Each mental illness case covered in this show deserves its own 12 eps drama but because there are several of them…
I have just started this drama and on Ep 8 now when I am commenting. While I understand to some degree your point that the show should have shown the ailments/situations in more details and therefore needed more episodes to dive deeper.
But at the end of the day it is a drama, and it needs to draw a line somewhere. While you may say it needed 12 eps each, some may say it needs even more and even the 12 episodes per case were not enough and then there could be some who might say that 12 eps per case was too much. Therefore there could never be a consensus - and while doing so the essence of the show might be lost, along with the reach it is trying to have.
Personally I like such dramas where each episode deals with a case, sometimes 3-4 more episodes deal with a case but overall it is the message, awareness that is important - and while am yet to complete the show, I think it is delivering very well on that. And not only the difficult topics of mental health are being carefully shown - it is also trying to showcase romance, family, co-workers, working moms' plights, friends/lovers conflict etc.
Honestly speaking - I think even in the limited time (though eps are 1+ hour long) they have carefully shown not just what is happening in the psychiatry unit, but the entire ecosystem - every touchpoint is being explored at work and daily lives.
But yes - I hope in future someone takes inspiration from each of these cases and possibly make a movie / drama that is more detailed. Only cause I feel this is a subject that needs more focus and any number of mass media communication is good to raise awareness!
This is one of the best dramas of 2024 - even though I was a little let down with the final episodes 11-14. Perhaps…
What I Did Not Like: (1) Justicia vs Satan was Underwhelming: - Given Satan was THE ANTAGONIST, the fight should have been more grandeur - in comparison her best fight was with Paimon and other previous sinners I feel - in fact even Ep 14 fight with Killer J / Jung Tae Gyu was meh - overall Ep 11-14 felt a bit rushed on action, giving explanations or rather they created very convenient situations and gave the solutions for it. - For eg: Conveniently Bael comes and orders her around, and conveniently Gabriel is there to save the day, Bael is all sulky in the end but gives her a chance to be human - Like what was even the need for those 3 years : they could have totally done it at the time Gabriel saved Justicia, and she comes back to punish Killer J - and as a reward, there become human! Woohoo! All of the things we saw on what happened to each victim and their families could have still happened without the thread of Year 3 looming over her head. - Probably added in a wedding scene for real this time: of either Han Daon/Bitna or the 2 other judges
(2) What happened to Human Kang Bitna - I had feared this, that they will totally forget about it but I still have questions - what was that whole scene of Kang Bitna trying to escape hell - where did she go after Gremory loses track of her - and Gremory is being punished, assuming that she did lose track of Bitna and hence was sent on Earth - so where is Kang Bitna human, and why was she sent to Hell - seems like she was not a shady Judge, so what happened to the judgement that Justicia did - so many questions, alas no answers.
Really hoped the MDL theories that the last scene with Bael in Ep 12 was all illusion and Satan would have come back for the epic battle royale - but alas no.
Still overall this is a good drama - just not perfect or masterpiece as I had initially anticipated watching it from Ep 1 to 10.
This is one of the best dramas of 2024 - even though I was a little let down with the final episodes 11-14. Perhaps because initial 10 episodes had made my expectations sky-rocket.
My Review: https://kisskh.at/profile/omo-omo-omo/reviews/401262 And some detailed reasons on what did not work for me. Do have a read of the review and first comment under spoiler tag - would love to know what others think,
Special Mention: PSH is known to have damsel in distress roles, and fish face kisses. She totally did a 180 - should we thank ML/Han Daon? π She was totally badass and the finale kiss was WILDD π₯
I saw him first in "Marriage, Not Dating" - both the drama and the actor were highly underrated. Saw him next in "Introverted Boss" which was not that great, but he was great in his character again. Now seeing him in "Daily Dose of Sunshine" and this is again a reminder of how talented this actor is but I don't think his projects have done really well, or maybe not marketed well.
One of those talented actors who needs to be on better (read: popular) dramas and become a household name!
Looking forward to see him in A Virtuous Business next (plan to start that drama when it is close to finishing) - really love his acting, and he definitely is one of the truly good looking actors. For some reason I feel he will have an equally good personality off-screen too - which is now making me think to catch him on variety shows as well :)
Aigoo and that sound made after a good drink or food (ν¬μΌμΌμΌ/(kkkghhh) (ggkkh) ) are my other top used words/phrases/sound effects.
I love how K-dramas have affected me - it is not a simple binge watch or fangirling, but acquiring some cultural and language traits too (am also learning Korean since a while now so that too!)
[1] Was right that Assemblyman and Son 1 is main culprit, just I thought the person who's Killer J and Satan would…
Which time are you referring to - when Taegyu shot Assemblyman in the head and went to airport = that was all an illusion right from the start, so he basically never shot him. Which is why Satan was alive cause old man was not shot.
