remains consistently slow…
That's very kind of you - some have sent over in DMs, and I found your comment here. But yes, comparatively I think it has a slightly less viewership. Still it is good to know that you are enjoying it - I'll wait for it to conclude, do share what you thought overall - and if you share any reviews - I'll be sure to check it.
While am putting it on hold - am sure your comment will definitely make another person also decide if they were confused like me :) you never know!

Thank you so much for such a detailed comment sharing your perspective - it is definitely helpful. And you are right - I am usually fond of break-neck speed paced dramas not just for thriller/mystery but otherwise as well. Which is why while I delved into this one thinking the genre would mean it is a fast-paced story, it wasn't and maybe that is why I am unable to get into it.
But yes given that it stars Han Seok Kye, I think I'll still keep it on my radar and come back to it when I am in a better position to watch this.
Going by that and of course my own feels - it felt like a 7.5 to me. And 7.5 is Good-to-Great in my books btw.
This is a little downer for me too since I had great expectations from this film after reading the synopsis and the main leads are my absolute favorites. But I guess - I have seen better in comparison from this genre - hence this is my rating.
I had started this show and watched till half of Ep 2 - was really not able to commit to it. This is in spite knowing Han Seok Kyu is in this and we all know how good he is in any role. Problems were - it was confusing, like the direction not story, the daughter girl is weird - like she is putting to much effort to pull off her character - rest of the cast did not even make an impression.
I see this is almost at the end - the comments are mixed, and rating is on lower end (given the synopsis and my personal preference for this genre - I consider 8 and above as good and worth a watch).
Still - want to know from those watching it, is it worth the time? 1. Does the story get better - is it gripping and with twist and turns that are unpredictable? 2. Does the pacing get better - it was toooooo slow for me in Ep 1 and 2.
I see it being compared to BlackOut - but I have my doubts.
The synopsis and trailer has left me so confused on what the story could be. Somethings that I still can be sure of are: 1. This would be action comedy, though am doubtful on the comic timing 2. Given the cast order - am guessing Lee Yoo Mi will end up with Woo Do Hwan, even though initially she will want to marry Oh Jung Se's character
Really intrigued to know what is the relationship between the lead pair and why does the ML kidnap FL to search for his father?
It looks fun and am interested to watch, but this is too little info for me to add this on my watchlist. Anyone else knows more that what we have been shown - any news articles etc - please do share in comments :)

I like Jang Na Ra and Go Jun, and now that you have shared who she ends up with - am tempted to watch it :D
