Oh I have been pointing it out since Day/Ep 1 :) But even then it was never clear that it would be romance - in fact the first episode bought out the mystery/suspense with the initial kidnapping and she-can-speak scene. So to label it romance so early on really puzzles me.
In fact this is what interpretation would be - many saw it as sealing it as a romance drama, whereas many like me still thought it would have suspense as its main theme. Guess hence the different opinions and I feel all are valid. :)

That is not true - I have interacted with many other MDLers who like me had a different idea when the show was announced. I thought it would be a suspense/thriller drama peppered with some romance, not the other way round. Given that there are discussion threads that are actively discussing the mystery behind the characters/past situation means that there are quite number of people who were in it for not just romance :)
Still even with romance - I am not sure it is a sizzling chemistry and therefore the 8.9 rating. But then it is a subjective matter and while this drama may not be for me and some others, I understand how many might be finding it appealing and hence the high rating.
I started it because of yoo yeon seok when 2 episodes had aired. I feel like the story took a different turn from…
I was hoping to be obsessed because I thought it could be something like a Gone Girl kind of suspense/thriller with the twist. Absolutely cannot get the romance/chemistry cause I personally am unable to feel it and therefore after the initial episodes am just skipping ahead to get to the bottom of the mystery. But that too has been thwarted terribly this week - so now am just pulling myself to watch it for the sake of not increasing my dopped list.
But as I said in another comment in this thread - while this drama has not been for me, glad to know many others are enjoying it :) Though I still feel it is not a 8.9 category π
There was no twist in the story and most guessed it. But the main leads chemistry was good. I think the social…
I have not been able to get the romance at all in this drama due to many reasons but primary - (1) I cannot wrap my head around the fact that they declared their love for each other overnight after years of indifference (2) I found the romance forced akin to the K-drama cardboard/fish kisses just extrapolated to overall romance. (3) My expectations were mismatched I thought this will be a thriller with romance in hints, but seems like its the other way round.
Which is why the mystery was the thin line keeping me hooked to watching it, but even that seems meh now. I literally fast forward or skip the romance parts because I do not enjoy it at all.
But that's me - while I have not enjoyed this drama, I am happy that many others are :)
Ep 9 - and rating is still 8.9 | Are we saying no one saw that twist coming, when he was the most sus person?
The only thing that was keeping me hooked in this drama was the mystery - it seems to be joining the non-existent / forced romance angle.
My next year resolution is certain: Do NOT pick dramas based on cast, social media hype anymore. Difficult, but shall try - cause this pick has been one of my worse ones for this year. I know am one of the outliers who carry this apparently "unpopular" opinion but it is what it is. Just dragging myself to watch till the end cause I don't want to drop more dramas. Le Sigh! πͺ
Byun Yo Han or Lee Je Hoon should win. But given the popularity of When the Phone Rings - YYS might sweep it away.
I love all three of them as actors - so would love if anyone of them wins. Though in terms of an outstanding series Black Out was the masterpiece, Chief Detective was fun - and WTPR is meh for me. Lets see!
I think Lee Jin Wookβs character didnβt die with that one shot, itβs either No 11 would purposely let him…
I hope so too - for the reason: there was no clear show of dead body, the one who shot him looks suspiciously like Na Eul. So your theory could be right.
2nd he is too popular an actor to be let go so easily. He is in a support role and therefore he cannot go away with hardly any screentime I feel.
A lot of the actors hardly had their stories explored - including Im Siwan.
This season was mixed for me - while I was entertained, it answered no questions for me that I still carry from S1. Adding my questions under the discussion topic & a review of the season below. Feel Free to Share your Theories on it - Would love to discuss!

tbh, I don't agree that the current relationship manifest overnight I think it was that a misunderstanding was…
So I mentioned it another post - and yes, I know it is a dramaland and follows drama logic. But while the leads may have harbored feelings for each other as kids - I believe as they grew up as adults they did not have much interaction or time to get closer. Even if we disregard all that as it was not shown- we at least know that the last 3 years of marriage they were both indifferent to each other. At least the FL was frustrated to a point that she used the kidnapping opportunity to get divorced.
Therefore am unable to grasp how years of frustration/indifference and other negative feelings for the ML are forgotten in such a short span of time. Even if the ML is paying more attention and doing all kinds of heroic scenes - still as a woman I'll still be skeptical of the mysterious person keeping secrets rather than throw myself in his arms and confess that she loves him.
Had they shown that she slowly starts trusting him and begins helping him to bring down the kidnapper duo and then like mature adults they would have given a chance to the relationship as ML confessed why he was keeping her at a distance. At present it seems like they have totally forgotten the past few years and their hardships/communication gaps just for the events that happened in few days/weeks.
But then it is my take - hence I am fast-forwarding the romance scenes, because I am unable to digest the pace in which it has taken shape. But am okay with most people loving it. Both are valid - just wanted to share my point, that's all.
Hehe, I know he can pull off any look and role - but this is the first time that I am seeing him in a lighter hair color, I was taken aback. It looks absurd in this picture - but waiting to see how it looks once it is in video, when he is in action.
Have a major thing for anime guys with white hair (Kakashi, Gojo) - looks like need to add him to the list too π
P.S - Is your username Princeton Girl by any chance inspired by Hillary Duff's movie - A Cinderella Story?
Does this one not have a closure?

I doubt this is the end for them so soon.