Or are you referring to some other time?
like I had a doubt, not sure - if demons can possess dead or almost dying bodies. Given how the earlier demons have been shown to possess people - I thought it was people who were dying - like not completely dead - but will surely die. Hence they were possessed - but I think I could be wrong. I was doubtfull like how could Satan possess the man who was clearly dead - but then I'll have to rewatch to see how others did.
Justicia - Bitna was almost dying I thought cause it was a stab in the stomach area. Paimon - the guy was again stabbed so taking his last breath when possessed. Gremory - am not sure, the girl she possessed had taken her life, but am not sure if she was dead or dying. Valak/Mando - again not sure if the office worker was dead or dying cause of the exhaution
What do you think - and what is the time you were refering to?
[1] Was right that Assemblyman and Son 1 is main culprit, just I thought the person who's Killer J and Satan would…
Oh April, my friend - I am glad you shared your thoughts. I loved discussing the last episodes with you.
Solid logic - as always, thanks for clearing some of my confusion on the whole Satan/J reveal and the age gaps - makes sense now that you have spelled it out for me. Thanks buddy!
And yes - the fight was little meh, but you are right I like the theory that others have added that this is Satan's trick and an illusion. And the last scene Bael is also Satan in disguise (which also explains the weird behaviour and order).
But yes - thinking episode wise and time we have left, it seemed like a far too stretched illusion but lets see - if it is like what people are sharing, it will completely change my perspective of 11-12 episodes then cause the writers would be genius and I'd love to be fooled and presented with a twist that I did not see coming.
They have done a good, no great job so far - so which is why Ep 11-12 felt a little off. But if this was the grand plan that am all for it and I will trust in them as we walk towards the finale week.
I just love your alias name. OMO !!! Omo omo !! Otoke???!!!
Hey There! Hahaha Thank you!!
while it is not as distinctive and elaborate as your username and dedication on making your profile and W S2 theory/fiction world, I think OMO and Daebak are the two words that I picked up from K-dramas pretty early and use it even in real life. (there are others too but they are ermmm curse words like Shibal which are specifically kept for like Monday blues :P)
OMO especially is my favorite because I love it when characters use it - it has such a bright and postive tone to it, instantly makes you excited and happy. Plus - I don't recall where but it was shared that OMO perhaps is an acronym for Oh My Ovaries - which is a legit reaction I and others have every time we see a hot oppa onscreen :P
Guess, that is how it got stuck - sorry for the long post, but I love the whole concept and so went ahead to share it all :)
[1] Was right that Assemblyman and Son 1 is main culprit, just I thought the person who's Killer J and Satan would…
Thank you for sharing - and kind words on how I presented it. I have tried never to be rude but unfortunately have been served many rude remarks and comments. Therefore am extra careful in what I post and share in this space - words written, spoken have a lot of power I believe, even if we are shielded behind a screen. So your comment in the end really makes me happy and I will continue to write in this manner, and better!
Coming to drama theory - I think I agree with the other MDL users and yourself - I totally missed the last scene where Bael had a different red aura and not his usual along with the Spider things. So am guessing that it is actually Satan and his whole action of going to hell was an illusion. Like he is supposed to be the master of tricks too so this could be that. This makes me more excited and in fact then completely changes my perception of Ep 11-12 because the writers are then genius and I have been happily fooled!
Lets see how it all chalks up to finale week and am so exited to see how all our theories come to life!
[1] Was right that Assemblyman and Son 1 is main culprit, just I thought the person who's Killer J and Satan would…
Ah Signor Cassano - honor to meet you on this side of comments. I like this theory - yours is the first comment I see after logging in but I will take your word. In fact this theory makes me excited that Ep 11-12 were not the end - cause otherwise the fight was too bland.
maybe this is not the end, Satan did not really go to Hell and is lurking around and final battle remains. Like you/Someone has shared the last Bael could be Satan in disguise and I think I missed the whole red aura but am loving this theory. After all Satan is a master of trickery so we cannot put this past him - and the last bit was so unlike Bael. So yes, am going to trust in this show and writers and hope for an epic finale!! * fingers crossed *
what do u mean π IT WAS SOOOO GOOD EP 11 AND 12
Compared to the earlier 10 episodes it felt a little (like 0.000001%) less exciting in terms of action and the big reveal. Like Ep 11 served well on the emotional front which was great - but idk maybe I was expecting like fight of the century or something.
