Actually the leads should get the appreciation the most. Their chemistry and acting makes this drama a success…
I don't know about chemistry and romance because that is the biggest let down. But yes it is from script and direction - they are to be blamed for randomly popping up cliche scenes that are cringe here but would otherwise be romantic if the storyline at that point and tone of the scene was built organically and not shoved on our face.
I couldn’t agree more! The love storyline feels quite sudden—it’s hard to believe that nothing happened…
Thanks for sharing your comments and high-five! Yes, I am also continuing for the mystery/revelations part + out of respect for actors YYS and CHB cause they genuinely are good just caught up in this average bad scripted/directed drama.
Still hoping and coming back every week that it gets better and drama ends on a high note - genuinely without Netflix marketing team and social media hypnotizing us to believe that this is the best drama of 2024.
Hi I just wanted to add my two cents! So in episode 6 it’s revealed that Saeon was cold to Heejoo as to not…
Oh I got it from Ep 1 - that ML is in love with FL - cause his harsh words were meant for the kidnapper not his wife (it is another matter that the wife heard it and interpreted it wrongly). Over the episodes we have seen he cares for her - in fact he plotted the whole switcheroo because he is in love with her since they were kids.
The reason he is acting cold and has to let her go, because he thinks that since he is the fake Paik Sa Eon, he has no business showing her with love and kindness, probably because he plans to reveal the fake story to public someday.
I know it is silly but then that is what K-dramas hook us into their fictional tales, and larger than life plots and characters.
While I understand all this - I still feel the chemistry is missing. Like the vibe of a scene is going in one direction that is not romance - but suddenly they are falling on top of each other and heart fluttering moment is cued. But it does nothing to me - rather than making me cringe or worse get angry take a pause and calm myself to come back to it and then fast forward such scenes just to get to the bottom of the mystery. Mystery at this point is the only thing I am here for - rest is not working out for me.
I know YYS and CSB are great actors which is also another fact, that out of respect for their past work and my initial high expectation from this drama is making me continue. But this is a very average drama, and therefore a waste for someone like YYS' caliber tbh.
I totally agree with you !! plus I believe that when a show is airing , viewers are so into it emotionally that…
True - I don't understand how someone's opinion - good/bad can affect someone so personally. Like are the production houses paying these people - if that is the case, I'd like to know the process to join too and make some extra money 🤑🤑🤑
Jokes apart - agree to Rohan's point - I know I need to have thick skin when commenting or writing a review that goes against the popular consensus - but it really can get very hurtful, very ugly very fast sometimes. Makes me wonder where so much anger is coming from - and really it is for dramas that are fictional and actors/actresses that probably don't care or know about our existence. Honestly it is absurd, funny and sad - but that's a public forum for you.
I totally agree with you !! plus I believe that when a show is airing , viewers are so into it emotionally that…
100% agree, Rohan. I think the social media & Netflix's own marketing is hyping it up to such an extent that the emotional stakes get high to a point that one forgets that many of us are here for the story + pretty actors and imagery - all, not just the latter.
And yes - I am not sure why having a different opinion makes one a hater. Like do we all have now have a unanimous outlook for a drama - like what is the fun in that? 😂
Anyways - thanks for commenting, let's hope the drama gets better and ends on a good if not great note.
She was married to a businessman and she took some time off or was forbidden to do dramas by her husband I think…
Yes, I read this what was publicly available - but these are assumptions right, there is no news article or anything. If she was not allowed to work - that is sad, though I am still inclined to believe that she voluntarily took time off and was taking care of children as well during this time. I am assuming they are older now and therefore she has returned.
Guys tell me is it worth the hype because I have been disappointed with almost every hyped drama this year should…
I would suggest if you have not started till now, then wait some more and let it complete or almost complete. Then you can binge it - and within a few episodes you'll get to know whether it is for you or not & even the weekly waiting will not be there.
My Personal Review So Far: I started this cause I love YYS's acting & the fact that it seemed like a thriller. But in Ep 1 itself realized the expectation mismatch. Like another MDL fellow commented and helped out - it is romance "peppered" with thriller aspect, whereas I went with the expectation of Thriller with some romance.
So set your expectations accordingly though even the romance - for me it was not romancing enough so I fast forward those parts which brings me to my biggest let down of the drama: - I feel there is 0 chemistry - the usual drama cliches have been added awkwardly and are totally out of time and pace. It is only because both the main leads are good actors that even in the awkward, randomly pulled out of the blue mush scenes they are making it look good.
