Just 6 minutes into Ep 7 and I almost need to pull my hair. This drama clearly is not paced well, characters and…
Main Issue - and evidently highlighted in Ep 7 Start:
They both are supposed to hate each other and have been doing so in some capacity in last few years.
Even if the ML is pretending to hate her all this while and he wants her to hate him back so that they don't get closer. They carried this out for 3 years at least. The FL too has hated/disliked him - and which is why she went ahead with the plan to use the phone and blackmail him. In her anger, frustration, hatred - call it what you want - but it was definitely not care/love.
Understand that they went about their business as it is for 3 years, and this phone call/kidnapping became the catalyst and which is why the events/this story is taking place. But then how can they forget everything of the past 2-3 years in a matter of minutes?
Overtime as drama progressed - we are seeing that okay they are not sworn enemies as the ML and FL were childhood sweethearts. BUT BUT BUT - it is evident that there has been sometime in between where they did not care for each other and carried on their on ways. Which is why somehow Paik Sa Eon was supposed to marry I-na. Therefore, even if we know that the ML had feelings for FL - the FL definitely did not feel anything till then.
But then suddenly she was forced to marry him. Should she not resent him for that which derailed her own life goals/plans and everything else that made her life be nothing more than a puppet of ML and his family and ofc her own family?
How can all those pent up frustration, anger, dislike, non-care attitude, what she heard when kidnapped, initial reason to leave him - all vanish? And suddenly they are declaring and confessing their love for each other.
It really makes no sense - which is why I blame the pace, storytelling capabilities of the writers and directors of this show.
I continue to wait and watch this show only cause I NEED to know the past stories/mysteries and ending. Everything else till now is flawed.
Just 6 minutes into Ep 7 and I almost need to pull my hair.
This drama clearly is not paced well, characters and situations are not explored well. I think for the first time I will say that a drama needs more episodes. Details in First Comment Under Spoiler Tag.
I did request/update the details - after having a conversation with other MDLs who are watching this show. Earlier…
Ikr! Though we have seen such a plot in revenge dramas - but then it did not follow the timeline logic. Like how could she die and be reborn in the same time as a 30+ year old. Weird haha!
But good that the summary makes sense now. Enjoying the show too - though I should have waited, 100 episodes is too long to wait - the suspense is killing me!
Curious Question - why are the daily dramas usually with high number of episodes - have different kind of cinematography. They look like they are more realistic, shot in a set like environment.
Idk how to explain it - but the other dramas are also produced within sets but have that glamour/editing touch up kind of thing.
Not aware of the exact terms - but I hope someone gets it. Really want to understand why this is - is it due to production costs / tools / effects etc. And why? Usually the actors and crew are interchangeable so is it like a deliberate move?
Observation: I like how her works are of similar wordings - "I Can Speak" " I Am Home" Recommendation: Just like I can already anticipate "I Am Home" will be good given the caliber of the main casts - Na Moon Hee& Yoo Seung Ho, the other movie "I Can Speak" is also a must watch. It is heartwarming, based on true stories and also stars another acting genius and one of my favs, Lee Je Hoon ❤️
I did request/update the details - after having a conversation with other MDLs who are watching this show. Earlier it said she will "reborn" and I was like what??
I am assuming many others also submitted a request to update it or maybe the page author did it. But so glad the new one makes more sense!
The Korean ver never hooked me up, mainly due to Song Kang's acting skills, as the ML needs A LOT of microexpression…
Your comment resonated with me so I felt like replying back.
I too liked the synopsis of Nevertheless (Korean) but did not watch it for the exact same reason as yours - I do not find the acting of ML & FL convincing in their other works. Therefore while the synopsis was great and attractive, I never attempted to watch. (also - I think you meant in your comment the lack of Song Kang's acting skills?)
But seeing the Japanese version and the fact that Yokohama Ryusei plays the ML - I was thinking of giving it a try. I have seen almost all of his works and in fact a character that comes close to blending the red/green or grey flag is one he played in Cursed in Love (which remains one of my fav J-dramas).
It is still airing so will wait for it to end - and then binge watch. But as always am surprised why the rating of J-dramas is so low.
Actually the leads should get the appreciation the most. Their chemistry and acting makes this drama a success…
I don't know about chemistry and romance because that is the biggest let down. But yes it is from script and direction - they are to be blamed for randomly popping up cliche scenes that are cringe here but would otherwise be romantic if the storyline at that point and tone of the scene was built organically and not shoved on our face.
I couldn’t agree more! The love storyline feels quite sudden—it’s hard to believe that nothing happened…
Thanks for sharing your comments and high-five! Yes, I am also continuing for the mystery/revelations part + out of respect for actors YYS and CHB cause they genuinely are good just caught up in this average bad scripted/directed drama.
Still hoping and coming back every week that it gets better and drama ends on a high note - genuinely without Netflix marketing team and social media hypnotizing us to believe that this is the best drama of 2024.
Hi I just wanted to add my two cents! So in episode 6 it’s revealed that Saeon was cold to Heejoo as to not…
Oh I got it from Ep 1 - that ML is in love with FL - cause his harsh words were meant for the kidnapper not his wife (it is another matter that the wife heard it and interpreted it wrongly). Over the episodes we have seen he cares for her - in fact he plotted the whole switcheroo because he is in love with her since they were kids.
The reason he is acting cold and has to let her go, because he thinks that since he is the fake Paik Sa Eon, he has no business showing her with love and kindness, probably because he plans to reveal the fake story to public someday.
I know it is silly but then that is what K-dramas hook us into their fictional tales, and larger than life plots and characters.
While I understand all this - I still feel the chemistry is missing. Like the vibe of a scene is going in one direction that is not romance - but suddenly they are falling on top of each other and heart fluttering moment is cued. But it does nothing to me - rather than making me cringe or worse get angry take a pause and calm myself to come back to it and then fast forward such scenes just to get to the bottom of the mystery. Mystery at this point is the only thing I am here for - rest is not working out for me.
I know YYS and CSB are great actors which is also another fact, that out of respect for their past work and my initial high expectation from this drama is making me continue. But this is a very average drama, and therefore a waste for someone like YYS' caliber tbh.
I totally agree with you !! plus I believe that when a show is airing , viewers are so into it emotionally that…
True - I don't understand how someone's opinion - good/bad can affect someone so personally. Like are the production houses paying these people - if that is the case, I'd like to know the process to join too and make some extra money 🤑🤑🤑
Jokes apart - agree to Rohan's point - I know I need to have thick skin when commenting or writing a review that goes against the popular consensus - but it really can get very hurtful, very ugly very fast sometimes. Makes me wonder where so much anger is coming from - and really it is for dramas that are fictional and actors/actresses that probably don't care or know about our existence. Honestly it is absurd, funny and sad - but that's a public forum for you.

100% agree, Rohan. I think the social media & Netflix's own marketing is hyping it up to such an extent that the emotional stakes get high to a point that one forgets that many of us are here for the story + pretty actors and imagery - all, not just the latter.
And yes - I am not sure why having a different opinion makes one a hater. Like do we all have now have a unanimous outlook for a drama - like what is the fun in that? 😂
Anyways - thanks for commenting, let's hope the drama gets better and ends on a good if not great note.

So happy for her 💖 also the picture and dog is so cute!
Loving how everyone remembers her as Veronica Park #iconic