But yes - I like how other users have shared that maybe this is not the end, Satan did not really go to Hell and is lurking around and final battle remains. Someone has shared the last Bael could be Satan in disguise and I think I missed the whole aura but am loving this theory. After all Satan is a master of trickery so we cannot put this past him - and the last bit was so unlike Bael. So yes, am going to trust in this show and writers and hope for an epic finale!! * fingers crossed *
Thoughts and Theories Post Ep11-12So while am happy that my and others' earlier theories were not amiss (as shared…
[1] Was right that Assemblyman and Son 1 is main culprit, just I thought the person who's Killer J and Satan would be same. While I like this logic as well, where Satan instigated Son 1 to do the killings - for some reason the fact that the son remained the same physically through 20+ years it is a little unsettling. But then Korean actors and characters have partaken from the Fountain of Youth - so I guess that is what the writers were going with.
Personally would have liked it better as - Assemblyman being the Satan/Killer J 20 years ago. So young Son 1 came home and killed his father - and Satan took over - is all fine. But would have been better if Assemblyman would have been Satan/Killer J and done the killings 20 years ago; while Son 1 was the accomplice. Even if he was middle-to-senior aged, because of Satan's powers he should have been able to carry out the killings. But each kill made him a tad weaker and given that his human body that he was living off was getting old. Therefore he makes a deal with the elder son - who knew the identity of Satan / Killer J living off as his father - to do the present day killings. I mean I like the current logic - but then my version kind of sat better in my head - in terms of timeline and people aging etc.
[2] Now the reason why my rating might go from 10/10 to 8-9 [2- a] The focus on Satan vs Justicia + the big Reveal was Rushed and Lack luster. - Justicia vs Paimon was a better fight | vs Satan was so bland - the big reveal was so rushed, just done away in half an episode. - given from the start there have only been 2 questions in this drama: 1) who is killer J/Satan 2) will Justicia and Han Daon have an happy ending. - the first one I feel the show makers have not done justice, he was Satan and he went away so easily. It really was boring whereas it should have been more intense, action packed - to the points of being fearful and cruel. But it wasn't - another case where the interest was build up so high only for the makers not being able to justify the expectations.
[2-b] Now with 2 episodes remaining and given the execution of 11-12, am doubtful on how the makers will execute on important point number 2 - Will Justicia and Han Daon have an happy ending.
I really hope they take the time to explain why Justicia was punished, why human Bitna is in Hell, why they will have a Happy Ending if they do. Really hoping they don't rush it just like with the whole Satan vs Justicia arc.
Also what is the issue with Bael - he is unnecessary giving challenges. Like it makes no sense why would he want Justicia not to give a fair trial to Son 1. Like what is stopping them to have a trial and make him have a life sentence. Once he is in prison - am sure Justicia can pull off and kidnap him to kill him in her own manner and send him to hell. Bael will still get the guy to hell as expected - this clearly shows that just because they want an obstacle in Han Daon and Justicia's way - they forcefully have to make it this way.
Given how much I had been loving this show and still do - the Ep 11-12 were a downer in comparison to what we have seen so far :(
Really hoping they make up for it and give a fitting finale to this story.
So while am happy that my and others' earlier theories were not amiss (as shared here: https://kisskh.at/758169-the-judge-from-hell#comment-19157708) but am a little disappointed in the execution of these 2 episodes as compared to the first 10 episodes.
This drama was going 10/10 for me, but after Ep 11-12, its coming down to 8-9 as it is not flawless anymore for me. Good but not great - but still hoping the last 2 episodes finish well.

Hey! Thank you so much for this comment. You literally made day. Iβm glad someone understands my perspective…
Pleasure is all mine, it was fun to rant about garbage dramas together through reviews. And yes, BWS was the only reason worth dragging myself and completing this s-show. Thank you for also taking the time to read my drama review.
And yes, look forward to seeing your updated profile, whenever that is - no pressure π have a great day!

Thank you so much, Lex-nim for taking the time out to read, And yes - see I did say we had similar opinions. Great minds think alike - even for ranting about garbage dramas πππ
All of them are actors and actresses par excellence. Like if they are in a drama cast - you know it is bound to be good, at least in terms of execution and the character that they'll play. Literally they own and bring the character they play to life - most naturally!
Good article - and much needed highlight of grey characters and recognition they deserve ππΌππΌππΌ
Also regarding the title - I know it is a bit mixed, but frankly I have seen bad titles that were simply click-baits with zero correlation to the article topic, or misrepresented. I have often pointed them out in the comment. But I find this one - worth the hook and cleverly spun around the beloved BDSM saga!
Below are my thoughts - would love to know others' perspective! [1 ] Killer J = Satan, because he is the evilest…
That is news to me - that this is the writer's first project. If that is the case then so far it is incredible, and am sure it will open more doors for them. As far as I can see the reception of this drama has been good, and therefore commendable feat by all crew and cast members! ππΌππΌππΌ