But most of the time I want to throw away my device because it is so cringe and out of place. Like the scene is moving in a different kind of vibe - but suddenly they are falling on top of each other. I literally have to pause, get up from my seat, walk around to calm myself and remind that I am here to just know how the mystery ends - which is the only redeeming factor, and why I am waiting for this drama week on week.
I know I write long - but hope this helps you decide. In any case - looking forward to hear how you went ahead - Happy Drama Watching! :)
She's trying to make amends with Heeju for the way she treated her in the past. We are forgetting the fact that…
Thanks for sharing - it would be great, it looks like with the latest episode that she has grown up, matured and genuinely concerned for her sister. Possibly they would get together and fight off the evil Hong Joo mother or at least make her confess her wrongdoings.
But I don't mind if the drama changes tracks and makes her have bad intentions, trying to be a hurdle to the main leads' happily ever after. I don't mind the catfight - if done right.
I saw a comment on Tiktok where someone was asking this same question and someone who read the novel answered…
That would be good - given the drama has not given any answers but hinted at both maybe good/bad. I'll be happy to see it either ways - if the sister bonding leads to them confronting the evil Hong Joo mother together OR if she turns out to be a roadblock towards the main lead path of having a happy ending for sometime.
What could be the sister I-na's deal? Is she really sincere and concerned for Hong Joo or is she conspiring something?
I feel the latter but not sure - have also not read the novel, so don't have any context. Would love to hear what others think and don't mind novel spoilers.
EPISODE 6 Theories1. The fake Baek Sa Eon (male lead) is one of the twins. Chances are, the real Baek Sa Eon murdered…
I love your theories and here are my thoughts. 1) Agree that one of the twins is fake Paik Sa Eon and the real one was a twisted kid who killed fishes and maybe the missing children too. This is why the father said to the mother that they felt "freedom" cause possibly the real son is dead (or so they think) and therefore not a threat to them. They also had been hiding him in that room, possibly.
Regarding the real son - the grandfather must have ordered the house to be burnt and therefore thought the real son died in it. But in reality - the 3rd missing child was burnt and the real son escaped. Given the burn marks we have seen - I feel it is the villain dude in black with different colored eyes. (Unnie~yaa). Also, when he makes an appearance later on - the mother might recognize him through the distinct eye which is why they are focusing on it.
Also - I think Ji Sang U did not complete his tale but he said he saw something odd in the mansion - either it could be that the real Paik Sa Eon was killing the cat or one of the missing children.
The Paik household then got hold of one of the twins - and made him act like their son, the now present Paik Sa Eon (YYS). I am not sure whether during the kidnapping he was drowning - but I feel it could be given they showed the family ring a lot in focus - could be the grandfather. But then why would they do that if they need a replacement son?
Therefore it could be a random incident - given he is the son of a political family - someone must have kidnapped him and tried to kill him. And this has become one of his most haunted incidents and cause of nightmare with only Hong Hee Joo being able to calm him as a kid and even as a grown up.
2) Park Do Jae - agree is a red herring. Especially when they showed that someone wearing black clothes pushed her and we know among the group it was him wearing black. But then I think it was the accomplice of Unnie-yaa dude - or he himself, as we see in the message they exchange the text that it is D-Day. Given that Hee Joo saved Paik Sa Eon from the car accident - this is the revenge of sorts they carried out.
A random theory - maybe it is the remaining twin brother who was not missing joining hands with real Paik Sa Eon. Why? a) Real Paik Sa Eon hates the fact that someone replaced him in his family, for which they tried to kill him. So he is trying to kill YYS - Paik Sa Eon and claim his rightful place.
b) the remaining twin brother could have been persuaded through his lies saying that Paik So Eun killed his twin brother OR he might have revealed that the twin brother is living as Paik Sa Eon and like a king and used jealousy as a factor to incite the other brother.
3) Too wild for me - so pass, I don't think this is true, Park Do Jae is simply Park Do Jae, no hidden identity.
4) Villain as in who pushed her - I explained above, I think it is one of the accomplices (Unnie~ya Team) who pushed her and would have come there in the garb of other hikers and used the ambush as a chance to push her.
Overall Villain - the FL's mother, the ML's parents/family.
BONUS: Having shared what I did above - I also think Ji Sang U - could also be the brother of Paik So Eun - like they both could be twins? Or was he another child altogether - I did not notice if he made a mention looking at the picture.
OR he could be the ultimate villain and actually HE IS THE REAL PAIK SA EUN & the serial killer - and which is why he knows the case so well cause in a way he is narrating his own story. And therefore he is working with the Unnie-ya guy (he could be one of the missing kids who were probably kept hostage by real Paik Sa Eun (young) and when he saw that Paik Sa Eun is a fake person but getting so much fame and love, he decided to make this plot. Far - Fetched and not so logical but yeah these are my thoughts.
Still can't make sense of this drama - yet oddly addicted to it cause of the mysteries.
The romance is not romancing for me - even though they have added in the cliche situations. For some reason I just can't feel it, and it seems to be abruptly added rather than the storyline evoking the chemistry, care and love. No fault of the actors, I blame the script and direction.
I know it is a drama and that anything is possible - yet a man who has treated you in a manner that you thought he hated you and wouldn't blink if you were dead - just over some phone calls he seems to be saying sweet things, doing a bit of clingy cute stuff and confesses in a drunk state and the woman is happily hugging him? Like WHAT - I don't know if I should laugh / cry or fast forward 🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♀️
P.S I know many are loving the drama - but this is just my opinion. I am still watching the show - but it is only out of curiosity towards the mystery of (1) past of ML and FL (2) haunted house and missing children mystery etc. Rest all - skipping forward cause it is just not clicking - cause I have seen much much better in similar trope and I just feel bad for the main leads.
The summary is wrong that's why it doesn't make much sense, the right one is:Ha Na's life has been unfortunate.…
Tank you, Yasmin - for pointing it out, I think I missed it given I am kind of watching this show in speed cause it seems to drag. She kept calling the drunk man dad so that made me more confused. But thanks again for explaining it to me.
Also I think you have commented twice - one in spoiler tag and one without. If you'd like maybe remove the one without spoiler tag.
Watching this in Dec 2024 - I'll write a full review later, but even 10 episodes in, I can't take anymore. We need a petition for an alternate version of K2 drama where Je-ha and Choi Yoo Jin are the leads. Their chemistry is off the charts now, can only imagine what it will be if they were paired up.
There are many fanfics (I might write one too once I finish), but this angle deserves a drama of its own. While I am a big fan of JCW - K2 had been put on hold as I know that Yoona is simply a terrible actress (Yes - I said it, even though I love her in GG) and what I saw on social media posts since it released.
But then I could not go on simply watching the bathroom fight scene & shirt change scene on loop #iykyk - and so decided to finally give in to simply enjoy JCW acting, fanservice, thirst traps and action scenes. Little did I know I'll also end up being a fan of the character and actress of Choi Yoo Jin. Her antagonist side aside - she emotes the whole hurt, psychotic, power-hunger so well - but when Je-ha's around we can see the vulnerable and yearning for love side. She just needed someone she could trust and as these two battle mentally - OH I was internally screaming for them to just pause and angry make out, which could then turn into something more - and I would be fine with it as otherwise I will combust seeing all this erotic tension onscreen.
Anna - honestly they could have swapped her with a kid/teenager just to have that ransom hold which is the only thing she is important for. Cause her romance and acting are just bad.
#Team Je-Ha & Yoo-Jin JCW and these two characters are the only things that make this drama worth watching!
How is this possible and he is portraying a kindergartener of 3-4 years of age. He does not look 13. Either this is wrong tag or what fountain of youth is this?
The summary is wrong that's why it doesn't make much sense, the right one is:Ha Na's life has been unfortunate.…
Thank you, Yasmin - so in this case, since her real parents passed away when she was 7 and she was adopted by her family's friends - who also passed away in an accident - in that case who were the drunkard man and evil Go playing woman?
Like is there a gap in the timeline, like her real parents passed away and she had been taken by the drunk dude and his wife and treated badly. She was little so she did not know any better and believed them to be her real parents or did she know the truth? At any case - at a later point she comes to the orphanage and is adopted by the Goo family and meets the 3 siblings.
There were so many family swaps that is leaving me confused - and you are right the Summary does not seem to be right.
So happy for her 💖 also the picture and dog is so cute!
Loving how everyone remembers her as Veronica Park #iconic
